Suggested March 2024 How To Fix Dark Mode Not Working Problem
After ages of praying and pleading, Google has finally officially introduced a system-wide Dark theme in Android 10. And as expected, the Dark theme has emerged as one of the standout features of Android 10.
If you are one of the very few people who aren’t aware of the benefits of having a darker theme, the hype can feel a bit overwhelming. But in our humble opinion, it seems to be worth it.
Most users prefer using a darker theme for aesthetic purposes, claiming it allows the app icons to pop up more than lighter alternatives. Having a darker theme, especially in poorly-lit conditions, reduces eye strain. And finally, it has been confirmed by Google that dark mode gives your battery a helping hand, aiding your phone to attain higher screen-on times.
Like every new feature, the Dark theme, too, has encountered a few roadblocks along the way, and in this piece, we’ll try to knock them down for you.
What is Dark mode?
As mentioned earlier, Dark mode is a visual tweak, which turns all your whites into dark greys or black, thus reducing eye strain. We’ve seen its adaptation in apps (Nova Launcher, for example)/system (One UI, for example) over the last couple of years.
Implementing the Dark mode in apps is quite different than system-wide implementation. In apps, developers aren’t usually required to think about erratic interference, as they simply ship off Dark mode as a regular theme.
System-wide implementation — like Google has done in Android 10 — on the other hand, is a lot trickier. Unpredictable behavior, app override, and extensive implementation in all menus and sub-menus across the system make it a really challenging project.
How do you activate Dark mode?
The previous section should have made it abundantly clear that Dark mode implementation is done differently in apps and system. So, it’s obvious that the procedure for turning on Dark mode would also vary.
On Google Pixel or any Android 10-powered smartphone, you’ll find the Dark mode/theme toggle under Display settings. There’s also an option to schedule Dark mode, which would switch your phone to black, automatically, when the clock runs down.
As for apps, it’s hard to pinpoint an exact location for the Dark Mode toggle, but it’s generally found under the themes section. Also, starting with Android 10, many apps would also let you pick “System default” as your theme, making sure your app and system’s themes are always in sync.
Why it may not be working
Despite endless refinement and incremental beta releases, it’s not always possible to hash out inconsistencies, especially not before the update’s gone live in the wild. Dark mode (theme) has been one of Android 10’s standout features, for sure, but many users have been having a hard time getting the feature to work in certain apps.
Pinpointing the exact reason behind these issues is hardly possible, but app developers usually iron out the wrinkles over two, three updates. As Android 10 and 10-based apps are still in their early days, those aren’t exactly as refined as we’d like. We should see some positive changes over the next few months.
How to fix it
Yes, it might be a no-brainer, but it’s not a bad idea to be extra careful and check the theme settings of the apps you’re having trouble with. Be sure to set it to System default (if Dark theme is turned on) or Dark.
If that doesn’t solve the issue, go to the app’s settings, clear cache, and try setting the theme again. Unlucky again? You will probably have to wait for the app developer to address the issue and release a patch.
Make sure you have the latest version installed of the app you are looking to enable the dark mode on. Remember, not all apps have the dark mode right now, but the good news is that most of the popular apps from your popular tech companies now have it. So, the situation is not as bad as it was when Android 10 was launched.
To update an app, open your Play Store app, tap the Hamburger menu button at the top left, tap My apps and games. Here’s you will have the listy of all apps for which an update is available.
Alternatively, simply search for the app on the Play Store, open its listing, and hit the update button is an update is available.
Is Dark mode available for the app?
The most important factor in being able to use dark mode feature is its availability, which differs from app to app as not many apps have the dark mode yet.
If you can’t find the Dark Mode or Theme option in the app’s settings, then it basically means that the Dark Mode is not available for your app at the moment.

AirDrop has long been one of the most celebrated features of the Apple ecosystem. Every Apple device in the market supports AirDrop and it is almost impossible to imagine life without this lightning-quick file exchange service. As you would expect, iOS 15 also carries this “life-altering” service. However, some are not having an easy time getting it to work.
So today, we will be taking a look at some known AirDrop issues, telling you how to fix them. Now, without further ado, let us get to it.

How to check Airdrop compatibility between devices
Before we get into the solutions, we must figure out whether the devices that we are trying to connect are capable of running AirDrop. Compatibility is key when it comes to such deeply-integrated features, and not all Apple devices are blessed to run AirDrop.
If you are transferring or receiving from an iPhone, make sure the other device is running at least iOS 7. Anything older than that will not be able to make AirDrop transfers work.

