There’s no denying how popular Discord has become; especially within the gaming community as a way to stream games, chat with friends, and join a community of your favorite games, genres, or franchises.
One of these features is the use of bots for Discord which can add so much functionality and a bespoke experience to your server. They can also provide automated activities that are fun and can improve the overall experience for users.
Today we will show you how to add bots to Discord for mobile.
1
Find Your Bots
One thing to note before beginning is that there isn’t much difference between adding bots via mobile as it is with desktop.
So if you are already familiar with this method you can skip most of the steps.
There are many ways to add bots to the Discord server as there are many different types found online.
However, we are going to be sticking with chúng tôi today as it’s one of the most popular options.
Head over to the chúng tôi bot store and look for some of the top voting and top trending bots to use for Discord.
You can also check out the search function if you already know which bots you want to install.
2
Adding Bots To A Server
Doing this action should automatically take you to Discord.
If you haven’t already logged in, you can log in now. After this, select which server you would like the bot to get added to.
If you cannot locate the server, this likely means you need permission from another person in that server, likely someone who has a higher role.
You’ll know you’ll have successfully added the bot because it will redirect you to the website of the bot. However, this isn’t the final action, as you need to assign a bot to a role within your server.
Head back to the dashboard and select the server name at the top. Tap “Settings” and then “Roles.” Tap the Plus button to create roles for your bots.
From here select the “Members” options where you can assign a bot to a particular role.

How To Optimize Discord Server For Speed
Ever heard of Skype? If Skype lets you talk and chat with others, Discord lets you do the same thing while playing online games at the same time. It runs on multiple platforms including PC, smartphones, even web browsers (without installation).
Discord has been the number one choice of gamers for some time until now. It offers low-latency voice chats and flexibility to manage followers easily. In many cases, streamers prefer Discord over the basic chat window of popular live-streaming platforms like Twitch.
However, there’s no such thing as a perfect app. Just like any online app, sometimes, you may experience connection issues when trying to connect to the Discord voice server. It can be caused by an ISP issue, device issue, or the Discord itself.
Your ISP may be the problemThere’s also the issue of inefficient ISP routing. Your ISP will not always pick the most efficient route available. They may put you in the lower priority route depending on your activity. Longer route means longer travel.
The right VPN can help you increase connection speedTo make sure this doesn’t happen to you, you need a VPN that increase your internet speed. By having the right VPN, not only you can protect your sensitive information from hackers, but you also literally hide your traffic so that ISP can’t see your action. If they can’t see you, they can’t throttle your connection speed, which means, you’ll experience increased internet speeds.
The right VPN can also break the inefficiency by hiding where your traffic’s ‘from and to’ so ISP won’t send you to a ‘bad’ route, resulting in sped up connection.
Be careful though, most VPNs can potentially decrease your internet speed instead, if none of the cases above apply to you. Opting for a free VPN isn’t a good choice either since overcrowding and the lack of funds to optimize their servers can drag your speed connection down.
You don’t need to worry though. Some decent VPN providers offer a money-back guarantee procedure so that you can try their service firsthand before fully pay. So, which VPN to choose? Here’s a list of some VPNs worth trying.
1. ExpressVPNJust like its name, Express VPN will give you a very decent and stable speed that is absolutely needed if you want to share messages between your teammate in a massive and chaotic multiplayer session. With over 160 server locations all over the world, delay or lag will be the least of your worry.
ExpressVPN also allocates unlimited bandwidth for its users that can contain up to five devices simultaneously. Not only ExpressVPN protects you from possible data leaks, but it also speeds up your stream or download activity.
2. NordVPNMany people consider NordVPN as the best VPN on the market for its all-round package. Not only does it prevent ISP throttling and inefficient routing, NordVPN further uses a bunch of safety protocols to keep you hidden and secure from any hackers and cheaters.
You will be connected to one of their 5700 servers, ensuring bypass of geo-blocking on Discord.
3. SpeedifyIf you don’t want to spend your cash just yet, Speedify is a great alternative. Speedify is a mobile VPN that will secure your online data and deliver a reliable and fast internet by combining multiple connections. Speedify works best at preventing ISP throttling—you’ll be able to use all your available bandwidth without your ISP narrowing it down.
Just like any VPN, it secures your data connection and hides IP addresses.
How To Make A Call On Discord
In fact, much of Discord’s appeal lies in how good its calling is. Its birth came about precisely because its founders wanted a better VoIP platform for gamers to use during group play sessions.
But even if you’re not raiding with friends, you can still use Discord to make voice and video calls. (It can be a good workaround for poor cell phone reception, for example.) Hopping in one is quite simple, too, though you will have to do a little setup first.
Step 1: Make some friendsIn the desktop app (or web interface), this screen is one place you can send friend requests from.
