Suggested January 2024 Fetch As Google Is Getting Better, Now Renders Pages As Googlebot Sees Them
Google announced on their Webmaster Central blog today that they have recently updated their Fetch As Google tool, which now gives users the ability to render a page exactly how Googlebot sees it.
How It WorksBefore using the Fetch as Google, you’ll need to have added and verified your site in Webmaster Tools. Then, follow these instructions:
In the text box, type the path to the page you want to check.
In the dropdown list, select the type of fetch you want. To see what our web crawler Googlebot sees, select Web. To see what our mobile crawler for smartphones sees, select Mobile Smartphone. To see what our mobile crawler for feature phones sees, select Mobile cHTML (this is used mainly for Japanese web sites) or Mobile XHTML/WML.
You can use this tool to fetch up to 500 URLs a week per Webmaster Tools account. When rendering a page, Googlebot will try fetch all the external files as well. Such as images, CSS and JavaScript files. These files are then used to render a preview image that allows you to see your page as Googlebot sees it.
Practical Uses Of This ToolGoogle suggests that this is useful to diagnose a page’s poor performance in search results, because you will be able to diagnose crawling errors. If Google is not able to render the page as you intend for Googlebot to see it, then that could have a negative effect on your ranking in search results.
Google also suggests that this new feature is useful for identifying problematic pages in the event that your site has been hacked. For example, if your site is appearing in search results for popular spam terms when those terms don’t exist in your source code, then you can use the Fetch as Google tool to understand exactly what Google is seeing on your site.
Something like the above example can happen when the security of your site is compromised by a hacker. Hackers can disguise the content of your site so that it doesn’t appear to normal users, only to Googlebot. Since the content appears normal to everyone else, the problem is difficult to diagnose without the Fetch as Google tool.
Fetch As Google will not render anything being blocked by chúng tôi If you are disallowing the crawling of some of your files, then Google won’t be able to show them to you in the rendered view. For more information, see this support article.

Telegram Vs. Whatsapp: Is Telegram As Good As Whatsapp?
Even though it may be hard to admit for some, WhatsApp is the king when it comes to messaging. With more than 2 billion active users, it seems that WhatsApp has no real competitor. However, some users have opted for an alternative with more and better options and one that cares about their privacy. The alternative is Telegram.
With Facebook investing billions on WhatsApp, there is no doubt that WhatsApp’s success was assured. Nonetheless, if we compare WhatsApp to Telegram from a technical standpoint, the former comes up short.
Find out what you’ve missed by not giving the lesser-known messenger apps a chance they deserve.
Telegram Has a Better Desktop AppWhile Telegram has not been around as long as WhatsApp, it’s still considered a great desktop app. Telegram supports Windows, Linux, and Mac. Moreover, if you don’t feel like installing any software, you can also use Telegram on your favorite web browser by logging in to your Telegram account.
Those who have used either WhatsApp web or the desktop app know all too well how tricky it is to make it work consistently. It constantly has to be open to keep it working. Otherwise, you have to sync it with your smartphone, again! That is not very convenient if you have six or seven more tabs open as well. Telegram’s web app works well, and it also offers you all the functions you would find in the Android and iOS apps.
Moreover, the WhatsApp desktop app often stops working altogether, requiring a full reinstall. For a corporation that has effectively infinite resources, this doesn’t inspire confidence. No matter how many times people post reports and solutions to this chronic problem, it doesn’t seem to be going away.
Chats That Self-DestructIf you are worried about the privacy of your conversations, Telegram offers end-to-end encryption. In other words, the messages never go through Telegram’s servers. The messages are encrypted and decrypted in the user’s device.
You can also start chats that self-destruct. You can program the chats to self-destruct after a certain amount of time, and once the time is up, that message is gone. Telegram can also let you know if the other person has taken a screenshot of your conversation so that you know who you can and can’t trust.
While WhatsApp has the equivalent in the form of Disappearing Messages, the user has to enable it to auto-delete messages after seven days.
Greater Media FlexibilityIn every instant messaging service, you can upload images, but Telegram has taken it one step further. Along with allowing users to take either a picture or choose one from the gallery, it also allows them to look for one directly from the Web, or create their own stickers.
You can search for images and GIFs that will reproduce once they are in the conversation. The same applies to videos, and you can see the exact size of each attached video before you decide to play it. Don’t you just love Telegram already?
