Suggested March 2024 How To Fix “Cannot Estimate Gas” On Pancakeswap

Are you getting a “cannot estimate gas” error on PancakeSwap?

Here’s the second part of the error message, “The transaction cannot succeed due to error: cannot estimate gas”.

Followed by, “transaction may fail or may require manual gas limit. This is probably an issue with one of the tokens you are swapping”.

If so, you won’t be able to buy or sell the token on PancakeSwap.

The error can occur when you’re swapping a token like Bonfire, Safemoon, or others.

Errors like these are very common on PancakeSwap, so you’re not the only one experiencing them.

In this guide, you’ll learn what “cannot estimate gas” means on PancakeSwap and how to fix it.

What does “cannot estimate gas” mean on PancakeSwap?

Cannot estimate gas on PancakeSwap means that the exchange cannot evaluate the fee of the transaction.

This typically happens when there are too many decimal places in the number of tokens.

When there are too many decimal places in the number of tokens, the “cannot estimate gas” error will occur.

For example, if you’re swapping BNB for 155.948235 ANKR, you may get the error message.

This is because the token has too many decimal places.

Another reason why you got the “cannot estimate gas” error is that the token might be a scam.

If the token has a lot of recent transactions (both buys and sells), it’s most likely not a scam.

However, if the token has little to no transactions, the token is probably a scam.

How to fix “cannot estimate gas” on PancakeSwap

To fix “cannot estimate gas” on PancakeSwap, you need to increase your slippage tolerance to 12%.

After you’ve increased your slippage tolerance, you need to change the number of tokens you’re trying to swap.

For example, if you’re trying to swap BNB for Safemoon, the number of Safemoon may have a lot of decimal places.

Otherwise, the last numbers of Safemoon might be very randomized (e.g. 5207218).

If that’s the case, PancakeSwap might not be able to estimate the fee of the transaction.

As a result, the transaction will fail and you’ll get the “cannot estimate gas” error.

On the other hand, a low slippage tolerance can cause your transaction to fail due to the fee of the token.

You can fix this by increasing your slippage tolerance in increments to find out the lowest slippage tolerance for the transaction to succeed.

Step 1: Select the tokens and open the settings

Open PancakeSwap and connect your wallet.

Select the token that you want to buy in the “To” field.

Select the token that you want to use to swap for it in the “From” field.

Tap on the Settings icon.

Step 2: Change your slippage tolerance to 12%

Input 12%* into the “Slippage tolerance” field.

Tap on the “X” icon to close the Settings.

*Instead of entering “12%”, you can increase your slippage tolerance in increments.

For example, you can start with a 2% slippage tolerance, then work your way up to 4%, 6%, 8%, and more.

This will allow you to find the lowest slippage tolerance for the transaction to succeed.

However, if you’re trying to buy a token like Safemoon, you’ll need to set a slippage tolerance of 12% (this is due to the token’s fees).

Step 3: Enter the amount of BNB/ETH you want to swap

Select the tokens that you want to swap if you haven’t already (e.g. from BNB to ANKR).

Enter the amount of BNB or Ethereum that you want to swap for the token (e.g. if you want to swap 0.04515 BNB, input “0.04515” in the “From” field*).

*This will make the “To” field estimated.

Do note that the “To” field cannot be estimated if you’re buying a token, it can only work if you’re selling.

If the “To” field is estimated, you may receive an error message like the “cannot estimate gas” error when you tap on “Swap”.

Instead, you need the “From” field to be estimated.

Step 4: Change the last numbers to zero

Change the last numbers of the token that you’re buying to zeroes* (e.g. if you’re trying to buy 155.958 ANKR, change it to 155.000).

Swap the tokens!

*When you’re buying a token, you need the “From” field to be estimated.

In most cases, changing the last numbers of the token that you’re buying to zeroes will fix the “cannot estimate gas” error.

However, if the last numbers of the token that you’re trying to buy are already all zeroes, try changing it to random numbers.

For example, if you’re trying to buy 155.000 ANKR, try changing it to 155.958.

If you’re still getting the “cannot estimate gas” error, try changing the numbers in the “To” and “From” fields to random ones until the transaction succeeds.

This is because the error message is usually caused by the number of tokens that you’re trying to swap.

Generally, if you’re buying a token, make sure that the “From” field is estimated.

To do so, you need to change the last numbers of the token in the “To” field.

On the other hand, if you’re selling a token, make sure that the “To” field is estimated.

To do so, you need to change the last numbers of the token in the “From” field.

This will mitigate any transaction errors, such as the “cannot estimate gas” error.

