Suggested January 2024 6 Types Of Content You Need To Be Creating And Why

Content isn’t really king, it’s the kingdom. It is made up of various pieces that combine to create something greater: an effective content marketing strategy

You’ve no doubt heard marketers proclaiming that “content is king,” but that’s a vague and misleading statement. Really, a content strategy is more like the kingdom because it’s made up of various individual pieces that combine to form something greater. There are many different facets to an effective content strategy, and — unbeknownst to many marketing departments — there’s isn’t just one type of content that rules them all.

What content marketing ultimately boils down to is reaching your potential customers in a way that intrigues and engages them. Actually reaching them is the crucial first step, since you have to stand out from the crowd of 20 billion web pages that are viewed each month.

With so much content competing for views, it’s up to you to capture your audience members’ attention and make them want to engage with you. In order to effectively reach your ideal audience, make sure these six types of content are included in your toolkit.

1. Blog posts

Blog posts are a core part of any content marketing strategy because they give you the freedom and flexibility to go in any direction you want, while also strengthening your SEO. You could create a blog post about the launch of a new product line, posts that explain your processes, or even content that discusses your biggest successes — the space for creativity is vast.

Create pillar posts to take your blog one step further. Pillar posts will serve as the core content of your blog; they allow you to go in-depth on a specific topic and give you a valuable piece to link to in your guest content, using specific keywords. Not only does this drive more traffic to your pillar posts, but it also helps them rank higher in search engines.

2. Guest-contributed articles

By positioning yourself as an industry expert among these new readers, they’ll be encouraged to check out your company website for more resources. When you create and place guest-contributed articles that link back to other valuable content housed on your site, you can increase the amount of high-quality on-site traffic.

Creating natural backlinks from those reputable, high-quality publications is one of the most effective ways to enhance your search engine optimization. When Google analyzes your ranking, one link from a credible site will be significantly more influential than multiple links from low-quality sites. Although guest-contributed articles can help you achieve major objectives like thought leadership and brand awareness, boosting SEO is one of their greatest benefits.

If you want your guest content to reach its maximum potential, you need to establish strong relationships with the editors of your target publications. Their inboxes are flooded with emails daily, so grab their attention with a compelling pitch that offers unique insight on a subject you’re knowledgeable about.

When putting together your pitches, it’s crucial to keep in mind the audience and guidelines of the publications you’re targeting. This helps ensure the publications you want to be featured in will actually like what you’re sending them because it provides value to their readers and meets their needs. Pitching a topic that is relevant and authentic to both you and the publication you’re targeting is key.

3. Press mentions

When it comes to earning third-party validation, press mentions are an ideal tool for the job. When potential customers see your name and business profiled or mentioned in a publication they know and trust, in an article authored by another industry leader, your credibility goes up.

Press mentions can also increase your SEO, essentially ensuring that Google feels the same way your customers do about your company’s relevance in the industry. That boosted SEO will amplify your online presence, ultimately helping you increase traffic to your site.

But in order for your business to get that recognition, you have to be consistently creating content. PR and content marketing go hand in hand, so without valuable content, you’ll have a hard time securing those mentions.

4. Email marketing

The humble email. In the age of Slack, Google Hangouts, and a million other ways to keep in touch, is email even relevant? Absolutely. According to research from Adobe, white-collar workers spend an average of 3.1 hours every day in their inboxes. That’s a lot of time to capitalize on, but you have to ensure your email marketing is effective and beneficial to your subscribers.

Newsletters and drip campaigns are two essential components of an effective email strategy. Newsletters should be used to share content with your subscribers on a consistent basis. This tactic will enhance your content distribution efforts, provide ongoing nurture to your subscribers, and keep your business top of mind with them.

When you’re putting together your email newsletters and drip campaigns, make sure that you’re using valuable, high-quality content as the driving force behind them. Once you have that content, email marketing requires little upfront time, and it can be automated to produce the best results. Plus, a robust email campaign generates some of the highest ROI you’ll find in marketing, period.