Telegram Has a Drastically Greater File Size LimitUp until 2023, you couldn’t send a wide range of file types on WhatsApp, including Word and Excel files, PDFs, and various video formats. After catching up with Telegram, you can now share any file type on WhatsApp. However, Facebook is still stingy when it comes to the maximum file size that can be shared.
With Telegram, you don’t have to include third-party apps if you want to send large files. You can easily send and receive large files with ease. This is something that WhatsApp lacks.
Usernames Instead of Phone NumbersIf you don’t want to share your phone number to talk to someone, no problem. You can choose a username, and through that, anyone can add you to their contacts. This is a great way that Telegram respects your privacy. WhatsApp users have no choice but to add to their contacts list the person they want to talk to, even if it is someone who is selling something on eBay.
Telegram Is Completely FREE Telegram Supports Bigger Groups than WhatsAppWhatsApp users can only enjoy groups of up to 256 users, but Telegram’s limit is up to 200,000. If you have more than 500 friends you want to keep in contact with, then you’re all set with Telegram.
Eliminate Your Account from the WebLosing or having your phone stolen can be a real pain – unless you have an app installed where you can wipe your phone clean. Whoever gains access to your phone will be able to see everything, and that includes your conversations.
Telegram allows its users to eliminate their accounts on the web app and erase everything. With this option, there is no doubt that Telegram gives its users peace of mind when it comes to their private information.
With WhatsApp, it may take up to 90 days to permanently delete your account. More importantly, in January, WhatsApp announced the change of its privacy policies for business accounts, which received a massive backlash, as WhatsApp is set to be more tightly integrated with Facebook. Needless to say, previous privacy scandals involving Facebook triggered an exodus of users to Telegram and other secure messenger apps.
Wrapping UpIt is clear that the one who should be the king here is Telegram and not WhatsApp, but hopefully, as more people get to know Telegram, they will see a huge difference between the two messengers. Telegram offers a superior alternative while costing you nothing in return – for now.

Google Analytics 4 Now Supports Accelerated Mobile Pages (Amp)
Today, Google Ads Liaison Ginny Marvin announced that Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) support is now available for all websites in Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
Marvin stated,
“Today, we’re rolling out support for AMP in GA4 to all publishers. A simple update to your amp-analytics configuration will enable analytics to start flowing immediately into GA4.”
AMP & GA4 Integration DetailsWhile AMP pages are similar to HTML and work in any browser, they don’t support the chúng tôi used in Google Analytics. Instead, a separate tag is explicitly provided for AMP.
User identification for AMP is different as well. In GA4, user identifiers are randomly generated and stored in local storage or cookies.
The user identifier is reset when the user clears cookies and local storage. That means IP masking is unnecessary, as IP addresses aren’t logged or stored in GA4.
RequirementsTo collect data, you must implement the AMP Analytics tag. AMP Analytics collects page data, user data, browsing data, browser data, interaction data, and event data.
Additionally, Google requires all websites to disclose to users how data is collected and used in GA4 and provide an option to opt out.
LimitationsGA4 has some limitations regarding AMP. It doesn’t support consent mode settings, dynamic configuration, ecommerce events, or additional enhancements available in standard Google Analytics.
More AMP capabilities will be added over time, according to Google.
Google AMP Client ID API & Cache AnalysisIt’s worth noting that Google recently introduced the AMP Client ID API to track users across AMP pages better.
Until now, if a user interacted with your content on both your website and through Google viewers like the Google AMP viewer or Google Search, they would appear as two separate users in your analytics since the content was being served in two different contexts.
The AMP Client ID API allows you to associate a consistent identifier with a single user across these contexts to gain a complete view of their engagement with your AMP content regardless of where it’s served.
Next StepsYou can configure Analytics to track how users interact with your AMP pages on Google’s cache versus your website.
To do so, follow these steps:
Add the following code to the Analytics tag on your AMP pages:
vars: { 'ampHost': '${ampdocHost}' }
In your Google Analytics 4 property, set up a custom parameter named “ampHost” to track where the AMP page is served.
Relaunch your AMP pages for the changes to take effect.
Once you’ve completed those steps, GA4 will track whether each AMP pageview came from your domain or the Google AMP cache and send that information to your reports under the “ampHost” custom parameter.
