Suggested March 2024 How To Become An Influencer On Instagram

Being an Instagram influencer seems like one of the best jobs that you could have nowadays. You’d be making money while doing something you already spend hours on daily — posting and scrolling on Instagram. However, becoming an actual influencer on Instagram isn’t as easy as it may seem.

Let’s break down what an influencer on Instagram is and what they do, as well as how you can become one.

Table of Contents

What’s an Instagram Influencer?

Contrary to popular belief, working as an Instagram influencer is different from simply sharing content on Instagram. An influencer is a social media user who influences decisions that other people — their followers — make. An Instagram influencer is someone who’s made a reputation around a certain subject or “niche” on the platform. You can also say that an influencer is considered to be an expert in their niche or at the very least knowledgeable about it.

Do You Get Paid as an Influencer on Instagram?

Instagram is considered the best influencer marketing platform by all major brands. The already established social media influencers also note that Instagram gives them the best engagement rates of all the platforms. So how much money can you make as an Instagram influencer?

The exact amount is impossible to calculate, as you are the one who sets the fees. Instagram influencers charge anything between $70 and $3000 per post. Don’t forget that you also have Instagram Stories, Reels, and IGTV — you can turn all of them into a source of income as well.

How To Become an Influencer on Instagram

So you’ve decided to become an influencer on Instagram. Now you have to think about putting together your content on Instagram so that it has an impact on your community of followers and drives their behaviors. While every influencer’s path is different and unique to their own brand, you can start by following our easy guidelines.

Choose Your Niche

Whether you already have a personal brand or not, the first thing you need to do is choose your niche on Instagram. A niche would be something you’re either passionate or knowledgeable about (or both). Is there something you’re good at? It could be anything from professional skiing to growing organic vegetables in your backyard.

Your niche could also be a mix of things too. For example, if you’re an English teacher and a father of two, you can focus your posts around your knowledge in both spheres and then pick and mix your content.

Make an Attractive Instagram Profile

The first thing new users that find you on Instagram will see is your profile’s appearance. If you already have an account on Instagram, make sure to tidy it up. Sometimes deleting your old account and creating a new one from scratch might be even easier.

The things you want to focus on here are your bio and your feed. Your bio needs to be catchy but it should also tell your story. Think of a way to use those limited symbols, as well as emojis to showcase your expertise in the niche that you chose.

*03_instagram bio*

When you start posting photos and videos, you need to take into account not only how they’ll look individually but also how they’ll appear in your feed. Choosing a particular style or a color scheme works well here.

Consistency Is Key

The next step is to set a posting schedule and stick to it. You might want to start posting every day or even multiple times a day straight away but in reality, it’s better to assess how much time and effort you’re willing to put into it first. Instagram algorithm values consistency. It’s better to set realistic goals and start slow rather than go big in the beginning and burn out quickly.

Make Use of All Instagram Tools

Bear in mind that if you want to make it on Instagram as an influencer, you can’t just post photos. If you want to earn your followers’ trust, you need to share your stories and expertise with them, and you can do that through writing captions for your posts.

On top of that, you can and should use all of the tools that Instagram offers for content makers: Instagram Stories, Reels, IGTV. All of them allow you to post different types of content on the same Instagram account, so that your followers are always engaged and come back for more.

There are a few other things that you can do to bring more diversity into the content you post on Instagram. They include hosting contests and giveaways, using polls in Stories, using relevant hashtags that are popular in your niche, including a call-to-action in captions.

Get a Professional Account to Monitor Your Analytics and Post Ads

Using Instagram analytics, you can get to know your audience better by studying your follower demographics and the days and times when people visit your profile. Ads you can use to share promoted posts with users that don’t know about your account yet. Both features are crucial for getting better engagement on Instagram.

Contact Relevant Brands and Influencers on Instagram

This might be one of the most important steps and a final stage of making it on Instagram as an influencer. Once you’ve grown a sufficient following and engagement rate on Instagram, you can start monetizing your account.