5. Gated content

Gated content might include an insightful case study you compiled or a whitepaper put together by your team of experts. It’s longer than a blog post and — by definition — requires users to enter their email or contact information before they can download it. Because you can track which users are most interested in the expertise you have to offer and follow up with them later, gated content is a valuable lead generation tool that should be included in any holistic content marketing strategy.

6. Video content

If you’re not creating video content, you’re shutting the door to a huge swath of potential customers, a group that’s only going to grow larger over time. In fact, Cisco’s Visual Networking Index estimates that video viewing will account for 82% of all internet traffic by 2023. Depending on your industry, you can create explainer videos, how-to videos, demo videos, or videos that highlight testimonials from satisfied customers.

Studies show that viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to the 10% they retain when reading it in text. Incorporating this tactic into your media mix offers your audience a more digestible form of content, thus enhancing the impact of your message.

While videos often require a more substantial upfront investment, they can live on multiple platforms. Feature your brand video on your website and post it to your social media accounts, or use short clips of it in a variety of channels. A well-done video really is the gift that keeps on giving.

Final thoughts

An optimal content marketing strategy shouldn’t just utilize one of these types of content. Instead, it should be made up of a unique combination that suits your brand, your industry, and your audience.

No matter which types of content you choose to create, realize that the time is now to start populating your content kingdom — and homogeneity isn’t going to cut it.

Manual Testing on Software

The software can be tested in two ways by a human manually and automatically by a computer. Each technique has its benefits and drawbacks but shares the fundamental objective of maintaining software quality. We will concentrate on manual testing in this article.

Below are the six types described below.

1. White Box Testing

The software testing strategy includes black box testing and white box tests. Here we discuss white-box tests, referred to as “glass box” tests, structural tests, and clear box tests, and open box tests. It tests inner coding and software infrastructure to verify predefined inputs on anticipated and desired outputs. It is based on an application’s inner functioning and revolves around testing the internal framework.

The programming abilities needed for this sort of testing are the design of test instances. The main objective of white-box testing is to concentrate on the flow of inputs and outputs via the software and to strengthen software safety. Due to the inner system view, the word “white box” is used. The clear box or name of the white box indicates the capacity to look inside the software’s external shell.

2. Black Box Testing

Black Box Testing is a software test method that examines the software’s functionality without looking into its inner structure or coding. A specification of the needs indicated by the client is the main cause of black-box testing. This technique is used to choose a feature and provide an input value to check whether the function provides an anticipated performance.

If the feature yields the right output, it will be tested if otherwise, it will fail. The test team reports the results and then tests the next task. After all, features have been tested, if serious issues occur, the development team will be returned for correction.

3. Integration Testing

Integration Testing is the second stage after unit testing of the software testing method. Units or individual software components are being evaluated in a group during this test. The integration test level focuses on exposing flaws when parts or units are interacting.

Unit testing utilizes test modules, which are combined and tested during integration testing. The software is designed with a number of software components written by various programmers or coders. The objective of integration testing is to verify that communication between all modules is correct.

4. Acceptance Testing

Acceptance tests are official tests based on user requirements and the handling of functions. It determines whether or not the software complies with specific customer demands. It is done as a sort of Black Box test where the necessary amounts of customers participate in the system acceptance test. It’s software testing’s fourth and last level.

But there are still minor mistakes to identify when the system is in the current scenario used by the end-user. The software has now gone through three stages (unit testing, integration testing, and system testing) where changed requirements are present and can not be efficiently conveyed to the development team during the growth of a project.

5. Unit Testing

Unit testing includes the inspection of each software unit or element. It’s the first software test level. The objective behind unit tests is to validate the efficiency of the unit element. A device is one test component of a computer scheme and has been tested during the application software design stage. This test is to check the accuracy of the isolated code. A single function or application code is a unit element.

Testing approach White Box used by designers for unit testing. Unit tests are the first level of tests performed prior to inclusion and other test concentrations in a test level structure. The testing method utilizes modules that reduce the unit testing frames’ reliance on stubs, drivers, and mock items to help in unit testing.

6. System Testing

System testing involves testing the software system completely integrated. Software integration is generally produced by a computer system (every software is only one computer system component). The software is created in units and then interfaced to produce a full computer system with other software and hardware. In other words, a system consists of a group of software for the performance of various functions, but software alone can not accomplish the job.