How to solve AirDrop not working issue on iPhone in 11 ways
Now that you have checked for compatibility, we can get down to finer details and give you the top ten tips that might help you use AirDrop again.
1. Make sure you have enough space
This is less of a solution and more of a prerequisite, which is why it comes in even before the first solution. Before you start an AirDrop session, make sure the file you are sharing is not exceeding the space you have left on your mobile. If the file being shared is bigger than the permitted space, the file transfer will not succeed.

2. Restart Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
To turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, you must go to Settings and tap on Bluetooth/Wi-Fi.
Now, turn the toggle off.
You might have noticed that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can be turned off from the Control Center itself. However, those are only temporary measures and only suspend the services for a day. They are turned back on again the next day.

3. Restart your iPhone
If simply turning Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off does not do the trick, the next course of action is to restart your iPhone. You cannot just press and hold the side key to do it. You must also press and hold the Volume Down button simultaneously while pressing down. Now, when you get the power off slider, slide it towards your right until the screen goes dark. After a few seconds, your phone is turned off.
Now, press and hold the side key to turn the phone back on again. Try AirDrop again and see if it works.
4. Turn off Airplane Mode
The Airplane Mode comes in pretty handy when you are trying to dodge people or are literally on a plane. However, when establishing a connection with a device, Airplane Mode does a lot more harm than good. Since Airplane Mode pretty much messes with your network connections, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, you are not going to have any luck using AirDrop while Airplane Mode is engaged.
To turn off Airplane Mode, bring down the Control Center and tap on the Airplane Mode button at the top.

5. Turn off Low Power Mode
When you want to make your iPhone last a little bit longer, you might be tempted to turn on the Low Power Mode. And while it is indeed an excellent tool to maximize screen or standby time, it does sacrifice a couple of functionalities. AirDrop depends on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to connect your device to another.
With Low Power Mode turned on, you will only have access to essential services. As useful as AirDrop is, it is not considered to be an essential service and hence turned off when Low Power Mode is turned on.
To turn off Low Power Mode, first, go to Settings and then tap on ‘Battery.’
At the top of your screen, you will find the ‘Low Power Mode’ toggle at the top of your screen.
Turn it off and try AirDrop once again.
6. Make yourself and the device you are sharing to Discoverable
If the person you are sharing with is not in your Contacts list, AirDrop’s default settings will not allow you to exchange files. Thankfully, all you have to do is turn off the filter and you should be good to go.
First, access the Control Center and press and hold the area that highlights the network connections. This will open up all the available connections, one of which will be AirDrop. Tap on it to access its options.
Select ‘Everyone’ instead of ‘Receiving Off’ or ‘Contacts Only’ to make your iPhone ready for AirDrop exchange.
7. Sign-out and sign-in to iCloud
iCloud is one of the most reliable services on an iPhone, but it is surely not immune to rogue bugs or longer response times. These issues generally resolve themselves. However, if they do not for some reason, you could reset the process by signing out and then back into iCloud. First, go to Settings and tap on the banner at the top of your screen, where your name is written.
Now, scroll down and tap on ‘Sign Out.’
You will need to enter your Apple ID password to sign out completely from iCloud. After you do, tap on the ‘Turn off’ button at the top-right corner to disable iCloud.
Retrace your steps to log back in again.
8. Reset network settings
Resetting your iPhone’s network settings is a surefire way to solve general issues related to Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and AirDrop. So, to get rid of AirDrop issues be sure to give the good-old reset a shot. First, go to Settings and tap on ‘General.’
Now, tap on ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone.’
Next, tap on ‘Reset.’
Then, tap on ‘Reset Network Settings.’
Finally, enter your passcode and your iPhone’s network settings will be reset.
Since iOS 15 is a relatively new OS, it is bound to have its fair share of bugs, even after rounds of beta testing. Apple will be rolling out software updates periodically, hoping to squash known bugs.
So, to make sure you are having the best iOS 15 experience, you must make software updates a habit. Yes, they consume a lot of time, but they are important for your device’s well-being.
To get the latest version of iOS 15, first, go to Settings and tap on ‘General.’
Next, tap on ‘Software Update’ at the top of your screen.
Tap on ‘Download and install’ if an update is available.
10. Reset your phone
Resetting is a painful process, we know, but it might be necessary if none of the previous eight solutions works for you. To reset your iPhone, first, go to Settings and tap on ‘General.’
Now, tap on ‘Transfer or Reset iPhone.’
Next, hit ‘Erase All Content and Settings.’
iPhone will tell you exactly what will be removed from your mobile and how. Tap on ‘Continue’ to begin.
Finally, enter your passcode to confirm.