Some users have reported issues with signing in to their iCloud account using the iCloud for Windows app on their PC. How you can solve this problem depends on what is preventing you from signing in; For example, it is possible that you may be having network problems, or there may be a password-related problem. It is highly likely that you will receive an error message when you have this problem; Some users have said they receive an error message like this when they attempt to use iCloud for Windows (This particular example says Mac, this appears on Windows):

Cannot sign in to iCloud. You cannot sign in to iCloud because there was a problem verifying the identity of this Mac. Try restarting your Mac and signing in again.

Likewise, some users have said that they receive an error message saying “An error occurred during authentication. Please try again”. Sometimes you may not get an error message, but the login screen may be unresponsive.

iCloud for Windows is an app developed by Apple for users who have Apple and Windows devices. If you have a Windows PC, this app enables you to access your photos, videos, email, calendar, and other files on your PC. Apple explains how you can download this app. After downloading the app, you can start using it on your PC with your Apple ID.

Obviously, if you are having this problem, you won’t be able to access your iCloud items on your PC. In this article, I will list several tips you can try to address this sign-in problem.

Before going further, restart your PC and ensure that you have the latest version of iCloud for Windows. You can update this by going to the Microsoft App Store. Also, see that all available operating system updates are installed on your PC.

1. Basic steps

First, ensure that there is nothing wrong with your Apple ID and account. Here is what you should check:

Make sure that your Apple ID and password are correct. If you forgot your password, you can reset it here.

Bnb Smart Chain On Rise With Pancakeswap & Chainlink

The Binance Smart Chain merged with the previous Binance Chain into the BNB Chain in early 2023.

President Biden’s executive order on cryptocurrencies this week brought good and bad news for crypto. The good news is the US government acknowledged the need to support innovation in the industry. The bad news is the EO’s long-term aim of reducing energy consumption.

Although digital currencies are virtual, top cryptos like Bitcoin have a very real-world impact.

data predict Bitcoin will use more than 200 TWh in 2023 – that’s more than the energy consumption of Thailand. Data shows Bitcoin emits over 110 Mt of CO2 per year, equal to the annual consumption in the Czech Republic.

The world’s second-biggest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, is not much better than

as it consumes around 75 TWh per year. But not every blockchain platform is so energy-intensive. According to a report from the French crypto association,

found the BNB Chain’s annual energy consumption to be so low it had no measurement except ‘negligible’.

BNB Chain – an environmentally friendly alternative to Bitcoin?

The BNB Chain’s native token (BNB) is the fourth-biggest cryptocurrency by market cap ($62 billion). BNB also powers the wider Binance ecosystem which includes the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by volume. The Binance Smart Chain merged with the previous Binance Chain into the BNB Chain in early 2023.

The BNB Chain’s low energy consumption is directly linked to its consensus model – a mix of proof of stake and proof of authority. Whereas there are thousands of Bitcoin miners and Ethereum validators the BNB Chain requires just 21 validator nodes to ensure the functioning of the network. It means there is some level of centralisation in the BNB Chain but also drastically reduced consumption of electricity.

Below are 5 tokens on the BNB Chain, including EverGrow Coin, PancakeSwap, Chainlink, and more.

Current price: $377

Current market cap: $62 billion

is the native token of the Binance ecosystem. It quickly rose to become major crypto since Binance’s launch in 2023 and sits with a market cap smaller only than Tether, Ethereum, and Bitcoin.

EverGrow Coin

Current price: $0.0000004733

Current market cap: $250 million

EverGrow Coin is a rewards token that launched on the BNB Chain in September last year. EverGrow Coin holders receive daily rewards in the native Binance stablecoin BUSD, financed by an 8% tax on all EverGrow Coin transactions.

EverGrow Coin

is the smallest BNB Chain token on this list but is fast growing as it launches the world’s first crypto native content subscription platform to rival OnlyFans and Patreon. The platform, called Crator, will accept BNB, BUSD, and EverGrow Coin with any profits pumped back into rewards for investors by strategic coin burns. EGC recently passed $35 million in BUSD rewards.

Current price: $5.47

Current market cap: $1.5 billion

is a decentralised finance (DeFi) application that allows users to exchange tokens on the BNB Chain. It launched in September 2023 and allows users to trade against a liquidity pool. This liquidity pool is filled by users who deposit funds into the pool in return for CAKE tokens as a reward. Users can also stake CAKE to earn more CAKE or other tokens.

Current price: $13.2

Current market cap: $6.1 billion

is a blockchain abstraction layer that allows smart contracts and interaction between blockchains. In 2023 LINK holders will be able to stake to secure the network and earn rewards.

How To Fix Network Discovery On Windows 10

On Windows 10, network discovery is a feature that allows you to quickly find devices connected to the network using File Explorer.

When the feature is enabled, using the Network tab in File Explorer, you can see all the devices, and you can even browse their available resources, such as shared folders and printers, and more. The only caveat is that network discovery doesn’t always work as expected, and sometimes, you may not be able to find any computer, or you may see some of them, but others might be missing.