System testing is a sequence of distinct types of trials for carrying out and testing against demands for the complete functioning of the embedded software computer system. System testing is tested in Black Box as it involves testing the software externally. The testing of minor defects follows the user’s viewpoint.

How to Perform in Manual Testing?

Read the project documentation/guides software and comprehend it. If available, also study the Test Application (AUT). Draft test cases covering all of the documentation demands. Check and reference Team Lead, Customer test cases (as appropriate) Once bugs have been corrected, run the failed test instances again to confirm that they have passed. Black box testing and white box testing is used to perform all test instances manually.

Differences Between Manual and Automation Testing

Automation Testing involves using testing tools Manual testing needs intervention by human beings for testing. Whereas it requires a qualified workforce, long time, and expenses.

Some test kinds like ad hoc and monkey testing are more suitable for manual execution, and any request can be tested manually. Automated tests are only suggested for stable systems and are mainly used for regression testing.

Automation software for automation testing is used for the boring portion to perform the same test instances time and again. Repetitive and boring manual testing can become.

What Is .Net Framework And Why You Need It To Install Apps?

When installing applications from around the Web, you may have encountered some that require you to have installed various versions of Microsoft’s .NET Framework.

The .NET Framework is, in truth, a vital part of many applications from around the Web, no matter their purpose. Let’s get started figuring out what that means.

What’s a Framework?

Essentially, a framework is something made to support other applications. In the case of the .NET Framework, it contains files and functions that aren’t actually within the programs that call upon them, so having these Frameworks save developers the trouble of having to code many of these things all by themselves.

What does .NET mean?

In this context, .NET refers to a group of technologies that allows applications to interact over and through the Internet to a fuller extent. This is used by both local applications and web servers to drive activity over the Internet and is the basis beyond which cloud computing services are built.

.NET uses the following Internet standards:

HTTP – You may recognize this. It stands for “HyperText Transfer Protocol”, and it’s used to determine what your browser and the web server do in response to your commands, like typing in a web address.

XML – Extensible Markup Language. This is made for web documents in particular, allowing tags that define different formatting for different things.

SOAP – Simple Object Access Protocol. This is an XML-based messaging service used to encode messages before sending them over the network. Messages from SOAP are transmitted through various Internet protocols, like HTTP.

UDDI – Universal Description, Discovery and Integration. This acts as a phonebook of sorts, allowing businesses to find each other over the Internet.

So, what’s the .NET Framework?

The .NET Framework is a framework of technologies that is used by applications that, in themselves, rely on .NET technologies. Applications that require the .NET Framework usually heavily factor Internet access into their primary usages.

The .NET Framework in itself uses the following:

CLR – Common Language Runtime. This manages .NET code, memory, exceptions, debugging, profiling and security. This is also known as the VES, or Virtual Execution System.

FCL – Framework Class Library. Name for thousands of classes which are used to define object properties. These classes include runtime functionality, database interaction and other features.

chúng tôi – Used to create web pages and services. To do this, it treats everything on a page as an object to run server-side. These pages are then compiled into another language, which is then compiled to native code (for your own machine), which is then run through your processor.

What do I do with it?

First thing’s first. Make sure you’ve grabbed the most recent version from Microsoft’s website. Also be sure to use Windows Update to keep your system up to par – some parts of the .NET Framework may not be compatible if you don’t have the latest, greatest Windows updates installed onto your computer.

After that, you should be fine. If something goes wrong with installation, consider using the .NET Framework Cleanup tool to get rid of older versions that may be causing you trouble. No applications should be strictly incompatible with a newer version of the Framework, but on the off chance they are, the application will tell you which version you need, after which you need only to search for it and download it to your computer.

Pinterest Updates Algorithm To Surface More Content Types

Pinterest is introducing a new ranking model to its home feed in an effort to surface certain types of content more often.

While that model is effective at maximizing user engagement, it’s not the best model for surfacing a variety of content types.

But that doesn’t necessarily mean they wouldn’t engage with video content if it were to be surfaced.

Pinterest found itself with a problem of wanting to boost more content types while still keeping content recommendations relevant.

