Luckily, there is a way to use those eye-catching wallpapers! Though the process involves a bit of workaround, it’s worth having a shot at. Let me demonstrate how it’s done the right way!

How to Get Live Fish Wallpapers Back in iOS 11 on iPhone

We are going to use two third-party apps to download the wallpaper and convert it into a live photo. We have found Documents, the well-known file manager, and intoLive, a fine video-to-live photo converter very efficient in getting the task done. So, download both these apps before going ahead.

How To Delete Duplicate Photos On Iphone In Ios 16

The software update was revealed to cheers at Apple’s reveal at WWDC 2023 in June, with big changes including a hugely customisable lock screen, the ability to edit and unsend text messages and a new on-device dictation system, but there are plenty of smaller features and tweaks that Apple didn’t mention on the day.

It concerns the Photos app, and more specifically, duplicate photos and videos. Whether we’ve saved an image on WhatsApp not realising it has already been added to the Photos app or double-screenshotted a particularly juicy conversation, we’ve all got duplicates in our photo library and they take up valuable space, both on-device and in iCloud.

The best way to deal with duplicates is to find and delete them – and there are plenty of apps on the App Store and Mac that’ll help in this regard. However, with iOS 16, you don’t need any additional app or tech – just head to the Photos app.

If you’re running the iOS 16 beta ahead of launch and want to keep your photo library in check, here’s how to find and merge duplicate videos on iPhone in iOS 16.

How to find duplicate photos and videos in iOS 16

At a glance

Time to complete:

2 minutes

Tools required: An iPhone running iOS 16

1.

Make sure you’re running the iOS 16 beta

Dominik Tomaszewski / Foundry

The first step, if we’ve not made it obvious until this point, is to make sure you’re running the iOS 16 beta.

You can sign up via the Apple public beta website, and we’ve got a step-by-step guide on how to install the iOS 16 beta if you’re unsure.

2.

Open the Photos app

Lewis Painter / Foundry

Once you’re running the latest iOS 16 beta, open the Photos app on your iPhone and head to the Album tab.

3.

Find the new Duplicates utility

Lewis Painter / Foundry

Scroll past your albums, photos and people and media types until you get to the Utilities menu at the bottom of the list.

Within the list of imported, hidden and recently deleted media (the latter of which are now Face ID-protected), you’ll find a new option – Duplicates.

Simply tap the Duplicates icon to access the new duplicates utility.

4.

Select the duplicate photos you’d like to delete/merge

Lewis Painter / Foundry

You’ll now see a list of all the duplicate photos and videos stored on your iPhone and in iCloud.

Rather than simply deleting one and keeping the other, Apple has opted to merge the two, combining the metadata from both so nothing is lost.

This means you’ll keep necessary metadata like the date taken, location, the phone used and more – a feature not offered by most third-party alternatives.

You can merge duplicates one-by-one by tapping the Merge button, but we’d recommend batch merging. You can do this by tapping the Select icon in the top-right and tapping Select All.

5.

Merge your duplicates

Lewis Painter / Foundry

Once you’ve selected the photos and videos you’d like to merge, tap the Merge button at the bottom of the screen and tap Merge on the pop-up to confirm.

That’s it! Your iPhone will then merge all your duplicate photos and videos, freeing up some much-needed space on your iPhone and iCloud.

Icloud Contacts Missing On Iphone? Here Are 8 Solutions To Get Them Back

Have you lost your contacts on your iPhone and now you’re wondering how to get them back? This tutorial shows you how to restore missing iCloud contacts and get them back on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Check out this related post if you lost some or all contacts on Mac.

How to recover missing iCloud contacts

Before doing anything, I suggest you visit chúng tôi log in with your Apple ID, and go to the Contacts section. Make sure you have the contacts there. Obviously, if you don’t have any contacts in iCloud, you won’t be able to bring any of them back to your iPhone.

Here are the solutions to get back your missing iCloud contacts inside the iOS Phone and Contacts app.

1. Make sure you’re signed into iCloud

First, you must check that you’re signed in to iCloud. To do that, go to iPhone Settings and if you see your name at the top, that means you’re signed in. If you’re already signed in, move on to solution 2. If you’re not signed in, sign in with the same your Apple ID you use on your iPhone.

2. Ensure iCloud Contacts is enabled

Go to iPhone Settings and tap your name from the top.

Tap iCloud.

Under iCloud settings, make sure the Contacts toggle is on. If it’s not, switch it on. In case your contacts still aren’t coming back, continue to the following step.

In iCloud settings, turn the Contacts toggle off. You will be asked whether you want to keep or delete previously synced iCloud contacts. Choose delete. Don’t worry about losing anything since it will only delete the contacts that are locally stored on your iPhone or iPad. It will not delete contacts that are stored in iCloud.

Now, turn the Contacts toggle back on.

This trick should do it, and all your iCloud contacts that were missing should now be restored. As with any troubleshooting, your mileage may vary and if this didn’t work for you, follow the remaining solutions below.

