Hot Wheels, the latest Forza Horizon 3 DLC, brings a series of exciting new features and improvements to the table. Unfortunately, the expansion is also affected by a series of technical issues.
In this article, we’re going to list the most common Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels issues on both PC and console, as well as their corresponding workarounds whenever available.Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels reported bugs
Players can’t back out of the buy screen
I’m unable to back out of the hot wheels screen right after the short video after the new hot wheels update.
To fix this problem, follow these steps:
Load up Forza Horizon 3 and go to the “Buy Now” screen you are stuck at.
Press the Xbox Guide button to go back to the dashboard and open up the Forza Hub App. Do not shut the game down.
Open up the Hot Wheels is Here! Story on the Forza Hub App.
Press the black “Play Now” button on the first page of the story and select Continue when prompted.
Go back to the game. You should now be able to back out of the “Buy Now” screen.
Hot Wheels won’t install
Many players report that they can’t install the Hot Wheel extension because the download process suddenly stops. Sometimes, error 0x87E00005 appears on the screen as well.
Updated FH3 last night, and this morning, I go to install the expansion itself. It gets to just over 1GB, then it suddenly stops […] I’ve restarted my console, and gone to install it again, and it won’t download at all. It gave me an error code: 0x87E00005
If you’ve encountered this issue, try performing a hard reset. First, close all your games and hold the X button down until the system shuts down. Then, disconnect the external power from the wall plug and wait one minute.
Plug the power cord back in, restart the console, and then wait until the device self-checks and fully boots to the dashboard. This time, the Hot Wheels extension should install smoothly.
Low FPS issues
When driving through a Loop-the-Loop alongside multiple cars in an online session, the frame rate dips noticeably.
Players further detail that this issue often occurs only when they are looking forward during sunrise or sunset, or when multiple cars are on-screen at the same time.
Players don’t have access to all their cars
I have gotten 100 medals and completed the goliath race but i only have access to the Rip Rod, the bone shaker, and the twin mill. how do i get the rest of my cars
To get all your cars, simply go to the autoshow and DLC tile, then go to All cars and collect them from there.
Blizzard Mountain won’t load after installing Hot Wheels
after the Hot Wheels Expansion the game won´t let me travel to Blizzard Mountain. I´m always stuck in in infinite loadingscreen.
Turn 10 Studios has already acknowledged this issue and is working on a fix.

At the same time, Nvidia GeForce Driver 397.31 also brings issues of its own. There is already a list of known issues that you can check out on Nvidia’s website. Apart from these bugs, gamers also encountered other problems after updating their graphics cards.Nvidia GeForce Driver 397.31 reported issues
1. Install fails
Many gamers reported that the update process often fails with various errors or simply freezes. If you’re experiencing the same problem, you can try to do a custom installation. Users confirmed that this quick workaround helped them install the update after the first attempt failed.
Also, install error 43 seems to affect many GeForce GTX 1060 cards from three particular hardware manufacturer. Nvidia is already aware of this problem and is working on a fix:
Based on the emails I have received so far from end users, I believe the Code 43 error upon installing driver 397.31 on a GeForce GTX 1060 cards mostly/only affects cards from PNY, Palit and Gainward.
If you encountered this bug on cards from a different card maker, contact Nvidia support.
I had the exect same thing, my second monitor had no input and my resolution was really low. I think its just a bad update for some… i reinstalled the previous version of my drivers and now everything is working again!

3. FPS drops
Gamers also experienced FPS drops on certain Nvidia GPU models such as the 1050TI. Reverting to a previous driver fixed the problem.
I had issues with 1050 ti (Gigabyte 1050TI WF OC4) Laggy UI in sove work software, drop in FPS in a game. Reverting to older fixed the issues.
4. Exclusive full screen won’t work
Some gamers can’t play their favorites games on full screen mode after installing driver 397.31. This is quite an annoying bug as it limits the overall gaming experience. Fortunately, this problem affects only a few games such as Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 has a problem with driver 397.31. Exclusive fullscreen doesn’t work, the game always reverts immediately to windowed mode whenever I use the game’s settings menu to change to fullscreen, or if I press Alt + Enter. This was not an issue with previous drivers, as I played the game today using 391.35 before updating the driver, and it ran fine in exclusive fullscreen.

