When the suggestions appear, you have to select a suggestion to further action.

This feature was launched with the Windows 11 22H2 update with several other new features. Unfortunately, this particular feature had a mixed reception. Some Windows 11 users are grateful to have this option, but some are simply annoyed and want to disable it.

2. Using Windows Registry Editor

Using Registry Editor is extremely risky. It is the heart of Windows, where all the system settings are available. So, one mistake! Good Bye Windows. Experts recommend taking a backup of the Registry Editor. Do it if possible. Once you are finished, follow the steps below.

1. Open Windows Registry Editor. (Press Win + R to open the RUN dialogue box. Type regedit and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.)

2. Navigate to the SmartClipboard key.

3. Access its Disabled value.

4. Change the Value Data to 1.

5. Exit Registry Editor.

Not too complicated. Still, navigate through the registry editor carefully.

Note: You can disable the Suggested Actions by changing the value to 1. Similarly, you can enable it by changing the value to 0.

3. With Windows ViVeTool

If you have enabled Suggested Actions on Windows 11 22H2 using ViVeTool, then use the same tool to disable it. Here’s how to do it.

1. You probably have the ViveTool already. If you don’t, download it from the GitHub page.

2. A ZIP file will download and you have to extract the contents.

4. After that, select Next and extract the files.

5. Create a new folder and name it the same as the ZIP File.

11. Hit Enter to run the command.

12. Now, run the following command.

vivetool /disable /id:34592303

After executing this command, exit the command prompt. Restart your computer and Suggested Actions should be disabled.

How To Enable Or Disable Nvidia In

Nvidia’s GeForce Experience brings with it a lot of benefits, including the Nvidia in-game overlay. This feature allows you to start broadcasting your game, perform instant replays, and record gameplay with just a tap of a button.

The Nvidia in-game overlay also lets you adjust Nvidia GPU settings on the fly to achieve optimal performance in your game, regardless of whether you’re trying to beat your high score or win a close game of Overwatch. This guide will show you how to open the Nvidia in-game overlay and troubleshoot potential issues.

Table of Contents

How to Enable The Nvidia In-Game Overlay

The overlay works with most games, but it requires you have GeForce Experience installed first. Many modern systems including Windows 10 and Windows 11 come with this application pre-installed, especially if they use an Nvidia graphics card. However, if you need to download the latest version, you can do so from the Nvidia website.

After you have installed GeForce Experience, you can open the overlay at any point by pressing Alt + Z. Doing this opens up several other features, too. You can take a screenshot with the overlay open by pressing Alt + F1, or you can enter Photo Mode by pressing Alt + F2.

Once in Photo Mode, you can change the way the game looks on-screen to snag screenshots with special effects. You can lay a 3×3 grid over the game, or you can apply different filters to what’s on-screen.

The filters include options like Colorblind Mode, which makes it easier for people that are colorblind to distinguish things in the game. You can also apply a Black and White filter, or a Painterly filter that makes the game look like it’s illustrated with brushstrokes. These filters only remain in place for the screenshot; as soon as you navigate away from the Photo Mode menu, the look of the game returns to normal.

If you do want to continue to play the game with the filters in place, that’s where the third option comes in: Game Filter. With the overlay pulled up, press Alt + F3 to bring up Game Filters. You can choose any of the filters you used for Photo Mode–along with a few new additional options, like the ability to remove the in-game HUD–and play the game differently.

This feature adds accessibility options, since colorblind players can use the Colorblind filter to better see the game. You can also access Performance metrics to measure the voltage, temperature of your GPU, and more. Keep in mind that using some features of the overlay, like the custom filters, can affect your frame rate.

How to Fix Nvidia Overlay

If you find that you can’t open the Nvidia overlay or that it doesn’t respond when you give commands, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and correct the problem.

Restart Your PC

The first and easiest step is to simply restart your PC. It takes only a couple of minutes and can resolve most common issues with your software.

Update Your GPU Driver

Out-of-date drivers are another one of the most common causes of problems with the Nvidia overlay. You can fix the Nvidia overlay by updating your drivers to the most recent version.

Open GeForce Experience.

Select Drivers at the top of the screen.

Select Download at the top of the screen.