3. Enable iCloud in iPhone Contacts

Although your iCloud contacts might already be on your iPhone, they could have been accidentally hidden. Here’s what to do if that is the case:

Open the Contacts app or the Phone app and tap Contacts.

Tap Groups from the top left.

Make sure All iCloud (and your other added accounts like All Gmail) are checked.

Tap Done, and in a while, you should see the missing contacts.

Note: If you don’t see Groups in step 2, that’s because you have not added two or more accounts (like iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) or have not created any contact groups. In this case, you can skip the above steps.

4. Connect your iPhone to the internet

For iCloud contacts to sync and show up on your iPhone, the device must be connected to Wi-Fi or cellular data. If you’re facing slow or poor internet speeds, restart your Wi-Fi router. If you are using a VPN, try turning it off.

5. Restart your iPhone

At times, the above changes may not come into effect and fail to restore the missing contacts unless you restart your iPhone. Before moving forward, turn off your iPhone, wait for 30 seconds, and turn it back on.

6. Update your iPhone 7. Sign out of Apple ID and sign in again

When you sign out of your Apple ID or iCloud on iPhone and sign back in, it refreshes everything. While doing so, you’ll be asked if you want to keep a copy of the contacts. Make sure you choose to delete them. Once you’re signed out, sign in again, and this will resync all the iCloud contacts, including the missing ones.

8. Reset all settings

Finally, if nothing helps, reset all iPhone settings. Once that’s done, follow the first method explained here and make sure the Contacts toggle is enabled in iCloud settings. This should most likely fix the lost contacts issue on your iPhone.

How To Enable “Fast” Haptic Touch In Ios 17 On Iphone

iOS 17 has come up with several neat enhancements including the “Fast” Haptic Touch setting. This feature makes Haptic Touch way more responsive compared to that of iOS 16.

Apple has changed the name of its older “Fast” setting from iOS 16 to “Default” and added the new one as “Fast”. Hence, there are now three Haptic Touch settings to choose from.

With that said, let’s learn how to enable “Fast” Haptic Touch on iPhone in iOS 17.

How to Enable “Fast” Haptic Touch in iOS 17 on iPhone

Wondering how effective the fast Haptic Touch is? Let’s first clear all doubts!

What is Fast Haptic Touch on iOS 17?

Haptic Touch has been available for a long time on iPhone. It provides instant access to shortcuts and contextual menus. You can make use of Haptic Touch by simply holding down an application or interactive icon to access frequently performed actions. It not only speeds up your task but also enhances the overall user experience.

Much before Haptic Touch was introduced on the iPhone XR, 3D Touch existed on iPhones (starting from iPhone 6s/6s Plus). Until iOS 16, you could only switch between the Fast and Slow Haptic Touch speed.

However, with the introduction of iOS 17, you now have three options to choose from. The new “Default” setting behaves just the way the “Fast” setting on iOS 16 did. On the other hand, the new “Fast” setting is way faster than the Default, and Slow options. It shows context menus hundreds of milliseconds faster compared to the older “Fast” setting.

In other words, the new fast Haptic Touch setting shortens the time of invoking the overflow menu when you long press on an app icon or in-app button.

Does Enabling Haptic Touch Drain the Battery on Your iPhone?

When you enable the fast Haptic Touch, the quick actions menus appear way faster and also feel more responsive. Although it can boost the user experience, do note that it might consume a bit more battery.

Activate and Adjust “Fast” Haptic Touch on Your iPhone with iOS 17

To get started, open the Setting app on your iPhone.

After that, scroll down and select Accessibility.

Then, tap on Touch under the “Physical and Motor” section.

Now, tap on Haptic Touch.

Choose Fast under the “Touch Duration” section.

Once you have selected the fast touch duration option, test the speed by long-pressing on the flower image in the “Touch Duration Test” section. Yeah, you got that right! It will offer you a better perspective on how this new feature works.

Stay Tuned In For More…

That’s done! I guess you have got a good understanding of how to activate and customize the fast Haptic Touch in iOS 17. Having used this feature ever since I stumbled upon it in the latest iteration of iOS, I must that it’s neatly implemented and works as expected. So, I’m sure you will begin to love Haptic Touch more than ever before.

How To Back Up Your Iphone

Your iPhone is home not just to all your favorite apps, but also to important and irreplaceable data and personalized settings. Should your phone ever stop working properly or even go missing, you want to be able to restore all your apps, data, and settings, either to the same phone or to a different one. And you want that process to be as quick and easy as possible. That’s why backing up your iPhone periodically is crucial.

The process of learning how to back up your iPhone is fairly straightforward, However, you can choose from a few different backup methods, such as backing up to iCloud or to your computer and backing up manually or automatically. Here’s how it all works:

Want to protect your phone as well as your data? Check out our list of the best iPhone 13 cases for 2023.

iCloud vs local backup Backing up to iCloud

Choosing iCloud stores your backup in Apple’s cloud-based service. With this method, you run the backup directly from your phone, so you can do this at home or on the go. As your backup is saved in the cloud, you’re also able to restore it from any computer. On the downside, Apple limits the amount of free iCloud storage to only 5GB. If your phone needs more space for backups (and it likely will), you’ll have to shell out money for a paid iCloud subscription—50GB of storage for $0.99 cents a month, 200GB for $2.99 a month, or 2TB for $9.99 a month.