One way to do that is to find brands that are relevant to your niche and tag them in your posts to make them notice your account. It’s even better if you get featured on their Instagram accounts, as this gives you more exposure. You can also contact brands directly via DMs and offer collaboration.

Contacting other influencers in your niche is another good strategy. Aside from exposure to new users, you can also get interesting collaboration deals out of it.

Should You Focus All Your Energy on Instagram as an Influencer?

It seems like people simply spend more time on Instagram compared to other social media networks, and that’s something that you should keep in mind as a future influencer. However, you might reach a bigger audience if you use several different platforms simultaneously, for example, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

You can even go as far as to link your Instagram account to Facebook for automatic reposts. That way you won’t have to waste time on posting the same content on each network separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

How To Hide Likes On Instagram

Instagram is constantly adding new features in order to keep its app exciting and safe for users everywhere. Most recently, the photo-sharing app made it possible for people to choose whether to hide Like counts on their own posts as well as other accounts.

Instagram has implemented the feature, as concerns are on the rise over social media platforms contributing to low self-esteem and feelings of inadequacy in the younger population.

If you’re interested in “removing the pressure” yourself, this article shows you how you can hide Likes using one of three easy methods.

Note: You can also hide your Instagram account.

How to Hide Like Counts for Instagram Accounts

To keep users from constantly comparing their posts to others that receive thousands of Likes, Instagram now lets users hide Like counts for other accounts. You can only turn on the feature through the mobile Instagram app.

1. Open Instagram on your mobile device.

2. Tap on the tiny Profile picture in the lower right of the display.

3. Tap on the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner.

4. Select Settings at the bottom.

5. In the Settings menu, tap on Privacy.

6. Go to Posts.

7. Toggle on the first option that appears on the list: “Hide Like and View Counts.”

8. With this option enabled, you won’t see the total number of Likes or Views (in the case of videos) when browsing a profile.

Now you can enjoy some piece of mind and actually focus on connecting with people on the social app instead of simply thinking in terms of Likes. When you’re ready to view Like counts again, simply retrace the steps above and turn off the “Hide Like and View Counts.”

How to Hide Likes on Your Own Posts

Ready to take things one step further? Instagram also lets you hide Likes to your own posts. This can be done on a per-post basis, so you can choose to leave Likes activated for select posts. Users will still be able to view the number of Likes their posts receive, but it will be a private affair.

1. Find a post and tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner of the post.

2. Select the “Hide Like Count” option in the pop-up menu that appears at the bottom.

3. The Like count is now invisible to others. You, on the other hand, can still see the Likes.

4. Now go back to the post and tap on the “Others” button to view your Likes.

5. As you can see, they are now only visible to you.

If you’re about to make a new post and already know that you don’t want Likes showing up on your profile, you can prevent this from happening.

1. When you’re in the caption writing panel for your new post, tap on “Advanced Settings” at the bottom of the page.

2. Toggle on the “Hide Like and View Counts on this Post” to make the Likes you receive private.

Instagram started rolling out this feature as part of an extended test last month. If you’re not yet seeing these options in your Instagram, try searching for them on another account or have some patience. The feature may become available to you soon enough.

Instagram can be super fun if used the right way, but what happens when the app malfunctions and stops working? Find out how to fix it by reading our comprehensive list of solutions. Alternatively, you may want to get up to speed regarding how to use Instagram Reels with Remix.

Starting fresh on social or just trying to build your online brand? You’re probably wondering how to get more followers on Instagram.

And no, we don’t mean buying followers or using bots. Those tricks might boost your follower count for a short time, but they won’t do you any favors long-term.

That’s because the only truly valuable Instagram followers are real people who care about and engage with your brand.

Check out our in-depth guide to learn how to grow Instagram followers organically.

Bonus: Download a free checklist that reveals the exact steps a fitness influencer used to grow from 0 to 600,000+ followers on Instagram with no budget and no expensive gear.

