When you choose a photo or picture for a playlist cover, Spotify has access to that image. So, be sure that you have the right to use the photo, that it does not contain inappropriate images such as nudity, and also does not show private information.

Currently, you can only change the cover for a playlist that you create yourself or the one you see when connected to Shazam. If a pal shares a playlist with you or you find one on the Home tab, you cannot change the cover.

Keep in mind that playlist covers are square and must be below 10MB in size. With this in mind, try to select or crop an image to equal dimensions like 300 by 300 or 400 by 400 pixels. Plus, if you save the image as JPG, it’ll likely have a smaller file size.

As of this writing, you do not need a Spotify Premium account to change a playlist cover image.

Change a Playlist Cover in the Web Player

If you enjoy listening to tunes with the Spotify web player, changing a playlist cover there is easy.

How to change the cover photo of your Instagram Reels before posting it

You can change the cover picture of your Instagram Reels when you’re about to post it. To get to the part where you change the Reels cover, you first need to record a Reels video by opening the Stories camera, tap on the right arrow to confirm the recording, and then tap on the arrow icon on the bottom right corner.

You will now be taken to the ‘Share’ screen of Reels which lets you finalize bits and parts of your Reels video. To change the cover picture of your Reels video, tap on the box labeled ‘Cover’ on the left-hand side of the caption section.

In the next step, you can either set your cover pictures from a frame present inside the video or choose an image from your gallery.

Choosing a frame from your Reels video

When you tap on the cover box inside the Share screen, you will be taken to the ‘Cover’ screen. If you wish to choose a frame to be set as your cover picture, slide over the frame bar at the bottom, to view from a selection of frames that are available inside the video you’re about to post as reels.

Once you’ve made up your mind about which frame to set, tap on the frame, and check the preview image at the top to re-check your selection. When that’s sorted, tap on the ‘Done’ button on the top right corner and then hit the ‘Share’ button to upload your Reels video. Your video will be visible with the cover picture you choose inside your profile’s Reels tab.

In this screen, you won’t directly notice the option to add an image from the gallery at first glance. You will have to scroll down to see it and then tap on the ‘Add from Gallery’ button at the bottom. Select a picture from your library and then tap on ‘Done’.

You can now upload your Reels with the selected picture by tapping on the ‘Share’ button at the bottom and you will now be able to see your Reels video with the cover picture that you uploaded from inside the Reels tab on your account.

How to change the cover photo of your Instagram Reels after posting it

You will only be able to add location, caption, or tag people when editing a Reels video that’s uploaded on your profile grid. To do that, tap on the video from your main profile tab (not the Reels tab), hit the 3-dots icon at the top right corner, and select the ‘Edit’ option. This option isn’t, however, available to the Reels video.

You can then re-upload your Reels video by following the process mentioned above.

Now here is the part of getting self-creative and self-organized. Spotify allows users to make their playlists and organize the music library cluttered with more than a hundred songs on your Spotify account. You can then create folders to make up a more organized music library.

To Create a Playlist:

You can also create a playlist from the left-side pane of the Spotify account on the web. There you’ll find an option to Create Playlist. You can then add songs to that created playlist according to whatever name you’ve given to it. I, for one, prefer creating playlists via Artists’ name to keep all songs organized per my favorite artists.

To Create Folders:

Folders are sub-playlists that you can create to organize your playlists further. For example, you have created a playlist by your artist’s name. Now, you can further create folders to divide the songs inside it in different folders sorted by the album names, new/old songs, remixes, and artist collaborations.

This way, you can create a more organized music library with playlists and folders keeping all tracks in different ones to help you retrieve them quickly and even share them properly and even get your followers by making your well-organized playlists collaborative.

It’s just forming a rotation playlist where you can temporarily add favorite songs as you discover new music on Spotify. You can then add these newly added songs to their specified playlist per the genre, album, or artist.

Spotify has one of the biggest online music libraries accessible for free. And it can be pretty messy when you organize it. Using these methods, you can always keep your favorite songs and even the newly discovered gems in such a way that they are easily retrievable and you don’t have to rely on long shuffles before you get there.

To get started with lock screen customization, you need to be at your lock screen! Ensure that you’ve unlocked the phone using FaceID, TouchID, or a passcode. Long press the lock screen, and your view will zoom out.