Dishonored 2 issues: game freezes, low FPS rate, control lag, and more
Dishonored 2 is now available in Early Access for those who pre-ordered it. Steam’s stats confirm that 8,000 gamers are playing Dishonored 2. The game’s official release is scheduled to take place tomorrow, November 11.
Dishonored 2 will also have a day-one patch of 9GB and for a good reason: Early Access players already report the game is affected by various issues that severely limit the gaming experience. It’s likely the patch won’t fix all Dishonored 2 bugs, and we’ve prepared a list of the most common issues reported by gamers so that you know what to expect. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be experiencing all these issues.Dishonored 2 reported issues Game download stops at 65%
This is definitely a very annoying issue for all the gamers who are dying to play Dishonored 2. The download process suddenly stops and when players want to resume it, an error message appears on the screen.
Anyone know what to do? it’s installing on my external HD that has about 400gb left of free space.Low FPS rate
Many gamers complain that Dishonored 2’s low FPS rate causes stuttering even on low settings. For the time being, there is no clear workaround available to fix this bug.
Game runs horrible, even on low settings i got like 30 fps, if anyone has a solution which might help, pls let me know.White dots around edges in certain places
Some gamers also report that there are white dots around edges, especially on ceilings. These white speckles can become very distracting at times. The good news is that you can quickly fix this bug by using the TXAAx1 method on far right in the menu. The downside of this solution is that it makes everything look a bit blurry.
White dots around certain edges in the game. it appears to be mostly the ceilings and no where else which means it is not artifacting. anyone know of a fix for this. The game crashes at loading screen
So I verified the cache and tried everything but it keeps crashing at the loading screen with Emily and Corvo. Anyone else running into this issue? […] I’m also running DirectX 11. Could you guys please help out? I really want to play it and would even be willing to deal with crappy framerate but not getting past the first screen is annoying as hell.Dishonored 2 freezes
Players report that the game runs fine for the first 10-15 minutes but then suddenly freezes. The game becomes unresponsive and a window pops up with an annoying “Check for solutions” message.
Game will with out fail run fine for 5-10 minutes and then Freeze. The last triggered audio will play itself out, be it Emily’s voice or a cut scene character, and then the game becomes unresponsive and windows pops up the “check for solutions” box. […] I’ve tried lowering various settings but the crashing persists. I have the latest Nvidia driver and Windows update. Any idea what to try next?Control bugs
Dishonored 2 players are also complaining about control lag. Often, it takes a few seconds for your action to translate into the game. There is no solution for this bug yet.Dishonored 2 is stuck in Windowed Mode
Other issues include:
Obscured edges of the screen. This gets even worse when gamers crouch, as the effect is a strange blurry overlay on the corners of the screen.
There’s no button option for (hold) lean left and right: “I really just want to be able to tap lean to peak like in the last game, and it should be sped up a bit as well right now it feels a bit too slow and the disoriented slanted state it leaves you in is ridiculous and disorienting when you’re trying to move away from that state.”
Mouse aim is locked to certain speeds : “It doesn’t act like traditional mouse acceleration, what it feels like is more like it’s locked to certain speeds where I’ll move quickly to a point and stop and it’ll take a second for the screen to catch up”
There’s no description on any of the graphical or HUD options.

Fortunately, you can fix that. Dive into the settings and you’ll find a surprising number of tweaks you can make to the interface. If you haven’t already spent some time in there, I highly recommend it. You may find a few features you didn’t know about before.
Not sure where to start? You can take a cue from my favorites. Among the list are five settings I absolutely have to change in order to find Gmail usable, and they’re pretty universal. Try them out, and if you don’t end up liking them, you can make different adjustments for your account.
Maximum page size: I can’t stand seeing only a handful of messages at one time, and to me, anything under 50 messages is a handful. I bump that number straight up to 100.