To solve this problem, Pinterest is introducing a real-time ranking system for its home feed called “controllable distribution.”

Controllable Distribution

Pinterest describes controllable distribution as a “flexible real-time system.”

It’s not a complete algorithm overhaul. Rather, controllable distribution is only applied after the traditional home feed ranking algorithm.

Controllable distribution makes it possible to specify a target for how many impressions a certain content type should receive.

For example, controllable distribution could be used to specify that 4% of users’ home feeds should contain video content.

This is done through a system that tracks what percentage of the feed was video in the past. Then, the system boosts or demotes content according to how close that percentage is to the specified target.

Pinterest says this can be accomplished while still respecting users’ content preferences.

What Does This Mean for Marketers?

As a real-time system, the controllable distribution model will be continuously adjusted.

On one hand, that means the home feed won’t get stale for users.

On the other hand, it’s not exactly possible to optimize for an algorithm that changes in realtime.

Pinterest is diversifying the types of content in the home feed. If you want more opportunities to show up in peoples’ feeds then diversify the types of content you publish.

For example, if you only publish photos, then consider adding some videos or GIFs to the mix. Maybe some product pins if you’re an e-commerce retailer.

Pinterest’s target for displaying certain types content will be changing all the time.

Publishing a wide variety of content will help ensure you have the right type of content available at the time Pinterest wants to display it.

Additional Notes

Pinterest’s home feed ranking team used to do manually what controllable distribution is designed to do algorithmically.

Yes, Pinterest’s home feed ranking team actually used to step in and adjust how often certain types of content appeared in users’ home feed.

Yaron Greif of Pinterest’s home feed ranking team describes the old process as “painful for both practical and theoretical reasons.”

“In practice, these hand-tuned boosts quickly became unmanageable and interfered with each other. And worse, they often stop working over time — especially when ranking models are updated. We regularly had to delay very promising new ranking models because they broke business constraints.

In theory, controlling content on a per-request basis is undesirable because it prevents personalization. If we show each user the same number of video Pins we can’t show more videos to people who really like to watch videos or vice versa.”

Pinterest says it’s committed to investing in the post-ranking stage of surfacing content. So it’s possible we may see this model applied elsewhere on the platform in the future.

Purpose of Derivatives

The various purpose of entering into derivative contracts is as under:

Earning Profits: The main aim to enter into the derivative contract is to earn profits by doing speculation on the price of an underlying asset in the future. The market price where securities are traded is volatile where the shares may go up or down. When there is a fall in the share price you may suffer loss and in this situation entering into a derivative contract by placing the accurate bet may help in earning gains.

Arbitrage Advantage: Arbitrage trading involves a purchase of security in one market at a low price and then selling the same in the other market at a higher price. The difference between the selling price and the buying price will be the profit of the trader.

To Get Access to Unavailable Markets or Assets: The derivatives help the traders or organizations to get access to the markets or assets that are otherwise not available. For example, interest rate swaps can provide a more favorable rate of interest as compared to the direct borrowings.

Types of Derivatives 1. Futures

Futures are the financial derivatives in which legal agreements are being entered so as to buy or sale a particular derivative stock at the predefined price at the agreed time in the future. Future contracts in order to facilitate its trading over the exchange are standardized. It is the obligation of the buyer to buy the underlying assets upon the expiry of the contract. On the other hand, it is the seller obligation of providing and delivering the underlying asset to the buyer upon expiry of the contract. It allows the investor in speculating in the line of movement of the corresponding underlying stock. It can be used as a tool to hedge the losses which may happen in stock by entering into future agreement long or short depending on the position of stock held. Futures and future contracts refer to the same thing. The contracts are supposed to be compulsorily squared off on or before the expiry date. If anyone wants to continue the same position even after the expiry date, they can roll over the transaction with the new expiry date.