After you download the file, you may need to restart your PC before it takes effect.

Check For Microsoft Windows Updates

If your drivers are up to date, then the problem with opening the Nvidia overlay might lie in Windows itself.

Open Windows Settings.

Select Update & Security.

Select Check for updates.

If there’s an update available, Windows will download and install it. After this is complete, restart your PC and test the Nvidia overlay once more.

Run GeForce Experience as Administrator

Sometimes you might need to run GeForce Experience as an administrator for it to have access to all the privileges it needs to run properly.

A window will pop up asking for confirmation. Select Yes.

Once GeForce Experience opens, launch a game and then press Alt + Z to open the overlay. This method will run it as an administrator just one time, but if it works, you’ll want to run it as an admin every time.

Select the GeForce Experience icon and choose Properties.

When the Properties menu opens, select the Compatibility tab.

Select Run this program as an administrator and then select Apply.

Doing this will ensure GeForce Experience runs in administrator mode every time.

The Nvidia in-game overlay is easy enough to activate and use, and opens up a lot of potential for users. You can change your gameplay experience with a filter, take customized screenshots, or even use accessibility features. It’s a useful program, and free to download.

How To Download Windows Updates Manually In Windows 11/10

Most of us use Microsoft Update to keep our Windows 11/10/8/7 operating system and Microsoft software updated. But if you want to, for some, reason, download the updates manually and save it to your computer, this is how you can go about it:

How to download Windows Updates manually in Windows 11?

While creating Windows 11, the developers made sure to analyze the data for which settings are used more and which are used less. No doubt Windows Updates were prioritized and a separate menu was created for the same. The procedure to download Windows updates manually in Windows 11 is as follows:

Select Settings.

In the Settings menu, check the list on the left-hand side.

Windows Update would be the last option. Select it, please.

If any Update has failed to install, you will see it mentioned.

Note down the KB number of the Windows Update.

Once you have the number, you need to manually download the KB from the Microsoft website, the procedure of which is explained below.

Download Windows Updates manually in Windows 10

You can also Pause Windows Updates, change Active Hours or look at the Update History.

If any Update has failed to install, you will see it mentioned this.

Note down the KB number of the Windows Update.

Note down the KB number mentioned in the bracket.

Manually download the KB from the Microsoft website

This way, you will be able to install the update manually on any one or more of your computers, as long as it applies to the installed operating system or software.

Downloading, saving, and installing Windows Update manually may be done if you need to save the updates for some reason or if you find that you are unable to update your Windows using Windows Update.

Microsoft Update Catalog is a service from Microsoft that provides a listing of software updates that can be distributed over a corporate network. Using the Microsoft Update Catalog can prove to be a one-stop location for finding Microsoft software updates, drivers, and hotfixes.

WSUS Offline Update is a free tool using which, you can update Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office easily without having an Internet connection.

Portable Update lets you update Windows 10 offline without an Internet connection.

Do we need to update Windows manually?

Ideally, Windows updates are performed by the system automatically. We don’t really need to hit the “Check for updates” button manually. But, if a third-party software stops the process, it needs to be restarted manually.

Furthermore, if you believe Windows hasn’t been updated for quite a while, performing a manual update could be very helpful. Personally, I check for a manual update occassionally just in case anything has been missed.

Why are Windows Updates so important?

One might argue that Windows Updates simply modify the features of the operating system or push fixes to existing problems, which many users might not require. So, why is it still important to make sure your system is up to date?

The reason is simple – security updates. Cybercriminals keep getting smarter and find ways to hack into the current system. To counter the same, Microsoft keeps launching security updates. These security updates are obviously important, else your system would be at risk.

How To Compress A Video In Windows 11

Are you getting “File is too large” error when you try to send a video to someone via a sharing or social platform? Or do you just want to save your disk space by reducing the file size of your video files? This guide will show you several methods on how to compress a video to reduce its file size in Windows 11.

The most common practice of reducing the file size of a video is reduce the video resolution. Raw video recorded using a camera or screen recorder usually has a very large resolution. If the video is to be seen on a rather smaller device, you can reduce its resolution to a smaller size such as 720p, 480p, etc. to significantly reduce its file size.