Undo send: Sometimes I’m too quick to hit “Send” on an email (or Alt + Enter). Enabling this feature lets me snatch back the email before it’s truly sent to fix a typo or rephrase a sentence I’m having second thoughts about. I set my window of opportunity to the max of 30 seconds, but you can go shorter.
Keyboard shortcuts: I’m fast with a mouse, but even faster when jamming on my keyboard. With only a handful of these enabled, they make my life so much easier. And if I ever forget a command, typing ? while in Gmail brings up a handy cheat sheet. Plus, you can also turn on custom keyboard shortcuts to really supercharge these.
Unread message icon: For some people, seeing how many unread messages they have isn’t useful (and might give the heebie-jeebies). But I leave only messages requiring follow up in my Inbox, so seeing that icon number change is subtle and effective way to know when I should jump back into my Gmail tab.
Stars: You can star email to more easily follow up on the messages—but that one yellow star is a default that’s easily changed to include more color options. I detailed the step-by-step of turning these on in a separate tip, precisely because going from one color to the full set of 12 was productivity game changer for me.
These are so helpful for keeping track of my important email.
I love these as a starter set, but there are other settings I like to turn off, mostly because they annoy me as a writer and editor—the grammar suggestions, smart compose, and smart reply. The first two irritate me (for now, Google doesn’t know the English language better than I do) and the latter always makes me feel like I’m going to press the wrong button and not only send a stiff, canned robo-response—but to someone I absolutely didn’t want to send one to.
Once you’ve tried these on for size, you can do other things in Gmail to make it work better for you. Perhaps it’s time to purge unneeded email (which might make the unread message icon a more useful feature). Or if you need, you can download a copy your email. And of course, if someone just won’t quit sending you unwanted email, you can block them.
Every summer, reporters from around the world call Ollie Jay to ask one question: Does consuming hot liquids in the summer really cool you off?
Jay and his team had nine men cycle for 75 minutes with a fan blowing at them, evaporating any sweat. The volunteers drank water ranging in temperature from an icy cold 35°F to a hot 122°F. The researchers found that when the men cycled and drank hot water, they lost 56 kilojoules more of energy in the form of heat compared to when they drank room temperature water. But when the volunteers drank the chilly liquid, they actually gained 21 kilojoules compared to the same situation.
“It’s kind of this paradoxical idea,” says Jay. “A cold fluid feels cooler when it goes inside of you, but it doesn’t really make you cooler because you reduce your sweating.”
The key to this energy exchange is good ol’ sweat. For every gram of perspiration which evaporates from your skin, you lose approximately 2.43 kilojoules of energy. The men who drank hot water gained 52 extra kilojoules of heat from the water. But when the sweat started pouring off their bodies, the men also lost 108 kilojoules of heat from sweat evaporation. When it came to chilly drinks, the opposite happened. The men produced much less sweat, and therefore experienced less evaporation. While the cold water cooled them down by 138 kilojoules, that wasn’t enough to counteract the 159 kilojoules retained from decreased evaporation on their skin. When the cyclists drank room temperature water, the amount of heat they gained versus the amount they lost stayed the same.
Okay, so drinking hotter drinks makes you sweat more and lose more heat, whereas colder drinks cool you down, but not quite enough. So should everyone start downing hot tea in the middle of a scorching August afternoon? Probably not.
But, what was the connection between the water’s temperature and the mens’ sweat levels? The experiment didn’t change the volunteers’ internal body temperatures. So how could the body have known whether to turn down or up the sweat production?
Jay hypothesized that it must have happened somewhere along the water’s path. There were nerve endings in either the mens’ stomachs or mouths called thermoreceptors which could sense temperatures and exerted much of the control over sweat rates. So in 2014, he ran a new experiment. Volunteers either rinsed their mouths out with water of varying temperatures, or directly injected the water into their stomachs through a nasogastric tube in order to completely bypass the mouth.
It turned out that gargling water didn’t change sweat levels. However, the water pumped directly into their stomachs did. Cold water made the volunteers sweat less while hot water made the volunteers sweat more.
But these receptors in the stomach are hardly the only temperature receptors in your body. As you may know, after an intense workout, many people put ice packs on the back of their necks to cool down. “That feels really good, right?” says Jay. “But that’s not cooling your brain down.”