Backing up your phone to iCloud includes the following data and files:

App data

Apple Watch backups

Device settings

Home screen and app organization

iMessage texts, SMS messages, and MMS messages

Photos and videos

Purchase history from Apple services, such as your music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books.

Ringtones

Visual Voicemail password (requires the SIM card in use during the backup)

An iCloud backup excludes the following items:

Data already being synced and stored in iCloud, including Contacts, Calendars, Notes,  Photos, iMessages, SMS and MMS messages, Voice Memos, and Health data.

Data stored in other cloud services, such as Gmail email.

Apple Mail data.

Apple Pay information and settings.

Face ID or Touch ID settings.

iCloud Music Library and App Store content.

Backing up locally

Choosing a local backup stores the backed-up data on your computer’s hard drive. As such, storage shouldn’t be an issue as long as you have enough disk space. You run the local backup from iTunes in Windows or from Finder on a Mac. But you risk losing the backup should your PC ever crash or become inaccessible. Backing up to your computer includes almost all your phone’s data and settings. It excludes the following items:

Content from the iTunes and App Stores.

PDFs downloaded directly via Apple Books.

Content synced from Finder or iTunes, such as imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books, and photos.

Data already stored in iCloud.

Face ID or Touch ID settings.

Apple Pay information and settings.

Apple Mail data.

Activity, Health, and Keychain data (if the backup is not password protected).

Of course, you can run separate backups using iCloud and your local computer. You may want to rely on an iCloud backup if you’re traveling or away from your computer. You might then supplement the iCloud backup with a local backup whenever you’re in front of your PC.

Manual vs automatic backup

Whether you use iTunes, Finder, or your iPhone directly, you can run a backup manually or set it to run automatically. The two aren’t exclusive, as you can create an automatic backup and still run a manual one when needed, for example, before you make any major changes on your phone. Once set, an automatic backup revs up when your iPhone is connected to a power source, is using Wi-Fi or cellular, and is locked.

Using a password

Securing your backups with a password not only protects the data but allows you to back up certain types of information that normally would be excluded. A password-protected, or encrypted backup, includes saved passwords, Wi-Fi settings, your website browsing history, health data, and call history. Backups to iCloud are automatically encrypted. To encrypt a local backup to your computer, you’ll have to create and apply a password. All local backups are then encrypted from that point on.

Back up in Windows with iTunes

Lance Whitney

To set up an automatic and local backup from iTunes, select This Computer in the Automatically Back Up section. The next time your iPhone is connected and locked, and you open iTunes, the backup will occur automatically. The Latest Backups section shows the date and time of the last backup.

Back up on your Mac with Finder

With the introduction of macOS Catalina in 2023, Apple replaced iTunes with dedicated apps for specific content, such as Apple Music, Apple Books, and Apple Podcasts. Those of you still running an older version of macOS can use iTunes to back up your iPhone just as on a Windows PC. But if your Mac has macOS Catalina or higher, you instead use Finder for your phone backups. The process in Finder is almost the same as in iTunes.

Back up to iCloud from your iPhone

You don’t even need your computer or iTunes or Finder to back up your iPhone to iCloud as you can do it directly from the phone itself. And you’d use this method to back up your phone manually or automatically. On your iPhone, go to Settings and tap your name at the top. From your Apple ID screen, tap the setting for iCloud.

Lance Whitney

First, this screen shows you how much space is used up in iCloud so you can determine if you need to upgrade to a paid subscription. If you’re running low on space, tap the option for Manage Storage. At the next screen, tap the option for Change Storage Plan. Now choose the plan you want to purchase.

Lance Whitney

Return to the previous iCloud screen and tap the setting for iCloud Backup. Turn on the switch for iCloud Backup. Your phone will now be backed up automatically when the phone is connected to power and locked. If you want the backup to run even over a cellular connection, turn on the switch for Back Up Over Cellular. To perform a manual backup at any time, tap the option for Back Up Now.

Lance Whitney

Restore your phone

Now, let’s say your phone isn’t working right and you want to recover it from a backup, or you’ve had to jump ship to a different phone and need to restore all your data and settings. The process will vary depending on how and where you backed up your phone and its current state.

Lance Whitney

If your iPhone isn’t accessible or you want to restore your backup to a new phone, at some point in the setup process you’ll see a screen named Apps & Data asking how you want to restore your apps and data to the phone. To restore from an online backup, choose the option for Restore from iCloud Backup. Sign into your iCloud account with your Apple ID and password. A verification code is then sent to one of your other devices, such as an iPad or Mac. You’re asked which backup you want to restore. Choose the latest one. Allow the iCloud restore to run.