This can provide visibility into user engagement across the contexts in which your AMP content is served.
For more on GA4 & AMP, see Google’s official help document.

Fix – Google For Android Shows As Offline
Users of the Google app or the Google Assistant for Android may find times when the app displays a message that says “Offline. No network available. Check your connection and try again.“. It may display this message even when there’s an Internet connection. Here are the simple steps that can help fix the issue and get started with your work or play.
The Google app of any Android phone is the hub for many built-in features and functionalities of the overall Android experience. This single app controls Google Search, Google Assistant AI, Google News, Google Translate, Identify Song, Google Discover, Google Collections, and many more. If this app is down, you lose many utilities of your Android smartphone. So, when facing any Google app functionality issues, get started with the following troubleshooting ideas to fix it for good.
What Is Google App?You may know it just by the Google Search box on your smartphone Home Screen. You can actually open the parent Google app from the app drawer. It’ll just say Google with a Google’s G logo. It’s a built app for all smartphones that use the stock Android or any modified version of Google Android. You can’t uninstall or shut down this app because it takes care of many background functionalities of the smartphone. Here are some examples:
When you quickly search for something on Android, that’s the Google app.
If you swipe from the left edge of the screen on your smartphone, you get a bunch of news articles. This is also the Google app.
When you redirect Chrome from Chrome to another app, the Google app takes care of the redirection.
Not to mention, all small but great help like in-app text translation, reverse photo search, weather update, etc., are also from the Google app.
What’s This Google App Offline Error?Google app is pretty neat! It’s lightweight and doesn’t bog down the device like other mega apps. However, it has its own share of glitches and funny errors that are highly annoying. For example, the following are the most common issues that you can face while using the Google app:
It looks like you’re offline
Check your network connection and try again
No data connection
Google Assistant keeps loading when you say Okay Google
In all the above errors, the Google app thinks that the Android system doesn’t have access to a functional internet network, either through mobile data or Wi-Fi. Though, you might see that network bars are there or the internet is working on Chrome. When you face the above, try these troubleshooting ideas without wasting time:
Double-Check Mobile or Wi-Fi InternetIf the Google app is showing the internet isn’t available, then it’s worth checking whether your mobile or Wi-Fi internet is actually working or not. Open YouTube or any other content streaming app and try to watch a video. If it works, the internet isn’t the problem.
Sometimes, your Android device may show mobile internet is active but it’s not downloading or uploading any data due to network issues. Swipe down the notifications shade from the top of the device screen and activate Airplane mode. After 10 to 15 seconds, disable the Airplane mode. This will force a reset of the cellular network strength. Now, switch off and on the mobile data internet button on the device.
Now, open the Google app and see if it’s serving the latest news or not. You could also search for something online on Google Search.
Contact IT Admin for Organization Managed DevicesAre you using an Android smartphone given to you by your employer or using your own Android but the employer is managing it for the organization’s security reasons? In that case, you need to check with the IT admin of your organization. Sometimes, businesses may disable third-party app logins using work or business emails. Thus, the Google app won’t work in such cases.
Sign-In to Google App Using a Personal EmailIf you’re unable to use the Google app from a business email, try signing in with a personal email like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook email, Apple Mail, and so on. It also fixes the Google app offline error.
Open the Android Settings app.
Navigate to the Passwords & accounts.
There, touch the Add account option.
On the Add an account screen, choose the email service from the provided list.
Let’s choose Google.
On the Verify that it’s you pop-up, authenticate the action using your fingerprint or PIN.
Enter your email or mobile phone number and tap Next on the Google Sign in screen.
Enter a password or OTP to complete the sign-in process.
Now, open the Google app from the app drawer and tap your profile picture in the top right corner.
There, tap the drop-down arrow beside your previous email.
An email selection menu will pop down.
Choose the newly-added email.
This should fix the Google app issue instantly!
Force Stop and Restart Google AppHere’s how you can stop the app from working in the background and restart from the app drawer to fix the Google app offline error:
Open the app drawer and long-press the Google app.
Three to four context menu-type cards will pop up.
There, tap the (i) icon to open the App info window of the Google app.
Touch the Force stop button.
Now, go to the Home Screen.
Again open the apps drawer and launch the Google app.
Check if Google Assistant or Search works or not.