There are two buttons of interest: Customize and the blue “plus” button.

Since we’re starting out on our customization journey, select the “plus” button, and this will take you to the Add New Wallpaper screen.

On the Add New Wallpaper Screen you have a wealth of choices. At the top of the screen, you’ll see shortcuts labeled “Photos”, “Photo Shuffle”, “Emoji”, “Weather”, “Astronomy”, and “Color”.

Those same categories are (more or less) replicated as you scroll up or down the screen, except for the “Featured” section.

Under each section heading, you’ll see several suggestions, and you can swipe left or right to see more options. Each wallpaper type has its special customization features.

The Photos shortcut lets you choose any photo from your photo library, or you can choose to browse your albums. You can also choose from several automatically suggested photos from generated categories, such as “Pets” or “Nature.”

Photo Shuffle is the same thing, but here the photos are automatically rotated at intervals you specify. You can specify whether you want to use the automatically-selected featured photos, or you can make a manual selection.

The Emoji option lets you choose a selection of emojis to use as a wallpaper. Which is certainly a choice some people will make, but you do you!

The Weather wallpaper is a useful feature where you can see what the weather outside is like at a glance. Perfect for those of us stuck in an office with no windows.

The Astronomy wallpaper lets you see a 3D model of the Earth or Moon, with a more detailed version of each if you swipe left. There’s also a solar system model showing the planets’ relative position, and on the detailed Earth view, you can even see your current location!

If having a picture or photo isn’t Zen enough for you, the final option is to simply have a color as your wallpaper. You can choose from a quick selection and then adjust the shade with a slider.

If you select the multi-colored dot at the top left of the background color options, you’ll get precision tools to get exactly the shade and color you want. You can even use an eye dropper or specify a color hex code.

Once you’ve chosen your selected wallpaper style, select Add and decide whether you want to use a wallpaper pair or customize the Home Screen wallpaper.

If you set a wallpaper pair, your Home Screen background will vary from the lock screen wallpaper, depending on the type of wallpaper you choose. For example, with photos, it’s an (optionally) blurred version of your lock screen wallpaper. And with the Astronomy option, it offers a different view of the Earth or Moon.

The alternative is to customize the Home Screen, which we’ll walk through next.

If you opt to customize the Home screen when choosing your Lock Screen, you’ll see several options that let you choose between the original paired wallpaper, a specific color, a gradient, or a photo of your choice. You can also choose to keep or disable the blur effect.

Once you’ve customized the Home screen to your preference, select Done, and it will be saved as a lock screen and Home screen set. When you switch between lock screens, the linked Home screens will also change.

One of the best parts of the new lock screen feature in iOS 16 is switching between multiple options. This means you can have a lock screen and Home screen pair for work, weekends, evenings, going out on a hike, or any other occasion. When you create a new lock screen wallpaper, it will add to any existing wallpapers rather than replacing them. You can add lock screens repeatedly.

If you press and hold your lock screen, you can swipe left or right to switch between existing lock screens. This works just like switching between watch faces on an Apple Watch. If you want to delete a lock screen, swipe up to reveal the red trash can button, then press it to delete the lock screen.

If you have a lock screen you like and don’t want to start from scratch, you can customize an existing one instead.

Tap Customize, and you’ll be taken back to the same screen you see after selecting a new wallpaper.

If you tap on the clock, you’ll see Font & Color options so you can make the clock look the way you want it to.

Take note of the small globe icon at the top left of the Font & Color window. Here you can choose between Arabic, Arabic Indic, and Devanagari numerals.

On the customization screen, you can also add or change your lock screen widgets. Widgets are applets that live on your lock screen or Home screen. These tiny apps persist on those screens and let you build a dashboard of information you’d like to keep an eye on. Widgets have been on iOS and Mac devices for a while now and Android has had them forever, but iOS 16 revamps how they work for the lock screen in significant ways.

There are two widget areas on the lock screen; above and below the clock. Let’s start by tapping on the space above the clock, which displays the date by default.

Under Choose a Widget, select an alternative widget for that spot on the lock screen. If you’re an Apple Fitness user or have an Apple Watch, you may want to put that widget up to ensure you’re still on track for the day.

Once you’ve selected the widget you want, tap on the X at the top right of the Choose a Widget window to close it.