How to get more Instagram followers for free

No time to read the whole guide? Check out the video below for what you need to grow on Instagram this year:

Otherwise, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get to work.

Step 1. Lay the groundwork

Have a thoughtful Instagram marketing strategy

If you want to be effective on social, you need a clear plan.

Getting more Instagram followers is a great starter goal. But followers alone won’t create a successful Instagram account. Your goal needs to be part of a larger plan that connects to your business strategy and social marketing objectives.

Think about the reasons why you want more Instagram followers. What do you really hope to accomplish? Maybe you want to:

increase brand awareness

boost product sales

drive traffic to your website.

Staying focused on these business-oriented goals will help keep your Instagram account consistent. It will help you tell a compelling brand story that appeals to new profile visitors and helps build (and keep) a loyal following.

Define your target audience

Ask yourself some questions about who you’re trying to reach:

Where do they live?

What do they do for work?

When and how do they use Instagram?

What are their pain points and challenges?

The answers to these questions will help you craft content to connect with the people on Instagram who are most likely to give you a follow.

They will also help you consistently deliver content that will keep your audience engaged for the long run.

Create a consistent brand story and aesthetic

Maybe you want to show off how your product is made. Or humanize your brand by sharing an employee’s perspective. An aspirational brand might showcase the lifestyle or achievements of your customers.

No matter what you’re going for, it’s important to maintain a consistent brand voice, personality and look.

Your posts should be easily recognizable at a glance. Think of your Instagram grid as one cohesive unit. You can always use Instagram Stories to share content that doesn’t quite fit with the look and feel of your main feed.

Your products don’t have to look the same, either. You can use styling to give your grid a consistent look and feel, like @themillerswifecustomcookies does:

Source: @themillerswifecustomcookies on Instagram

Use keywords to appear in searches

Before people can follow you on Instagram, they have to find you. But not all text on Instagram is searchable. Only two fields on Instagram contribute to search results: name and username.

Your username is your Instagram handle. It should be consistent with the handle you use on other social networks since this also makes it easier for people to find you. Use your brand name or a variation of your name that people are likely to use when searching for your brand.

Your name can be anything you like, up to 30 characters. You don’t want to keyword-stuff, but including your most relevant keyword in the name field can make you easier to find.

For example, travel writer Claudia Laroye (@itsclaudiatravels) includes the keyphrase “travel writer” in her Instagram name. Now, she’s more likely to be found by people looking for travel content or writers.

Source: @itsclaudiatravels on Instagram

Need ideas for your own username? Try our free Instagram name generator.

Optimize your Instagram bio and profile

Your profile includes your name and username fields (mentioned above), your website and your bio.

Your bio can be up to 150 characters, so make the most of it. Convey your brand identity and show new visitors why they should follow you. What kind of content can they expect?

This bio from @abstractaerialart sums up the account’s purpose and promise in a quick, easy-to-digest way:

Source: @abstractaerialart on Instagram

If you have a professional account (business or Creator), you can include extra info in your profile, like your contact information, type of business, and location.

Step 2. Create great content

Design a gorgeous Instagram grid

Sure, this might seem obvious, but it’s critical when thinking about getting followers on Instagram. Every post on your Instagram grid must be high-quality and visually engaging.

Give commercial photographer @nelsonmouellic a round of applause for this visual feat.

Write compelling, long captions

Instagram is a visual social media platform, but great Instagram captions help you get more reach and engagement.

Here are some key strategies to keep in mind:

Put the most important words up front. If the caption is more than 125 characters long, users must tap “more” to see the whole thing. Make the most of those first words to inspire that extra tap.

Use emoji. Emoji add a bit of variety and can make your caption more enticing. Just make sure you use those emoji correctly!

Try different caption lengths. Our data shows that long captions are more likely to improve engagement, but ultra-short captions can also be very effective when the visuals speak for themselves.

Will Tang of Going Awesome Places posts great photos with detailed captions that tell the story behind the shot. His Insta bio calls him a “creator of ridiculously detailed itineraries and guides.” That means this caption approach is very on-brand.