Some video players and apps will allow you to export a video with a different resolution. In Windows 11, you can use the built-in Photos app’s Video Editor feature to change the resolution of a video. Alternatively, you can also use a third party software such as VLC player to convert a video to a different resolution, but with much more choices of video resolutions.

Follow the steps below to change a video resolution using Photos app in Windows 11.

1. First, search for and open Video Editor via Start.

4. To edit the video, drag the video from the Project library to the are where it says “Drag items from the project library here”.

VLC media player is a popular media player that supports a wide range of audio and video formats. But did you know that you can also use VLC player to compress videos? With VLC player, you can easily compress your videos without sacrificing too much quality.

3. Next, select a Profile that best describe on what device the video will be viewed on. For example, if you select the “Video for iPod HD/iPhone/PSP” profile, VLC will convert the video to 480p along with other settings that best suited to be viewed on an iPhone, which will significantly reduce the video file size if the original resolution is rather large.

Trimming a video means to remove unwanted parts of the video to create a clip out of it. Doing so will reduce the video’s total file size as the video gets shortened. You can trim a video file using any video editor. In Windows 11, you can use the Photo’s app built-in Video Editor feature to trim a video without installing any third party software.

To learn how to do so, go to: How to edit and trim a video in Windows 11.

ZIP is a file format that supports lossless data compression. You can compress your video files by compressing it using Zip, or other compression formats such as RAR or 7Zip.

In the Add to archive window, select a compression level. The higher the compression level (“Ultra” being the highest level), the better the compression and the smaller the file size after compressed.

If a video is too large in size that there is no way to compress it small enough to fit into the sharing platform such as Facebook, WhatsApp, etc., you can upload your video file onto a file sharing service such as Google Drive or Dropbox, and then send the video link to whoever you want to share with so that they can download it using the link.

Since the file size limit for individual file you can upload to these sharing services is usually very large, you can upload your original video or compressed video without the concern of file size limit.

Alternatively, you can also upload your video directly to YouTube and share the video only with whoever you want to share with by setting the video as “unlisted” or “private”.

How To Remap Keyboard Keys In Windows 11

There are situations where you would want to change a keyboard key to a different key function for gaming purposes or for your works. This guide will show you how to reassign keyboard keys in Windows 11 using a tool called PowerToys by Microsoft.

For most gaming keyboards, you can easily remap keyboard keys using the software that comes with the keyboard, for example, Razer Synapse for Razer keyboards, or Logitech G Hub for Logitech keyboards. However, for normal keyboard that don’t have any software support, you can use tools that support universal keyboards such as PowerToys to change keyboard key mapping in Windows 11.

You can also use PowerToys to change key bindings for gaming keyboards or any other keyboard if you prefer not to use their own software.

Terminology tips: Changing key bindings, remapping a key or reassigning a keyboard key all have the same meaning, which is to change a keyboard key to a different key, function or shortcut.

How to change keyboard keys in Windows 11

To remap a keyboard key in Windows 11, we need to use a tool called PowerToys developed by Microsoft. Microsoft PowerToys is a set of freeware system utilities designed for power users to enhance their experience in Windows 11 and Windows 10.

It has a feature called Keyboard Manager which allows users to remap keyboard keys or shortcuts to other keys or shortcuts. To learn how to remap a keyboard key using PowerToys, follow the steps below.

First, download Microsoft PowerToys from the following GitHub repository.

Note: The screenshot above is as of Sept 2023. You may see a different version of PowerToys if there is a later version at the time you’re downloading it.

Install PowerToys

Once you’ve downloaded the installer, open the setup and install PowerToys.

When you are asked if you would like to automatically start PowerToys at Windows logon. We recommend enabling this option as you will need PowerToys to run at the background for whatever key mappings you’ve set to work. In other words, key bindings you’ve set in PowerToys will not work if PowerToys is closed.

Remap a key in Windows 11 using PowerToys

To remap a key, for example, reassigning the key E to Z so that when you press E, it will instead output Z, do the following.

The “Type” also accepts keys combination input such as Ctrl + C. That is to say, you can map any key or keys combination to another key or keyboard shortcut. For example, if you map the key E to Ctrl + Shift + Esc, when you press E, it will output Ctrl + Shift + Esc instead (which is to open the Task Manager).