PCWorld
To make a call in Discord, you have to be friends with the person (or people) you want to speak with. You can send a friend request in one of two ways on PC or mobile:
PC Mobile
At the bottom of the app, tap on the icon of a person waving. Then tap on the icon of a person with a plus sign in the upper right of the screen. You can then add people through one of three methods: entering their Discord tag (e.g., ExampleTag#0000), using Nearby Scan, or the Find Your Friends feature. For the latter two, your friends will also have to participate for them to work.
On a Discord server you share with the person, tap on their user avatar, then on Add Friend.
Step 2: Start a callOn PC, you can start a voice or video call by using one of these icons.
PCWorld
Starting a call is pretty simple, especially since there’s no real differentiation between voice and video calls. One method simply starts the call with audio only and the other one with everyone’s video on.
PC MobileAt the bottom of your screen, swipe right on your screen, then tap the icon of a person waving. Your friends list will appear. Tap the phone icon next to your friend’s name to start an audio call. (You can enable video once the call starts.)
For group calls, you have to create a group chat first. To do so, swipe right on your screen, then tap on the icon of a person waving. At the top of the screen, tap the icon of a chat icon with a plus sign. You can also start a group chat from your Direct Messages screen or in your direct messages with a person you want in your group. Once the group chat is open, tap the phone or video camera icon at the top.
Things you should know about Discord callsYou can share your screen and stream games to Discord calls.
PCWorld
Discord calls are very good—the PCWorld staff uses them regularly during our off-hours. But you should always go into a service knowing the important details, so we’ve compiled several things to get you fully up to speed.
Discord does not offer end-to-end encryption for voice and video calls. For that level of security, you’ll need to stick with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Signal, or the like.
Discord calls have no time restrictions, so you can be on them for as long as you like. However, you can’t sit in a call by yourself indefinitely until other people join; the system will boot you after a short period.
You can share your screen or stream a game to call participants at 720p/30fps by default. For higher resolutions and 60fps, you’ll need to a Discord Nitro subscription.
Like other popular VoIP calling apps, video backgrounds are available for calls, but standard Discord users only get eight presets and a blur option. For custom backgrounds, you need to subscribe to Nitro.
If your friends can’t hear you speaking, verify that your input and output devices are set correctly. Discord can change these randomly. Also make sure that you don’t have push-to-talk on—or if you purposely do, that your keybind is correct.
How To Change Your Dns Server On Android
How to Change Your DNS Server on Android Benefits of Using Third-Party DNS
Although most users use their ISP’s default DNS servers, third-party solutions produce superior results. They are as follows:
You can enjoy faster speed with third-party DNS servers.
Protect yourself from ISP tracking and data sharing without your knowledge.
No-log DNS helps maintain online privacy.
Bypass geographical locks
Last, DNS providers like OpenDNS can protect against cyber attacks and malicious sites.
Apply parental controls and site filtering.
Popular DNS ServicesGoogle Public DNS is the most popular DNS service. It supports DNS over TLS (DoT) and DNS over HTTPS (DoH), so requests are delivered over a secure channel. However, if you don’t trust Google CloudFlare 1.1.1.1 is another popular choice. According to most independent testing, it is the quickest DNS service accessible.
How to Change DNS on Android?Note: The exact menu options might vary from one manufacturer to another before you plan to use if the selected DNS service provider supports DNS-over-TLS before setting.
Furthermore, when you use a VPN, which overrides private DNS settings, these changes have no impact.
Navigate to your device’s Wi-Fi settings. You may do this by navigating to Settings and selecting Wi-Fi or pulling down the notification shade & long-pressing the Wi-Fi symbol.
Now, navigate to your Wi-Fi network’s network settings. Depending on your phone’s brand and Android version, you need to long-press the Wi-Fi network’s name and then hit Modify Network, or there may be an arrow on the side.
Scroll to the bottom of the network information page and touch on IP Settings. If you don’t see that menu, check for an Advanced option and IP Settings.
Change this to a static value.
Change DNS1 and DNS2 to the desired values- for example, Google DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.AC.
On Android 8 Or Earlier, Follow These Steps:Android Oreo and earlier versions do not permit modifying DNS servers for cellular networks. This means you can apply the following DNS settings only on Wi-Fi connections. Even so, the modifications are network-specific, and you’ll need to update the DNS servers whenever you join a new wireless network.
Furthermore, you’ll have to set up all network information manually; thus, these changes are only suggested for sophisticated users.
To modify a Wi-Fi network, follow these steps:
Look for the Wi-Fi network you are connected to.
Tap the Gear icon to get a list of options.
Hit View More
Tap IP Settings.
This will read ‘DHCP,’ Tap on it and change it to “Static.”