Whatever the reason case might be, you can troubleshoot and resolve almost any problem with network discovery by making sure the feature is enabled, the required services and protocol are running, using the network troubleshooter, or reseting the networking stack on Windows 10.

In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to troubleshoot and fix network discovery on Windows 10.

Fix network discovery enabling feature

If you can’t see any of the network devices in File Explorer, it’s probably because network discovery isn’t enabled.

To enable network discovery with Control Panel, use these steps:

Expand the Private network profile.

Under the “Network discovery” section, select the Turn on network discovery option.

Under the “File and printer sharing” section, select the Turn on file and printer sharing option.

Once you complete the steps, you should now be able to find other computers and gadgets in the local network.

Fix network discovery starting required services

If network discovery is enabled, and File Explorer doesn’t show any of the devices, one or more of the required services may not be running.

To fix network discovery on Windows 10, use these steps:

Open Start.

Confirm the following services are in a “running” status:

DNS Client.

Function Discovery Provider Host.

Function Discovery Resource Publication.

SSDP Discovery.

UPnP Device Host.

In the “Startup type” option, use the drop-down menu and select the Automatic option.

Repeat steps No. 4 through 6 to make sure the required services are running.

After you complete the steps, open the Network tab in File Explorer and confirm that network discovery is working.

Fix network discovery enabling SMB protocol

If network discovery is working, but you’re missing some devices, such as an old computer, hard drive connected to the network, or Network-Attached Storage (NAS), then it’s possible that those devices are still relying in the old version of Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.

It’s not recommended to use SMBv1 for security reasons, but if you must access devices using network discovery, you may need to enable the feature.

To enable SMB version 1 on Windows 10, use these steps:

Open Start.

Expand the SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support branch.

Select the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client option.

Once you complete the steps, open File Explorer, and in the Network tab, you should now see the missing devices.

Fix network discovery using troubleshooter

In the case that network discovery still not working, it’s possible that there’s a networking problem, which you might be able to resolve using the network troubleshooter.

To run the network troubleshooter to fix network discovery, use these steps:

Open Settings on Windows 10.

Select the Network Adapter option.

Select the network adapter connected to the network — for instance, Wi-Fi.

After you complete the steps, the troubleshooter will try to fix the network problem. After the process completes, open File Explorer and confirm that devices are now appearing in the Network tab. If everything is working again, you’re all done. If it’s still not working, try the following method.

Fix network discover resetting adapter

If the troubleshooter didn’t work, you can use the network reset feature, which removes and reinstalls all the network adapters on your computer. This process resets all the networking components and restores the defaults settings, which can help to fix network discovery problems.

Warning: These steps will reset your wireless credentials, as such you must know your Wi-Fi password before proceeding, so you can reconnect later.

To reset the network adapter settings to fix network discovery problems, close all your running applications, and use these steps:

Open Settings.

Restart your computer.

Once you complete the steps, you may need to reinstall other networking software, such as VPN client or virtual switch software (if applicable). Also, you’ll need to manually reconnect to any wireless network, which may require to enter the passcode again.

How To Fix Game Stuttering On Windows 11

As a gamer myself, I can completely understand the frustration you feel when the game you play suddenly starts to stutter randomly or drop in FPS. While game stuttering can be caused by many reasons, I’ve sorted a list of most possible causes for game stuttering on Windows 11 and their respective solutions in this post.

Also see: Game Stuttering and Lag on Dual Monitor

Screen recording is a very resource consuming process. This is a fact that is still not known by many people. When a recording program is actively recording your gameplay, it may cause some quite significant FPS drop and game stuttering issues, especially if your graphics card and CPU are not sufficiently powerful.

Therefore, check if you have any third party recording programs such as NVIDIA Shadowplay, Outplayed, OBS, etc. running in the background while you play your game. Close it and see if the game stuttering issue can be resolved.

In addition, there is a built-in game recorder in Windows 11 called Game DVR that is enabled by default. Game DVR is a feature that assist users with automatic video recording of gameplay in the background. If Game DVR is actively running in the background to record your gameplay, since it’s also a quite resource-demanding process, it may cause FPS drop and/or random game stuttering.

Hence, try to disable Game DVR and see if it helps with the game stuttering issue. To disable Game DVR in Windows 11, follow the steps below.

Go to Start menu, type “regedit” and open Registry Editor.

In the Registry Editor window, copy and paste the following path to the address bar, and press Enter to open the path. ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSystemGameConfigStore

Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Suggested Guide: How to Show FPS in Games on Windows 11

One of the most common causes of game lag, FPS drop or game stuttering is running other resource intensive apps or programs such as Chrome while you game. For example, if you watch YouTube, Twitch or other streaming or video website on a second monitor while you game on your primary monitor, you will likely encounter FPS drop and random game stuttering.