The answer to this is yes – but likely not as much as you think, and it needs to be more than just Facebook that you use for Dark Mode. Ultimately, if you use Dark Mode across everything on your device, Facebook included, you may see a 10% increase in overall battery life. Of course, that depends on various factors, including overall screen brightness and the other functions you perform on your phone or laptop.Do I need to use Dark Mode?
This is a question that’s entirely up to you as the user. Dark Mode is thought to be a little easier on the eyes, especially at night. For many people, reading a bright screen, especially later in the evening, could break their circadian rhythm. Dark Mode won’t go as far as helping you fall asleep faster, but it does reduce some of the eye strain that occurs. Is it possible to enable Dark Mode only after a certain hour?
You can schedule Dark Mode (system-wide) to take effect on your device after a particular hour (for example, at sunset). If you’re an Android user, we have a tutorial that shows how to schedule Dark Mode to take effect at sundown. If you’re using a Windows PC, try AutoDarkMode, an open-source program that allows you to schedule dark mode at custom hours. If you want to make sure your Facebook app switches to dark mode as well, opt for the “System” option under “Dark mode” so that the app can mirror the system preferences.

A user mentioned that all of their notifications are on, but they are not working half the time.
Another user said that they couldn’t receive any messages.
There’s also a report saying that there is a notification bug.
In this guide, you’ll learn why your Facebook Messenger notifications are not working and how to fix it.Why are my Messenger notifications not working?
Your Messenger notifications are not working because you’ve probably turned them off.
If your notifications are on but you’re still not getting them, it means that Facebook Messenger is down or due to a bug.
If Facebook Messenger is down, there is nothing that you can do on your end.
Instead, you need to wait for the Facebook engineering team to fix the downtime or bug.
This will usually take no more than 24 hours.
Bugs and glitches happen all the time on Messenger.
Fortunately, the Messenger app frequently has updates to fix them. How to fix Messenger notifications not working
To fix Messenger notifications not working, you need to make sure that your notifications are enabled.
If you didn’t allow notifications for Facebook Messenger, you won’t be able to receive message notifications.
However, if you enabled notifications but you still can’t receive them, it means that Facebook is probably down or there’s a bug on the app.
If that’s the case, you need to wait for Facebook to fix the issue on their end.
This will usually take no more than 24 hours.
When they fixed the issue, an update will typically be released for the app.
Hence, you need to check the App Store or Google Play Store to see if Messenger has an update.1. Make sure that your notifications are enabled
Open your Settings.
Scroll down and tap on “Messenger”.
Enable “Allow Notifications”.
After you’ve enabled “Allow Notifications”, you need to force close Messenger.
Messenger will then be able to send you message notifications.
If you’ve already enabled notifications for the app but you still can’t receive them, it means that there’s a bug or glitch on the app.
If that’s the case, you need to try the other two methods below.2. Check if Messenger is down

Firstly, you can go to DownDetector and search for “Facebook Messenger”.
Once you’re on the “Facebook Messenger” page, you need to check the graph for it.
If the graph has a spike, it means that the app is down for everyone and not just you.
If so, you need to wait for 24 hours for Facebook to fix the issue on their end.
Another way to check if Messenger is down is to search for “Facebook Messenger Down” on Twitter.
After you’ve searched for it, check the top and latest tweets to see if anyone tweeted about it.
You can also search for the specific issue that you’re facing (e.g. Facebook Messenger not sending notifications).
If there are a lot of tweets about it, it means that there’s a global outage.3. Update Messenger
The final method is to check if you have the latest version of Messenger.
However, some Messenger updates contain bugs and glitches.
If so, Facebook will typically release a follow-up update to fix them.
Updates that you want to be looking out for are the ones that contain bug fixes and improvements.
After you’ve updated the app, open it and check if you can receive notifications,
If there isn’t an update, you need to wait for 24 to 48 hours for one.
Instead of updating the app, you can also uninstall and reinstall it.
By doing so, the app’s cache will be cleared and it’ll be updated to the latest version. Conclusion
Despite its maturity, Facebook Messenger still has bugs, glitches, and crashing issues.
These bugs and glitches are usually caused by a new update.
In rare cases, there might be a server issue.
If there are a lot of users complaining or reporting about them, Facebook will implement a fix.
You’ll then have to update the app to the latest version to get rid of the bug.Further reading