2. Options

The option is a kind of contract that provides a right but not an obligation to purchase/sell an underlying security at a predetermined price (strike price) and during the specified time period. The buyer of the option is required to pay the premium in order to purchase the right from the seller whereas the seller, also known as the option writer, who receives the premium amount, is under the obligation to sell the underlying security if the right is exercised by the buyer. Options are traded on both over counter market and exchange-traded markets. There are two types of options namely call option and put option. The call option is up side betting and no risk for down fall apart from premium paid loss. In the same line put option is down side betting and no risk for upward movement apart from the premium paid loss. The options may be bought or laid depending upon the risk appetite of the investor. If option is bought, it is subjected to maximum risk up to the premium paid amount and the profit bracket is unlimited. If the options are being laid or sold, the maximum profit will be the premium paid amount and is subjected to unlimited risk.

3. Forwards 4. Swaps

A swap is a derivative contract between the two counter parties to exchange the financial instrument or payments or cash flows for a certain time. The underlying instrument to this contract can be anything but in maximum cases, it is involved with cash based on a notional principal amount. Every stream of the cash flow is known as leg. This can be used in hedging the risk and minimizing the uncertainty of certain operations. It is traded over the counter and not in exchange. The default risk in the counter party in the swap contracts is very high and thus it is majorly opted by the financial organizations and the companies. The most popular type of swap includes interest rate swap, currency swap, commodity swap, credit default swap.

Conclusion – Derivative Types

Thus, derivatives are the financial contracts whose value is derived from any underlying asset including stocks, bonds, currencies, market indices etc. the value of underlying asset keeps on changing as per the conditions of the market and the main aim of the derivatives is to make profits by speculating on the value of the given asset in future.

Why You Should No Longer Be Using Windows Xp

Even though Windows XP was released way back in 2001, it’s still a pretty great operating system. It’s stable, has a Start button and gets the job done. That’s why there are literally hundreds of millions of computers that still have it installed. It’s so popular, in fact, that it’s the second most installed operating system in the world, only a little bit behind Windows 7.

Unfortunately, this isn’t really a good thing. The reason being Microsoft. Up till now, Microsoft has been extending the deadline for when it would drop support for Windows XP, but now it seems they are really going to kill it off. On April 8th, 2014, Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP completely. This is big news because it means in about 4 months, there will be millions of computers that are going to be vulnerable to hackers.

Table of Contents

Source: The Next Web

End of support means Microsoft will no longer provide any technical assistance to businesses or consumers for Windows XP troubleshooting. In addition and more importantly, Microsoft will no longer provide any security patches or updates for the operating system. On top of that, you won’t even be able to download Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows XP, the free antivirus software, after this date.

This is really bad news for anyone who has Windows XP installed after this date because there are literally hundreds of security vulnerabilities detected in Windows XP every year and once support ends, all of those security holes will be exploited by hackers and there literally won’t be anything to stop them.

Several Microsoft executives have also stated openly that businesses and users who do not update the operating system or buy a new PC will be open to many new attacks. One possible solution if you still have to use XP for whatever reason is to disconnect the computer from the Internet. Obviously, the PC can still be infected over the LAN network, but you’ll have a better chance than if it’s connected directly to the Internet.

For any business that needs support for Windows XP past the April 2014 deadline, another option is to install Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 uses the same kernel as Windows XP and therefore can run all the same apps without any compatibility issues. Support for Windows Server 2003 does not end until July 15th 2023, so you can get an extra year to upgrade your apps to a newer operating system.

As for consumers, according to Microsoft’s official statement, they would love for you to upgrade to Windows 8.1.

The other reason to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8 is so that you can use the latest software and devices with your computer. XP is so old that a lot of new software simply will not run on it. In addition, some newer devices and gadgets may not be recognized by the system properly.

Upgrading an old PC to Windows 8 is actually not a bad idea. I wrote a post a while back on revitalizing an old PC by installing Windows 8 on it. The system requirements are pretty low, meaning you can install it on some fairly old hardware. Of course, you’ll have to buy Windows 8 Upgrade, which currently costs around $119, but that might be a better option than buying a new computer altogether.

If you do install Windows 8 and you get any kind of error about the CPU not being compatible, check out the link. I’ve personally installed Windows 8.1 on a couple of old desktops at home and they work great for browsing, email, watching videos, reading news, etc. With Windows 8.1, you also kind of get the Start button back, so if you have been holding back because of the lack of a Start button, it’s not that bad anymore in 8.1.