If that’s the case, try to close Chrome and other resource intensive apps before running your game and see if it helps resolving the game stuttering issue in Windows 11.

Suggested Read: Game Lag When Watching YouTube or Twitch on Chrome

Game stuttering and FPS drop are often caused by the fact that you are running multiple apps and programs along with your game. If you need these apps and programs to stay running while you game, you can set your game as high priority via the Task Manager to allow Windows 11 to prioritize resources (e.g. CPU and GPU resources) for your game.

This workaround is very effective especially you need to keep some Chrome tabs open while you play your game. Simply set your game as high priority and the random game stuttering can be significantly reduced.

Alternatively, you can also set other resource intensive tasks to low priority if they are not important. However, be aware not to set critical processes as low priority as it may cause other issue such as system instability.

G-Sync is a technology by NVIDIA to reduce screen tearing and game stuttering while keeping input-lag to the minimum. If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, try to enable or disable the G-Sync option to see if it helps improving the game stuttering and FPS drop issue.

For more info: How to Turn On G-Sync or FreeSync in Windows 11

To turn on or off G-Sync, open NVIDIA Control Panel via the notification area (taskbar corner) or by searching it from the Start menu. In NVIDIA Control Panel, expand Display on the left pane, and then select Set up G-SYNC.

From there, you can enable or disable G-Sync technology for your monitor by checking or unchecking the checkbox for “Enable G-SYNC, G-SYNC Compatible“. You can also choose to enable G-Sync for full screen mode only, or both full screen and windowed mode.

Most games, especially modern and latest games, would perform much better in terms of Frames Per Second (FPS) and unlikely to have game stuttering issue in full-screen mode than in windowed mode on Windows 11.

Try to change the in-game display or video settings to fullscreen mode instead of windowed mode and see if it helps improve the in-game FPS and reduces game stuttering events.

Read: How to Go Full Screen on Windows 11 Games or Apps

There are several settings you can tweak in the NVIDIA or AMD 3D settings to help improve the in-game FPS and reduces the chance of game stuttering. The instructions below outlines how to configure the 3D settings for NVIDIA GPU users. You can find similar settings in the AMD Radeon Settings if you are using an AMD GPU.

To configure NVIDIA 3D settings, open NVIDIA Control Panel and select Manage 3D settings from the left pane. On the right, select Global Settings if you want to change the settings for all apps and games, or select Program Settings instead if you want to change the settings for only one game.

Power management mode – This option allows you to set a preference for your GPU’s performance level when running 3D apps such as games. Setting this to “Prefer maximum performance” will maintain the graphics card at its maximum performance state when games are running regardless of GPU usage, which can increase power consumption. The default setting is “Optimal power”.

Texture filtering Quality – This option allows you to decide if you would prefer performance, quality, or a balance between the two. Selecting high quality will provide highest visual quality while reducing performance (lower FPS). On the contrary, selecting “High performance” will improve FPS by sacrificing some visual quality.

Recommended Tip: How to Force Game to Use Nvidia GPU or Integrated Graphics

Check the power options in Windows 11 to see what power plan is currently active. If the selected power plan is set as “Power Saver“, Windows will save energy by reducing your computer’s performance wherever possible.

This may cause FPS drop or stuttering when you play a game with this power plan. This is especially the case if you are using a laptop computer where power plan plays an important role when you are on battery.

Try to set the power plan to “Balanced” (should be sufficient) or “High Performance” for maximum performance. You can access the power options by searching “Edit power plan” via the Start menu in Windows 11.

There are often bugs and software conflicts that may cause new games to have random problems, which requires a hotfix from the driver side. If you haven’t already done so, try to update your graphics driver to the latest version and see if the game stuttering issue can be fixed.

Read: How to Update Graphics Driver in Windows 11

Audio also plays an important role in terms of in-game FPS and stability in certain games. In some games that have an incredibly high amount of audios and sound effects, the audio quality may directly affect the in-game FPS of the game and can even cause game stuttering.

Reducing the in-game sound quality (or disabling the audio) can drastically improve the performance of the some games. Try to lower the in-game audio quality settings and see if it helps to improve the in-game FPS and reduce the game stuttering events.

The causes of game stuttering and FPS drop issues can be very vast and sometimes unknown. If the game stuttering issue only happens in one particular game, you may need to search for solutions specific to the game. The game may have hotfixes or patches that are specific to the bugs or performance loss issue.

Generally, if you encounter FPS drop when you play a new game, it may just indicate that your graphics card is not powerful enough to run it smoothly. Try to reduce the in-game graphics settings or upgrade your graphics card.

RAM (Random-access memory) also plays an important part in multi-tasking. If you need to run multiple programs while playing games, add more RAM to your computer so that each app and game can have sufficient memory to run with.