Uninstall All Updates of the Google AppWhen the Google app doesn’t work as intended, you may also try uninstalling all the recent updates. This will revert the app back to the factory version. Sometimes recent updates contain minor bugs that cripple the app after updating. However, the developer quickly releases a patch to fix that. Until the patch is there, you can use the app in the factory version. Here’s what you need to do to fix the Google app offline issue:
Open Google Play Store and tap your profile picture.
Touch the cogwheel icon to access the Settings screen.
There, tap Network preferences.
Now, tap on Auto-update apps.
Choose Don’t auto-update apps from the pop-up that shows up.
Go to the App info screen of the Google app. You already know the steps from the previous troubleshooting.
There, you’ll see the kebab or three dots menu in the top right corner.
Tap on that menu and then choose Uninstall updates from the context menu that shows up.
The Google app will close. Now, open the app from the app drawer and see if it’s working or not. If it’s working, update Google apps a few days later. Don’t forget to switch back to auto-update apps on the Play Store by reversing the above steps to disable auto-update.
Clear Cache and Data of Google AppIf you don’t want to uninstall updates of the Google app, you may consider clearing the cache and app data of Google data. Here’s how it’s done:
Go to the Google app’s App info page as you did previously.
There, tap Storage & cache.
Inside Storage, touch the Clear cache button.
Now, touch the Manage space button.
On the Google Search Storage screen, tap Clear Google Search Data and Clear All Data.
Update Android OSIf you turned off automatic updates of your Android device, you can face various app compatibility issues. Thus, you must update the device to its latest security patches and OS upgrades. Head over to this excellent coverage of “How to Check for Updates on Android” and give this a shot.
Once you update an Android, it should restart automatically. If it doesn’t restart your device by long pressing the power button on the side of the device and then choosing Restart on the screen. Now, check if Google Assistant or Search works perfectly or not.
Wrapping UpNext up, how to fix not enough storage on Android.
A Teamwork Tool As Versatile As Your Workforce
Web conferencing technologies — from HD cameras to intuitive software — have enabled companies and organizations to stay connected and productive, even when getting together in person has been hard or impossible. Seeing familiar faces and sharing work remotely on computer screens has bridged divides, but the next big leap forward is display technology. Display technology enables rich, fluid collaboration between people, whether they’re in the same room or all over the world.
Interactive whiteboards have grown increasingly common in environments as varied as corporate meeting rooms and kindergarten classrooms. A new class of interactive, hypercollaborative Samsung displays embraces the spirit and foundational aspects of those digital whiteboards and gives them superpowers that make learning, sharing and collaboration easy and impactful, whether everyone is gathered as a group, or working and learning separately from home offices and kitchen tables.
And that’s where the latest in interactive technology will prove effective: Samsung’s Interactive Display comes in as a wall-mounted or stand-based, 85-inch, OPS-backed, multi-touch all-in-one dynamo that can suit the needs of anyone from the boardroom to the classroom and their at-home counterparts.
Bigger and even betterThe latest in collaboration tools — Samsung’s Interactive Display — is changing team capabilities, packing a monster punch with its size: a wall-mounted 85-inch 4K resolution display that takes on the same kind of big visual canvas dimensions of classroom chalkboards and meeting space dry-erase boards. Here are the other highlights:
A wide selection of connectivity options are standard, including USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, near-field communication (NFC) and an Open Pluggable Slot (OPS) in the display that allows a compatible PC to be loaded.
Viewing and changes can be synchronized between the Samsung Interactive Display and a laptop. For example, a meeting leader can connect a personal device to the 85-inch display using the “touch out” function — controlling the content on the big display from a keyboard. In brainstorming sessions, edits made to the content on the large screen also change on the laptop display, and vice versa.
Forms and templates make the Interactive Display useful throughout a working day — running messaging, schedules and other need-to-know information, even when not in active use.
Easy sharing tools allow meeting leaders and educators to quickly capture and distribute the meeting output, whether brainstorming notes, marked-up drawings and other visuals, or new material shared by participants or found online, using the built-in browser.
Pen and brush modes allow as many as 20 simultaneous users for drawing, note taking or producing original, high-definition content.