Post content that’s meant to be re-shared

Your audience wants to engage with content that’s useful and inspiring. So when planning your posts, think about types of content that other people might like to share.

People love sharing infographics. Feed that desire by supplying your followers with your expert insights. If someone embeds your Instagram posts in their blog, you’re exposed to a whole new audience of potential followers.

For example, here’s how a Hootsuite post about LinkedIn demographics looks when shared to my Instagram Story.

Embrace Instagram Stories

If you want more Instagram followers, you need to use Instagram Stories. Half a billion Instagram accounts use Stories every day, and 45% of the most-viewed Stories are from businesses.

People who use Stories are highly engaged. Plus, you can use the hashtag and location features in your stories to expose them to people who do not already follow you.

Make the most of Stories highlights

Put a lot of effort into an Instagram Story and not quite ready to say goodbye after 24 hours? Pinned Stories highlights are a great way to introduce your brand to people who visit your profile. So pack those highlights with great info and content to show new visitors why they should follow you.

Don’t forget to customize the cover photos on your highlights, too. Supplement company Vega keeps things on-brand and plant-friendly with their custom green highlights.

Source: Vega on Instagram

Post consistently

Your existing followers want to see content from you. That’s why they followed you in the first place. So give them what they want!

When users interact with your posts, those engagements tell Instagram’s algorithm that your content is valuable. Those interactions will then boost your reach. So giving your existing followers something great to interact with can help bring in new Instagram followers.

How often should you post? According to our analysis, between 3-7 times per week.

Post at the right time

Instagram uses an algorithm, not a chronological feed. But timing is still important to the algorithm.

Hootsuite’s social team found that the best time to post on Instagram is between 8 AM -12 PM PST or 4-5 PM PST on weekdays.

But your audience might have different habits than ours. A tool like Hootsuite Analytics can show you the best time to post for your audience based on past engagement, impressions or traffic.

Source: Hootsuite Analytics

Try Hootsuite for free. You can cancel anytime.

Start testing various times and measuring results. For example, if you’re a retail brand, you might want to test posting during lunch

Schedule your posts and stories

What if the best time to post to your account is 3 AM? (Hey, it happens.) Use a desktop-based Instagram tool like Hootsuite to schedule and publish directly to Instagram.

You can also use Hootsuite to schedule Instagram Stories and Reels.

Step 3. Make yourself findable

Use relevant hashtags to reach new users

Sadly, the text of your Instagram posts isn’t searchable. But your hashtags are. Using hashtags thoughtfully can be a good way to get followers on Instagram for free. You can even create your own branded hashtags.

Relevant hashtags can help people find your content. Instagram users can even follow hashtags. That means your hashtagged content may appear in the feeds of people who do not yet follow your account.

You can include up to 30 hashtags in an Instagram post, but don’t go overboard. Instead, do some experimenting to learn how many hashtags work best for your particular account.

Avoid hashtag gimmicks such as #likeforlike, #tagsforlikes, or #followme. These may give you a temporary boost in followers. But those people aren’t interested in what makes you and your content special. They’re not going to help you build a meaningful, engaged audience on Instagram.

Instead, focus on using highly targeted hashtags specific to your photo, product, or business, like stylist Dee Campling does in this #wfh shot.

Tag your location

If the location of your post or Story is clear, it’s worth adding a location tag. It’s another easy way for people to find your content on Instagram.

For example, here’s what you get when you search for the location of Van Wonderen Stroopwafels in Amsterdam:

Source: Instagram

If you’re posting from a conference or event, adding your location can help you connect with other attendees. This will expose your account to a highly relevant group of new potential Instagram followers.

Tag relevant users

It’s easy to tag Instagram users featured in your photos. Just use an @-mention in your caption or Instagram’s tagging functionality within the post.

Users are notified when they’re tagged, so tags encourage them to engage with and share the post. Your post will also appear on the Tagged tab of their Instagram profile.