Blood might be rushing by just underneath the skin, but there’s not a lot of heat being exchanged between the ice and your blood. Instead the nerve endings there act as temperature receptors, just like in the stomach, and make you feel cooler even if you aren’t.
You might have experienced something similar at night if you woke up feeling too warm. Your feet have nerves with a similar function. “In bed, one of the first things you’ll try to do to feel cool is to pop your feet out from under the bottom of the sheet,” says Jay. “The amount of extra cooling you get is obviously not going to be that much, but it has a disproportional influence on how cool or how hot you feel.”
So now you know that you can thank the temperature receptors in your stomach for the relief you feel after a giant slushie and for the sweat you create when you gingerly sip a steaming cup of coffee. But if you are looking for the best way to cool down on a hot summer day, you should probably just head indoors or at least out of direct sunlight.
ZPM drops automated coffee & Kickstarter backers
ZPM’s PID-controlled espresso machine sounded too good to be true. Billed as “a home espresso machine that provides commercial quality temperature and pressure consistency at an affordable price”, the Kickstarter easily blasted through their $20,000 goal on the way to just under $370,000 in funding. That was three years ago, almost to the day. As backers waited, the company dragged their heels on delivery. Via an update to backers, we learn they’re ditching the product altogether, and won’t be issuing refunds.
The idea was pretty lofty to begin with. For as little as $20, the project promised to bring artisanal coffee to you, fully automated. Backers were promised “customizable temperature and pressure, pre-infusion” and “shot-time settings”. It was like having a human barista in your kitchen.
Except it wasn’t human, nor was it totally believable. Unbelievable earned it $370,000, though.
Via Reddit (none of the SlashGear team backed the project), we learn that the COO of ZPM has left, and is “taking most of our team with her.” According to the update, she left in early December. Since then, they’ve been exploring legal remedies to the situation and searching for new team members.
Ultimately, the team remaining says the COO leaving and inability to source additional funding left them without a direction forward.
After nearly three years and no viable product.
They won’t be refunding backers, though they say they plan to open-source their work to-date, and are “having conversations with several other parties to see if we can’t create a situation where your pledges are still honored and you guys get something for all your support of this project.”
Kickstarter’s new rules about refunds or products issued were implemented after ZPM completed their funding, so they’re probably not bound to the same rules existing projects are. Even if they were, ZPM clearly isn’t solvent enough to issue full refunds.
Here is the full update to backers, via Reddit:
Unfortunately we do not have good news to report. At the beginning of December our COO informed us that, effective immediately and with no notice, she would be leaving the company and taking most of our team with her. Since then she’s been radio silent. This halted the progress the company was making, and left us reeling.
We explored our legal options, started a search for a new team, and reached out to our existing investors to get a bridge round together. Even though they were very supportive, at the end of the day, we were not able to get a big enough bridge round together to move forward. While we’ve looked into several other financing options, after serious consideration, we reached the decision to shut the company down. We are currently ending all operations.
It was an incredibly difficult choice to make, given the funds, effort, and time put into the company. We have poured 3+ years of our lives and all our personal savings into ZPM, because we believed — and still do — that there is a huge need in the market for what we’re doing, and that we’ve made an amazing product that can get the job done.
The vast majority of the funds have been spent on development and inventory, and we will most likely be unable to offer refunds. However, we are currently having conversations with several other parties to see if we can’t create a situation where your pledges are still honored and you guys get something for all your support of this project. Please stay tuned — we will keep you up-to-date on this front in the coming month, and very much hope to see a silver lining come out of it.
If nothing does, then we will be pushing out as much as we can, and open-sourcing and releasing all our designs and code. Either way, we will also later be putting out information on the financials and challenges we faced that we were unable to openly discuss before.
Thank you all very much. Working on this project was the most ambitious and meaningful undertaking any of us have ever attempted. Getting to know all of you, and working to create some seriously cool technology was one of the most rewarding things we’ve ever done. We are deeply and truly sorry that despite our best efforts, we were not able to get this machine across the finish line.