Making wherever workWith an inexorable shift to remote working and learning accelerated by global health concerns in 2023, tools that go beyond voice and video calls, emails and attachments are more important than ever. It can be particularly important for executives who find themselves working from home, detached from their teams but still needing to visually communicate ideas and plans. For example, a chief technology officer (CTO) working virtually from the comfort of their home office can use a Samsung Interactive Display to mark up the plans for a major IT overhaul, while those same visuals show up on a sister device (the Flip 2 or another Samsung Interactive Display) running on the network at the main office, where a few colleagues have gathered at a limited capacity.

Similar scenarios could play out across many industries and working and learning environments. Consider what might happen in education, healthcare and in the creative industry:
TeachingClassrooms become more engaging and active when students can get up and use a large screen that everyone can see. As many as 20 people can use a Samsung Interactive Display simultaneously — whether they’re working out math equations, drawing pictures, making lists or marking up and editing images pulled from the internet.
The 85-inch Samsung Interactive Display has a built-in document viewer, allowing participants to access, show, discuss and work with files commonly used on computers and other personal devices. Built-in image editing tools let users easily select, move, crop, capture and edit images. Activity is built and archived around the idea of rolls, with as many as 20 pages or screens worth of writing or activity saved to a roll. Students working remotely can get the full recaps, including the visuals and annotations, effortlessly sent their way by email.
Caregiving CreatingConventional paper flip charts and marker-based whiteboards limit the creative collaboration process to note taking and simple drawings. The Samsung Interactive Display’s high-precision multimedia capabilities enable creative teams to do everything from mark up proofs from graphic designers to create original designs — using stylus pen and brush tools. Creatives can draw bold oil paint strokes with a pen or create delicate watercolor scenes with a highly sensitive brush.
Chalkboards and whiteboards have been central to learning, sharing and innovating for decades. The new 85-inch Samsung Interactive Display takes that idea and optimizes it for today’s working and learning climate.

Google May Treat Antonyms As Synonyms In Some Cases
Google’s Gary Illyes explains a case where a word that means the opposite may be treated as a low weight synonym when returning search results.
The example he discusses is a search for “buy cars” in which the word “sell” would be considered a synonym.
“Buy” and “sell” are antonyms — so why would Google return pages about selling cars when a user is looking for information about buying one?
To answer that question let’s dive into the conversation between Illyes and Google’s John Mueller, which takes place in episode 19 of the Search Off the Record podcast.
The episode focuses on information retrieval and how Google parses queries to return search results. Their discussion delves into synonyms and how a term like “purchase auto” is a low weight signal for the term “buy car.”
Mueller then asks the following question:
“One of the things I noticed, you were talking about “buy cars” and “buy automobiles” and all of these things, would we also consider “sell” a synonym to “buy”?
In the sense, like if I’m searching “to buy a car,” would we say, well, we’re looking for pages that say “sell car“?”
Sometimes Mueller even has to ask questions about search. Here’s the response from Illyes.
Antonyms As Low Weight SynonymsIllyes responds with a definitive yes. Google will, in fact, look for pages that mention “sell car” when a user is searching for “buy car.”
He clarifies that “sell” is a lower weight signal than “buy,” but it’s still considered relevant to the user’s query.
“Yes. You are touching on a topic that’s very interesting from information retrieval perspective… But yes, we would consider that a low weight synonym. So “buy” and “sell” from information retrieval perspective is kind of synonyms, which can also cause confusions of course. Hence, why the weighting was introduced.”
Mueller follows up by asking if this is something site owners should take into consideration when writing content.
Using the same example — if a site owner is creating a page about selling cars should they try to mention the term “buy car”?
“I don’t think so, because if you are just creating a site for the user and you are loading the page with content that is relevant for what the user can do on that page, like purchase a car, for example, then you wouldn’t want to overload that page with the term “sell” because your primary target is to make the user buy through your website a car, right?
And then there’s a subsection of users who would want to also sell their car. But they are not your target audience. Your target is to make the user buy a car.
… And as far as I remember from my marketing classes from uni is that you have to– well, actually, not marketing but writing classes– is to tell the person reading the content what you want from them…”
This is a good example of the difference between writing for users versus writing for search engines.
Google may return pages that mention “sell cars” when a user is looking for “buy cars,” but that doesn’t mean you should write a page optimizing for both terms.
Think like a marketer and keep the page focused on the action you want users to take after reading the content.