Be careful, though. Tagging someone just to get their attention isn’t a great idea. Instead, only tag users featured in your photo or relevant to your post’s content.

Some potentially relevant users to tag might include:

Other relevant businesses

Colleagues or employees

Someone who taught you a skill or told you about something you share in the post

Anyone who appears in the photo

Encourage others to tag you

Your bio is a great place to ask people to tag you on Instagram.

For example, Visit the USA asks Instagrammers to tag them for a chance to be featured on their account.

Source: @visittheusa on Instagram

Cross-promote your Instagram account on other networks

If you want to get followers on Instagram for free, you need to make it easy for people to find you.

Your Instagram profile should be easily discoverable. If you’ve already built a following on another social network, let those fans know about your Instagram account.

Share a link to your Instagram profile and give your existing social followers a reason to check it out. (Like an Instagram-exclusive coupon code, event, or contest.)

When BlogHer hosted Jameela Jamil for an Instagram Live, they made sure to promote it on their Facebook Page as well.

If you’re just starting your Instagram account, make sure to post some content before you promote the account elsewhere. Aim for a minimum of 12 posts.

Embed Instagram posts in your blog

Embedding your own Instagram posts in your blog is an easy way to share your content and drive traffic to your profile. Every new visitor to your Instagram profile is a potential new follower.

For example, say Hootsuite wanted to announce our mascot’s makeover. Sure, we could share a few pictures of Owly’s new look.

But we could also embed an Instagram post, like this:

Any time you’re sharing visual content like photos, charts, or infographics in your blog, there’s an opportunity to embed an Instagram post with that content instead.

Share your Instagram account in other communications

Think beyond your social channels when sharing your Instagram account.

You can link to your Instagram account on your website, in your email signature, and in your online newsletters. The link doesn’t have to be big, either. You can use a small Instagram icon.

If you’re promoting a new Instagram account, a quick email blast is a great way to get free Instagram followers fast.

And don’t forget about your offline materials. You can include your Instagram handle on coasters, posters, packing slips, business cards, or packaging. It’s a simple way to drive more free Instagram followers to your account.

Use Instagram QR codes

Your Instagram QR code is a scannable code that allows other Instagram users to follow you instantly. It’s another easy way to promote your account on physical materials like packing slips, signage, and product packaging.

Your QR code is also a great way to get new followers in real time at networking events and conferences. People you connect with in person can scan your code to follow you without having to type out your handle. Try printing it out and tucking it into your namebadge holder for easy access.

Find your Instagram QR code by tapping on the three lines icon at the top right of your Instagram profile and selecting QR Code .

Try to get featured

Feature accounts are Instagram accounts that curate and re-share content based on a hashtag or tagging. Some of these accounts have a huge following. If they share one of your posts (along with your handle), they can send a new stream of Instagram followers your way.

There’s a feature account for just about every niche and interest on Instagram, so start exploring.

For example, @damngoodstitch features embroidery posts. The account has more than 180,000 followers.

Aim for the Explore page

Half of Instagram accounts visit Explore every month. That’s a huge opportunity for brands looking to grow their audience.

Ending up on the Explore tab isn’t easy. Luckily, we’ve got an entire article dedicated to helping you get there.

You can also pay to get into the Explore feed by selecting Explore as an ad placement.

Step 4. Engage with your community

Follow relevant accounts

You should only tag people in an Instagram post when the content is directly relevant to them. But you can follow anyone you like. And when you follow a user on Instagram, there’s a good chance they will check out your feed and consider following you back.

Social listening is great for finding conversations and influential users (a.k.a. influencers) to follow.

Instagram’s “Suggestions For You” section is also a handy resource for finding relevant accounts to follow. These suggestions show up in your Instagram feed between posts, in between Stories, or on the right side of the screen on a computer.

Just remember not to follow too many other accounts too fast. Your follower ratio, or the number of people who follow you compared to how many you follow, is important for credibility.

And don’t follow people just to get their attention, only to unfollow after they follow you back. This is kind of a jerk move and will hurt your Instagram reputation.

