Suggested January 2024 Can Beats Fit Pro Replace Airpods Pro As Your Go

Launched in November, Beats Fit Pro are the latest wireless earbuds by Apple brand Beats. While people are still waiting for the upcoming second-generation AirPods Pro, do Beats Fit Pro have what it takes to replace Apple’s AirPods Pro? Here’s how my experience has been so far.

Happily, this week, I was able to grab a pair, and I’ve been exhaustively wearing them to see how they compare with AirPods Pro, which I recently said are the best choice for many buyers.

First and foremost, Beats take on AirPods Pro is great, because the Beats Fit Pro has almost everything you expect from an Apple wireless earbuds: great battery life, ANC, Transparency mode, Dolby Atmos, easy-to-pair, and easy to switch between Apple devices features. In addition, the Beats Fit Pro also have an innovative wingtip design where the buds not only go in-ear, but there’s an added hook to further secure the fit.

Although I never had problems with the fit of any AirPods, I’m always eager to try new shapes. Personally, I can say that the Beats Fit Pro fit well in my ears, but after a few hours, the wingtips starts to really bother me – especially if I’m wearing them while working. Working out, on the other hand, they are really great and comfortable. For example, a 50 minute run is a delight with these earbuds.

What impresses me the most is the sound quality of the Beats Fit Pro. Overall, Apple always has a great approach regarding sound quality on its earbuds, but I really appreciate Beats rich bass. Whenever I’m working out I really want to feel the beat of the music while running, and these earbuds are perfect for that.

I’m not saying AirPods Pro sound bad – far from that – but the right playlist with the Beats Fit Pro are a perfect combination.

Beats Fit Pro aren’t always heaven on Earth

The size difference between AirPods Pro, Beats Fit Pro, and PowerBeats Pro cases

That said, there are some things that bother me about Beats’ new wireless earbuds. The case is still a bit of a whack to put in my jeans. Don’t take it personally, Beats improved 1000% if you compare them with the Powerbeats Pro case, but, come on, all AirPods just fit right in whatever pocket you put them – except for the AirPods Max – and I also still take forever to put the buds in the case. I always misplaced them, and I don’t even know why.

Secondly, the Beats Fit Pro don’t feature wireless charging technology nor MagSafe. It would be great to easily charge these earbuds on my MagSafe Duo?

But there are still features to praise

Apart from all the Apple experience, I really think it’s interesting that Beats Fit Pro charge with a USB-C cable. It’s nice that I can use the same cable for my MacBook Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and the Nintendo Switch.

Another good thing is the battery life. You have up to six hours of listening time when you use either Active Noise Cancellation or Transparency mode. With only Adaptive EQ enabled, the number increases to seven hours. The charging case adds 21 additional hours of battery life.

Although the AirPods Pro can give you more listening time when you keep charging the earbuds, the Beats Fit Pro offer a long experience in a single charge.

Finally, there are some color options for the Beats Fit Pro, which AirPods Pro don’t offer. Beats is also known for special editions of its headphones, which means it won’t take long until the company releases a newly designed pair of Beats Fit Pro so you can feel exclusive.

Who wins the battle? AirPods Pro or Beats Fit Pro?

For $199, the Beats Fit Pro are a really solid choice, but keep in mind that AirPods Pro can be found usually around $180 (the official price is $249). If you care about a powerful bass and AirPods don’t fit your ears, don’t overthink: Beats Fit Pro are the go-to product. It’s also a good choice for those who like to focus while working out. Also, here’s what 9to5Mac’s Chance Miller has to say about Beats Fit Pro on his review of the product:

“Ultimately, Beats Fit Pro are an incredibly compelling option, thanks to their excellent sound quality and design, versatile compatibility with Apple and Android devices, and a sub-$200 price point. Between this release of Beats Fit Pro, the affordable Beats Studio Buds, and more, it seems clear that Beats is firing on all cylinders right now and thriving within Apple.”

With Beats Fit Pro, you’ll pretty much get all AirPods features, but with a better shape in your ears. That said, if the wingtip doesn’t seem comfortable, just go with AirPods Pro, since these earbuds bring such a great experience.

Last but not least, I’d also love to talk a bit about AirPods 3. I really love how they fit in my ears. If you need wireless earbuds for calls, an easy listening experience, and like to be aware of your surroundings while exercising, then AirPods 3 are a perfect choice.