Now, select the space below the clock. If you haven’t yet put widgets there, it should say “Add Widgets”.

On the Add Widgets window that appears, choose the widgets you’d like to fit into that space. Unlike the upper widget, you can put a combination of widgets in this block. The space can accommodate four small widgets, two large widgets, or two small and one large widget.

You can remove a widget by using the small “minus” button on each widget and rearrange them by dragging the widgets left or right with your finger. You can’t place widgets on the lower part of the lock screen, since that’s reserved for notifications, which now come up from the bottom of the screen.

Once satisfied with the widgets you’ve selected, use the Done button to lock in your choices, or choose Cancel to undo your changes. Just like with adding a new wallpaper, you’ll have to choose between setting a wallpaper pair or customizing your Home screen next.

iOS 16 has an amazing feature where you can press and hold on the subject in a photo and extract it automatically using the magic of Artificial Intelligence.

Some of that technology has also been integrated into the new lock screen features. If you choose a photo as a wallpaper, iOS 16 will analyze it and try to identify a subject in the image. If it does this successfully, you’ll see that subject in front of the clock.

This process is completely automatic, and in our testing there was no way to control if a given image would trigger the depth effect or not manually. However, some users seem to have had luck resizing the photo using the Pinch to crop function when customizing the lock screen.

If you don’t like the depth effect or it doesn’t look right for the image you’re using, select the three dots at the bottom right of the customization screen and then select Depth Effect to toggle it on or off.

Note: The Perspective Zoom feature is sometimes also present here next to Deph Effect depending on the background you’ve chosen.

Custom lock screens are great, but you can make them even more useful by linking them to a Focus Mode.

Focus Mode is a feature Apple introduced with iOS 15. It allows you to create modes for different activities, such as being at work, studying, being asleep, or whatever else you need it to be. Focus modes can be triggered manually or linked to specific triggers, such as the time of day. Best of all, Focus Mode syncs across your iOS, macOS, iPadOS, and Apple Watch devices.

How To Add Local Files To Spotify

Spotify offers thousands of music tracks to listen to, but there’s a chance it doesn’t have your favorite music track. The good news is you can add your local files into Spotify and listen to those files on all your Spotify-supported devices.

It’s possible to add local files to the Spotify app on your computer and then listen to those music tracks on your computer, iPhone, and Android devices.

To import local songs into Spotify, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

You must be a Premium Spotify subscriber. Currently, the company doesn’t allow free users to add local files to Spotify.

You can only add local files from a computer. You can’t add files from your Android phone or iPhone, but you can listen to your local files on these devices.

You’ll need the Spotify app for your Windows or Mac computer.

Spotify only supports the following file formats: MP3, M4P, and MP4. To use MP4, you must have QuickTime installed on your computer.

To access local music files on your iPhone or Android device, both your computer and your mobile device should be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Now, let’s take a look at how to add local files to your Spotify account.

To import local songs into Spotify, download the Spotify app to your Windows or Mac computer and install it. Both Windows and Mac versions work pretty much the same, so you can use the same steps below on both.

Launch the app and log in to your Premium account. Then, follow these steps:

In the Spotify app, from the sidebar on the left, select Your Library.

If you’d like to listen to your local files on your iPhone or Android phone, you’ll need to add the local songs to a playlist first.

Adding songs to a playlist also makes it easier for you to find your favorite tracks when you want them.

On an Android device, you can use the official Spotify app to access your local music files:

Tap Your Library at the bottom-right corner of the app.

To download a playlist, tap the three-dots menu on the playlist screen and choose Download.

If you have trouble adding local files to Spotify, or your local files won’t appear in the app despite adding them, here are a few things you can do to fix the issue potentially.

If your local files don’t appear in Spotify, chances are your music folder’s toggle is turned off in the settings menu.

To fix this, launch the Spotify app, head into Settings, scroll to the Local Files section, and ensure the toggle next to your music folder is turned on.

If Spotify won’t add your local music tracks, or you don’t see these tracks in Spotify’s mobile apps, you might be running an older version of the app.

Regardless of the issue, you should always keep Spotify up to date on all your devices. To get the app’s latest version, head to Spotify’s download page, where you can download both computer and mobile apps for the platform.