Engage with existing communities

Like all social media networks, Instagram is about the communities built within it. So make sure you’re participating in those spaces.

Engaging with other posts helps draw attention (and potential new followers) in two ways:

Work with influencers in your niche

Here’s an important stat for anyone thinking about how to get more followers on Instagram: 60% of consumers say they’d follow a brand on Instagram after seeing it promoted by an influencer they trust.

If you’re not working with influencers now, then you should definitely consider it. Luckily, we’ve got a whole guide on Influencer marketing to help you out.

Collaborate with other brands

Don’t be afraid to reach out to other brands to see if there’s a way that you can work together on Instagram. The right kind of collaboration could help everyone involved get more Instagram followers.

Think about businesses you already collaborate with in other ways. Maybe you’re connected in a local business improvement association or shopping area. How could you work together on Instagram?

Try an Instagram Live collaboration

To get your Live video in front of a new audience, use the “Go live with a friend” option to co-host a live video with someone else in your industry. Ask the other person to host a Live video, then invite you as a guest. The two of you will appear in a split screen, introducing you to all of their followers.

For example, Design Emergency hosts a weekly Instagram Live to interview key figures in the design world.

Likewise, Wine Spectator‘s Straight Talk series features interviews with industry insiders.

Use interactivity features in Stories

Instagram Stories offer plenty of interactive features to engage users, like poll, question, and chat stickers. These stickers are a simple, low-stakes way for your audience to engage with your content.

Polling stickers increased three-second video views in 90% of Instagram’s beta campaigns for this feature.

If users come across your Story from a hashtag or location page, they can engage right away. It’s a great way to make them want to learn more about your brand by giving you a follow.

There are a couple of ways you can use this feature as part of your plan to get more followers on Instagram.

This feature can help you manage the conversation on your posts and create more opportunities for engagement.

Step 5. Keep learning

Create an AR filter

AR filters for Instagram Stories are photo effects Instagrammers can use to modify photos taken through their mobile phone’s front and back cameras.

Those posts with puppy ears? Those are done with an AR (Augmented Reality) filter. Those “which [vegetable/pizza/emoji/etc.] are you?” posts? Yup, those use AR filters too.

Any Instagram user can now create an AR filter. The filters you create live in their own section of your Instagram profile.

If your filter is not promotional or branded, it will also appear in the Instagram Stories effects gallery, where any Instagrammer can find it.

Run contests

Tagged friends will also see your post and may choose to follow your account as well.

Encouraging user-generated content as part of your contest can also help you reach more people. People will learn about your profile from posts their friends create. This is an effective way to build trust with new followers and get more eyeballs to your page.

Target your audience by location, demographics, and even key behaviors and interests. You can also create a lookalike audience based on the people who already interact with your business.

Learn from Instagram Insights

Instagram analytics tools will give you data on impressions for each post, along with reach, engagement, top posts, and more. You can also find demographic information about your followers, including gender, age, and location.

Keep an eye on what time of day your followers use Instagram, so you can post when people are most likely to see and engage with your content. Data nerds who want to go deeper may want to consider a social media management tool like Hootsuite. These tools can show you the best times to post based on impressions, engagement, and traffic. They’ll also give you a bunch of other helpful performance metrics, like your follower growth rate.

Get more Instagram followers using Hootsuite. Schedule content for the most optimal times, streamline engagement, track your performance, and more—all from a single, easy-to-use dashboard. Try it for free.

How To View Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, And More Without An Account

Decided to take a break from social media by deleting your account but still want to view the occasional post? You might have noticed a problem. Popular apps like Instagram, Facebook, and Reddit now prevent non-account holders from freely accessing content on their networks. Luckily, there are a few workarounds that can help you bypass the restriction. In this turorial, we show you how to view posts and more without signing up.

Can You View Instagram Without Logging In?

While it used to be possible to view Instagram posts and profiles without an account, now things aren’t so straightforward. You do get limited access, although your experience quickly gets tainted by the repeated prompts to sign up with your username and password.