Here’s How Beats Studio Buds Compare Against Airpods And Airpods Pro

The newest Beats in-ear headphones have officially arrived and they come with a compelling set of features priced $100 below AirPods Pro. But even though they come with active noise cancellation, transparency mode, Hey Siri support, and more, there are some tradeoffs. Let’s look at the Beats Studio Buds vs. AirPods and AirPods Pro to see how they all stack up.

Update 6/25: Beats Studio Buds are arriving to early customers and are in stock at many Apple Stores. Shipping times for new orders are 3-4 days at the time of writing.

Below we’ve got a side-by-side comparison of Apple’s most popular fully wireless earbuds – AirPods/Pro – and the new Beats Studio Buds when it comes to design, battery life, features, and sound quality. And for more details, be sure to check out our full review:

Beats Studio Buds vs. AirPods and AirPods Pro Design

The first thing many will notice is the stemless, compact design of the Beats Studio Buds. You’re also getting an in-ear fit with three ear tip sizes included like AirPods Pro.

One benefit over AirPods/AirPods Pro is the option to go for black or red with the new Beats instead of being limited to white. However, you’re not getting a wireless charging case and will have to power that up with the included USB-C cable.

Battery life

Another leg up on AirPods is Beats Studio Buds featuring eight hours of battery life without active noise cancellation or transparency mode. If using either of those features, you still get a solid five hours. With the Beats Studio Buds charging case you get up to 24 hours of total playback, and you get the same fast charging as AirPods.

Features

Instead of using Apple’s W1 or H1 chip, the Beats Studio Buds use a custom chip that brings many of AirPods’ features but does skip a couple.

Specifically, you’re not getting auto device switching (between iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc.) and the new Beats also skip the ear-detection and auto-pause/play functionality. You do get Spatial Audio support, but not with head tracking like AirPods Pro.

Price

While Beats Studio Buds share many of the AirPods Pro features, they undercut them in price. While they’re $100 less when looking at the MSRP, it’s good to keep in mind that AirPods and AirPods Pro often sell for less than the suggested price.

Sound quality and performance

After reviewing the Beats Studio Buds, my colleague Chance found the sound quality “quite nice” but a bit less rich compared to AirPods Pro or Powerbeats Pro.

Beats Studio Buds vs. AirPods wrap-up

If you like the stemless design, the option for black and red, and an in-ear fit with ANC, the Beats Studio Buds are a great way to get most of the AirPods/AirPods Pro features at a reasonable price. But that’s as long as you don’t mind missing out on a wireless charging case, auto device switching, and ear-detection/auto-pause and play.

Beats Studio Buds are available direct from Apple (in stock at various Apple Stores) as well as Amazon (currently out of stock).

Oneplus 9 Pro Vs Oneplus 10 Pro: Should You Upgrade?

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the latest effort from OnePlus, packing the brand’s latest and greatest tech to take on the competition. After releasing it in China earlier this year, OnePlus has finally made its 2023 flagship available to global markets. But how does it compare to the 2023 OnePlus 9 Pro? Is it worth upgrading to the newer phone?

Let’s jump into all the specs and details that separate the two devices in our OnePlus 9 Pro vs OnePlus 10 Pro deep-dive comparison.

Although the display specs may be very similar, there are bigger differences once we focus on the internals. The OnePlus 9 Pro featured a 2023 flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor inside, while the OnePlus 10 Pro upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The new chip boasts improvements to gaming performance, but the CPU doesn’t see the same uplift in our benchmarks. The 9 Pro and 10 Pro both come in 8GB and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM variants, though it’s worth pointing out that the former never materialized in the US in 2023. Similarly, both phones are offered with either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, but neither has microSD card support.

Check out: The best camera phone of 2023 so far

Last, the software. The OnePlus 9 Pro shipped with Android 11 and Oxygen OS 11. It has since been updated to Android 12 and Oxygen OS 12, a collaborative software effort between OPPO and Oneplus. The 10 Pro ships with Android 12 and Oxygen OS 12 out of the box. OnePlus says the 10 Pro will receive three major OS updates and four years of security updates. That’s the same pledge as last year’s model.

Pricing for the OnePlus 9 Pro has been reduced permanently from the original retail price of $969 to $799, which is also a very good deal. It is still available from chúng tôi as well as Amazon and Best Buy. It’s not clear how long OnePlus will keep the outgoing model around.