Tap on it and change it to ‘Static.’
Now, manually enter your network settings, including your DNS server. An example would be 1.1.1.1 & 1.0.0.1.
Wrap Up – Change Your DNS Server on Any Android Device.
So there you have it. Following the steps mentioned above, you can modify the DNS setting on any Android device. The steps might vary a bit due to the brand or Android version. They will work for all. We hope you will be able to change the DNS, IPv4, and IPv6.

How To Set Up Plex Media Server On Windows
With the proliferation of set-top boxes like Google TV, Roku and others, as well as the popularity of Android devices, there is a growing need to share media content across a home network. It’s not the most complicated operation in the world, but it does require some setup work at the onset.
There are several solutions for setting up a media server right in your home, but perhaps the simplest solution is to use Plex. The service provides both backend (the server) and the front end, which is in the form of apps for computers, mobile devices and set-top boxes. This tutorial shows you how to setup Plex media server on Windows.
To get started, you’re going need to setup the server on a computer within your network, preferably one that is always on, as the apps won’t get media unless the server is on and connected. Head over to PlexApp and download the program. It will work with Windows, Mac, Linux, FreeBSD and NAS.
Once you have completed the installation, it’s time to begin playing with the settings and letting the server know where to find your various media.
The important part here is the Library Update Interval. If you wish to watch your new show as soon as possible, then set this to 15 minutes, which is the fastest available option.
Options also allow you to sign into your MyPlex account, enable DLNA, set network discovery, give your server a name, and much more. For most people, the default options, other than library refresh interval, should function just fine.
The End UserWith your server up and running and everything set the way you want, it’s time to take care of the end-user. Plex apps are available for both Android and iOS, though, unlike the server, they aren’t free. Apps are also available for many of today’s set-top boxes, such as Roku and Google TV. If you are using the latter, then I recommend a third-party app called Serenity, which is available in the Google Play store.
ConclusionWhen it comes to servers, there are few things simpler to setup and manage than Plex. The developers have made this as easy as possible and the dashboard has an excellent graphical user interface. The service is also always updating and improving its offerings, so you can expect good things coming in the future.

How To Add Steam Chat To Pidgin Or Empathy On Linux
Have you ever wanted to chat with your friends in Steam outside of the client on Linux? If so, we’ve got the perfect thing for you: Open Steamworks. It’s a simple bit of code that takes the Steam mobile chat API and wraps it up into a Pidgin plugin for you to use on your Linux desktop.
Arch Linux AUR PackageIf you are an Arch Linux user interested in using Open Steamworks on your machine, someone has taken it upon themselves to make this awesome plugin available in the Arch Linux User Repository.
If you want to use it, all you have to do is point your favorite Arch User Repository client at this package to install it. Do you not have an AUR client? You might want to check out some of these.
Installing the Plugin ManuallyWhen you have everything downloaded and extracted, it’s time to install the plugin to the Pidgin plugin directory. Open up a terminal window and enter the commands below.
mkdir
~/
.purple/
pluginsFor 64 bit system:
mv
/
path/
to/
extracted/
file/
libsteam64-1.3
.so ~/
.purple/
pluginfor 32 bit system:
mv
/
path/
to/
extracted/
file/
libsteam-1.4
.so ~/
.purple/
pluginDoing this will install the Steam chat plugin into Pidgin’s user plugin directory. This means that the Open Steamworks plugin will only be accessible by your username on the system. After doing this, we’ll need to install the icon package.
mv
/
path/
to/
extracted/
folder/
icons/
usr/
share/
pixmaps/
pidgin/
protocols/
Once the plugin and icon package has been installed, restart Pidgin. It needs to reload the plugins directory. When it’s opened again, you’ll be able to log in to your Steam account in Pidgin.
Note: once you’ve entered your login details, you’ll need to check your email and input your Steam guard code (if you use it).
Running the Plugin in EmpathyDo you want to use Steam chat on Linux but are not a fan of Pidgin? Don’t worry! You can easily get all of your favorite Pidgin chat plugins working in Empathy by installing one simple package. Using your Linux distributions’ package manager of choice, search for the package known as “telepathy-haze”. After that, just install it and restart Empathy. Everything should be there after that.
From there you’ll be able to go to the accounts section of Empathy and then add your Steam account to it. Please note: if you use Steam guard, you’ll need to go to your account settings in the Empathy client and apply the security code that was emailed to you.
ConclusionSteam is a great service, but it’s kind of a pain to have it open all the time, especially since Steam can sometimes be CPU intensive. That’s why I think this plugin, which allows you to chat with your Steam friends in Pidgin, is awesome. It takes one of the best parts of Valve’s service and allows you to use it in your favorite instant messaging client.