When trying to view an Instagram profile in a browser, either on desktop or mobile, you’ll be able to view a few posts, but if you scroll too far, you’ll be restricted. This happens if you’re using Firefox or Safari. In Chrome, you’ll be asked to log in from the get-go without even so much as a sneak peek of the profile you’re trying to view. The good news is that you can open posts; if you’re on PC you’ll need to open them in a new tab.

How to View Instagram Profiles and Stories Without an Account

Fortunately, there’s an easy way to get around this restriction and view Instagram profiles and stories. You’ll have to use an online service such as IGAnony, but there are many other options. You can access it in your browser. One thing to keep in mind is that this works only for public accounts.

Go to IGAnony and input the username of the account you want to view. (If you don’t know the exact account username, try performing a Google search like this: “name/nickname Instagram.”)

The profile you’re looking for should show up below.

Use the tabs at the top to select the type of content you want to view: Stories, Posts, or Highlights.

Tip: make your Instagram content stand out with camera filters and effects.

Search for Hashtags and Interests

You can’t access the Instagram’s search function without an account. Luckily, Google can help you do some basic searches. For instance, you can look for posts tagged with a certain hashtag – simply type into search something like “#technology hashtag instagram.” When I tried this I got the following results.

Furthermore, It’s possible to use a web tool such as Toolzu to search for profiles under a certain category. For instance, you can look for accounts associated with “Aquarium.”

How to View Twitter Content Without an Account

As with Instagram, to have access to content on Twitter without an account, you’ll have to use a browser – either on your PC or mobile. If you have the Twitter app on your phone, tapping on a Twitter link will automatically open the app, which will prompt you to log in.

For those who do have an account, here’s how to search Twitter like a pro.

Read Tweets From a Particular User

If you’re looking to read a post from a particular user, follow the steps below to find the user – even without an account.

Alternatively, you can search for the account directly in Google using “name/keyword twitter” to see the account (if they have one), as well as thumbnails, which shows their latest posts.

Note: you can’t see posts from private accounts, just like on Instagram.

Keep Up With What’s Trending

Now, maybe you were using Twitter to keep up with the latest trends. You can still do so by going to the #Explore tab and checking out the “Trends for you” section.

However, if you want to go beyond what Twitter is offering, third-party services like Trends24 offer a comprehensive view of what’s trending on Twitter. The website shows you the hottest hashtags over the last 24 hours, and you can even filter by country. The charts are upgraded every hour, so you can be sure you won’t miss anything.

Tip: had enough of Twitter? Here’s how you can delete your Twitter account.

Search Twitter

Searching Twitter without having an account is possible through the #Explore tab. Use the search bar at the top to look for usernames, topics, or any other keywords.

Once you press Enter, the search will show the top tab. You can switch to other tabs, including “Latest,” “People,” “Photos,” “and Videos” if you want to view more targeted search results.

What’s interesting is that Twitter’s Advanced search option doesn’t require an account to work. You can access it by tapping the three dots next to the search bar. Next, you can start searching using a string of words, an exact phrase, hashtags, filter by languageor time, and use many other options.

How to View Facebook Content Without an Account

Once upon a time, Facebook used to allow you to browse and search its network without many restrictions. Those days are gone now, so without an account, your experience is destined to be quite limited. Even so, there are still a few things you can do even without signing in.

View Facebook Posts

Before we proceed, keep in mind that many Facebook profiles are restricted (via Privacy settings, such as hiding their friends list) and therefore display only limited content. You won’t be able to view anything these people choose to share only with their friends on the network.

On mobile, account holders can share images with outside users via the “Share external” option. It can be accessed by opening the image in question and pressing on the three dots in the upper-right corner.

For posts with text and links, press on the three dots to the right of the postcard and select “Copy link.”

It’s possible to view Facebook content without an account on your desktop or mobile device using a browser. On mobile, you’ll get more intrusive requests to sign in with your account that can severely hamper your experience, so it may be better to use a PC instead.