In addition to price changes, OnePlus has tweaked this year’s colorways. The 9 Pro’s appealing Morning Mist colorway is gone. OnePlus carried over the black and green options, but the fresh Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest are now different shades. The Emerald Forest model is only available in the pricier 12GB/256GB variant.

The OnePlus 10 Pro may be the latest and greatest thing, but it’s not that much better than 2023’s OnePlus 9 Pro.

What’s a OnePlus 9 Pro owner to do? Well, it appears that OnePlus is not offering any trade-in deals on the new phone like Samsung or Apple. This means you’d have to pay full price for the OnePlus 10 Pro. Given the OnePlus 9 Pro’s permanent price cut, getting top dollar for your existing 9 Pro may be a challenge if you attempt to sell it.

Bottom line, the OnePlus 10 Pro may be the latest and greatest thing, but it’s not that much better than 2023’s OnePlus 9 Pro. Unless you’re a super-fan who absolutely needs the newest thing, you may be best served by sticking with what you already own.

Do you plan to upgrade from the OnePlus 9 Pro to the OnePlus 10 Pro?

Vivo X90 Series Released: No Phone Can Compete With X90 Pro+

The entire series is available in four colorways: Red (plain leather), Original Black (plain leather), Extreme Black (AG glass), and Ice Blue (AG glass). The company disclosed that the design was inspired by the moment when the sun rises from the sea and sky. Looking at the back of the phones, we can see a new waistline. It looks like a horizon. The camera module is like a red sun bursting out. Also, the camera uses a surgical-grade stainless steel ring. Thus, it can withstand any disaster.

VIVO X90 Standard Edition

By the way, the VIVO X90 debuts the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 processor. The latter is the world’s first to use a TSMC second-generation 4nm process. Also, it has a new generation of octa-core flagship CPU, Dimensity’s strongest flagship 11-core GPU Immortalis-G715 graphics, and the sixth-generation flagship APU.

Due to many improvements and optimizations, the phone scores 1.28 million points in AnTuTu. The overall power consumption is more than 25% lower than the Dimensity 9000.

Regarding heat dissipation, the VIVO X90 series has an ultra-wide-area ice sheet cooling system. It uses the largest 4313m㎡ among VIVO flagship phones.

Another selling point of the VIVO X90 is the VCS Bionic Spectrum camera, including a 50MP VCS IMX866 primary sensor and a 108° low-distortion 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, IMX663.

There is also a large 4810mAh battery, which supports 120W dual-core flash charging. In simple words, the phone can charge 50% in 8 minutes. The 120W mini charger inside the box can also charge computers.

The VIVO X90 is already available for booking and will start shipping on November 30.

The prices are:

8GB + 128GB: 3699 yuan ($518)

8GB + 256GB: 3999 yuan ($560)

12GB + 256GB: 4499 yuan ($630)

12GB + 512GB: 4999 yuan ($700)

VIVO X90 Pro+

The VIVO X90 standard version looks pretty nice. But there is another model that has almost no equals on the market. We are talking about the VIVO X90 Pro+, the top model of the X90 series. It uses a one-inch IMX989 sensor. The latter should be familiar to you from the Xiaomi Mi 12S Ultra. Its photosensitive area has increased by 77% compared with the previous generation. The lens has the industry’s only f/1.75 large aperture. Thus, the amount of light entering is 24% higher. The parameters include an SLR-grade glass lens with a high Abbe number of 81.6 and a Zeiss T* coating to eliminate glare and ghosting better.

VIVO also uses a self-developed imaging chip, V2. Due to it, the Zeiss one-inch T* primary camera brings some new features:

Fantastic night scene video, relying on V2 to achieve adaptive HDR;

Handheld starry sky photography, reaching CIPA 4 image optimization level;

Suspended motion capture adopts an ultra-low latency motion strategy of less than 30ms.

The ultra-wide-angle lens of the VIVO X90 Pro+ has been upgraded to a 114° low-distortion ultra-wide-angle sensor. Plus, there is a 64MP periscope telephoto lens. This is the world’s first deeply customized IMX758 sensor. Its aperture of f/1.6 also allows for using the camera as a 90mm mid-telephoto portrait camera.

Gizchina News of the week Other highlights

The screen is another highlight. The VIVO X90 Pro+ has the world’s first 2K E6 super-sensing eye protection screen. It uses Samsung’s latest generation of E6 luminescent materials. Its local peak brightness can reach 1800 nits. It supports XDR display and Dolby Vision display. The phone’s “Zeiss Natural Color” mode can realize the accurate restoration of natural colors from the front end of the shooting to the back end of the display.

The phone’s head dissipation area is 8900mm². This is essential for the real-time operation of the computational photography algorithm for a more extended period.

Though the company didn’t say, we guess the processor inside is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. We mean, it said that the chip is a new-gen 4nm flagship platform. But VIVO didn’t mention a specific model. Moreover, it supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The phone will start pre-sale on November 28 and shipping on December 6.

The prices are:

12GB + 256GB: 6499 yuan ($910)

12GB + 512GB: 6999 yuan ($980)

VIVO X90 Pro

The VIVO X90 Pro has many features in common with the vanilla variant. It still comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip, a Q9 screen, and three rear cameras.

Like the original model, the Pro version has already started getting pre-orders and will go on sale on December 6.

It costs:

8GB + 256GB: 4999 yuan ($700)

12GB + 256GB: 5499 yuan ($770)

12GB + 512GB: 5999 yuan ($840)

Iphone 14 Pro / Pro Max Will Exclusively Use The A16 Chip – Ming

Ming-Chi Kuo said that only two iPhone 14 Pro/high-end models use the latest A16 processor. This should significantly boost the shipment ratio of new high-end iPhone models to about 55-60% in 2H22 (40-50% in the past). Thus, Apple’s orders for its latest high-end chips will increase. The new shipment ratio of high-end iPhone models will become the norm, which is beneficial to high-end camera component suppliers.

Ming-Chi Kuo claims that many high-end component suppliers for the rear camera will benefit significantly. They will benefit from the significant increase in the proportion of high-end iPhone 14 models. Some of the beneficiaries will be Sony (CIS), Largan (lens), Alps (VCM / OIS) and LG Innotek (CCM). Benefiting from the increase in shipments of high-end models of iPhone 14, the output value of rear CIS, lens, VCM/OIS and CCM of iPhone 14  will also increase significantly by 30–35%, 20–25%, 15–20% and 30–35% year-on-year, respectively. Excluding low-specification ToF, the shipment share of major iPhone 14 Pro rear camera component suppliers will increase. Sony (CIS), Largan (lens), Alps (VCM / OIS) and LG Innotek (CCM) will get 100%, 60–70%, 60–70%, and 100%, respectively.

iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max core configuration and price exposure

According to recent supply chain reports, Apple suppliers have begun to ship components for the iPhone 14 model. There are speculations that this model will enter mass production soon. If everything goes according to plan, the new iPhone product launch will take place in September this year. As of now, there is no official information regarding the iPhone 14 series. However, there are speculations regarding the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. From the reports so far, the iPhone 14 Pro will sell for $1,099 while the iPhone 14 Pro Max will go for $1,199.

Gizchina News of the week

After relatively modest year-over-year upgrades between Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, Apple is expected to bring some more significant changes with this year’s iPhone 14 series. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be the models with the biggest changes. The front supports autofocus, and the rear camera supports 48-megapixel shooting and 8K video recording.

iPhone 14 series first batch to have about 90 million units

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will use a new “pill + punch screen” instead of a notch screen. This will free up some extra screen space. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max (or iPhone 14 Plus) will still retain a notch design. Furthermore, these smartphones will continue to use the A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13 series.

Apple’s new patent – can operate the device with water on the screen

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) published a new patent from Apple entitled “Modifying functionality of an electronic device during a moisture exposure” event”. The patent shows that users will be able to complete interactions such as typing when the iPhone screen is wet. This will effectively reduce accidental touches. The patent will also improve the experience of using electronic devices with water on the screen.

The patent shows that the method will add a “protective layer” to the phone’s screen, which is connected to Apple’s touch detection system. With the protective layer, the system is able to detect the force exerted on the display panel. It can also detect the presence of moisture on the screen. When the moisture level on the screen exceeds a preset threshold, the algorithm will adjust the digitizer in response to the user’s actions. It will take into account the additional pressure as a result of moisture. In addition, when the user uses the iPhone underwater, the UI of the iPhone will change. For example, the App icon will be larger and easier to press when using the camera underwater.

The feature may be turned on by default and activated automatically when moisture is detected. However, the patent also shows a possible future option in the iPhone that would allow users to manually toggle the feature. Of course, as a patent, it is still unknown whether Apple will introduce this feature in future iPhones. Nevertheless, from the perspective of patents, this feature is still very useful.