Need more privacy on Facebook? Create a restricted list and share your posts and other content without worry.

Search for Accounts

Without logging in, you won’t have access to Facebook’s search, which lets you search for people. The good news is that you can still find who you’re looking for, but the results are a bit of a mixed bag – especially if the person you need to find has a pretty common name. If you’re looking for a celebrity or an institution, then it should be easy.

The first method is to use Google and perform a search among these lines “name facebook.” Once you press Enter, the search engine will list the accounts that match your query.

Social search engines like Social Searcher are also an option, although they tend to yield mixed results. On top of that, some of them require you to pay to gain full access to the data they can generate.

How to View Reddit Content Without an Account

Accessing Reddit without an account can be done, although if you want the better experience, we recommend you do so on your PC or use the mobile app. On your phone, you can also browse from the mobile browser, but you’ll be bombarded constantly by suggestions to use the app instead – unless you use a neat trick which we discuss below.

In your mobile browser, the experience is a bit annoying. You’ll constantly get asked if you want to view content using the Reddit app. The good news is that the Reddit app lets you view and browse content without issue. Just get it on your phone.

On the other hand, if, for whatever reason, you don’t want to download the app, you can use this trick to make browsing Reddit in your mobile browser bearable.

Tap on a Reddit link and open it in your mobile browser.

Replace the “www” of that link with “old.”

Now you can enjoy browsing Reddit for mobile without the constant interruptions.

Reddit currently maintains two versions of the website: the old one and the newer one, which actively invites mobile users to move to the app. The old one does not enforce any app-use restrictions, so if you don’t mind the outdated interface, this is the better way to browse Reddit in your mobile browser.

Search Reddit Without an Account

It’s possible to search Reddit like you normally would – even with an account. Just use the search bar at the top when browsing on your desktop by using keywords. On mobile, you’ll have to tap on the hamburger menu on the right to reveal the search bar.

How to View TikTok Content Without an Account

Surprisingly, TikTok is one of the friendlier social media apps that lets non-users easily browse. It’s possible to do so on desktop or mobile using your browser of choice.

View Clips and Search

The easiest way to access TikTok is via a link. Tap on it and let your default browser open it. Whether you’re on mobile or PC, it should work just fine, and you should be able to see the video. If, on the other hand, you’re targeting a particular user and wish to be able to browse their content, follow the path below.

Go to TikTok’s official page on desktop or mobile.

Search for the username using the bar at the top.

If you don’t want to see any particular TikToks and are just curious to see what the platform is all about, you can just browse. TikTok will automatically show you what’s trending in your region.

How to View LinkedIn Content Without an Account

If you’ve received a LinkedIn profile link, you can view it in the browser on your PC or mobile device even without an account. Most information, such as the introduction, work experience, and education, will be available. LinkedIn has various privacy options available, so you can’t see their profile picture or additional information if it has been hidden.

Note: you can only access a limited number of profiles per day before LinkedIn will revoke your access, asking you to create an account.

Searching for People

You can’t use LinkedIn’s search function and easily identify people on the network without an account. You can try using Google, but this method has yielded mixed results in testing. I personally couldn’t identify my LinkedIn account, although the results included some links that might have eventually lead to my page. On the other hand, I managed to find some acquaintances quite easily by searching for “name LinkedIn.”

An alternative would be to use the Social Searcher website, which searches for LinkedIn connections and not just Facebook contacts. It proved useful in testing.

Frequently Asked Questions Can I view the Facebook Marketplace without logging in to Facebook?

No. The Facebook Marketplace is an integrated part of Facebook, so you won’t be able to access it without an account. You may want to enlist the help of a friend who has a Facebook account. The only other option is a marketplace alternative such as Craigslist.

Can I deactivate my social media account as opposed to deleting it altogether?

In most cases, yes. All the apps we included on our list allow you to deactivate your account. If you’re not sure you want to leave social media for good, you can put your account on hold and return when you’re ready.
