At the same time, Nvidia GeForce Driver 397.31 also brings issues of its own. There is already a list of known issues that you can check out on Nvidia’s website. Apart from these bugs, gamers also encountered other problems after updating their graphics cards.

Nvidia GeForce Driver 397.31 reported issues

1. Install fails

Many gamers reported that the update process often fails with various errors or simply freezes. If you’re experiencing the same problem, you can try to do a custom installation. Users confirmed that this quick workaround helped them install the update after the first attempt failed.

Also, install error 43 seems to affect many GeForce GTX 1060 cards from three particular hardware manufacturer. Nvidia is already aware of this problem and is working on a fix:

Based on the emails I have received so far from end users, I believe the Code 43 error upon installing driver 397.31 on a GeForce GTX 1060 cards mostly/only affects cards from PNY, Palit and Gainward.

If you encountered this bug on cards from a different card maker, contact Nvidia support.

I had the exect same thing, my second monitor had no input and my resolution was really low. I think its just a bad update for some… i reinstalled the previous version of my drivers and now everything is working again!

If your computer fails to recognize the second monitor, check out this troubleshooting guide to fix the problem.

3. FPS drops

Gamers also experienced FPS drops on certain Nvidia GPU models such as the 1050TI. Reverting to a previous driver fixed the problem.

I had issues with 1050 ti (Gigabyte 1050TI WF OC4) Laggy UI in sove work software, drop in FPS in a game. Reverting to older fixed the issues.

4. Exclusive full screen won’t work

Some gamers can’t play their favorites games on full screen mode after installing driver 397.31. This is quite an annoying bug as it limits the overall gaming experience. Fortunately, this problem affects only a few games such as Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 has a problem with driver 397.31. Exclusive fullscreen doesn’t work, the game always reverts immediately to windowed mode whenever I use the game’s settings menu to change to fullscreen, or if I press Alt + Enter. This was not an issue with previous drivers, as I played the game today using 391.35 before updating the driver, and it ran fine in exclusive fullscreen.

Hot Wheels, the latest Forza Horizon 3 DLC, brings a series of exciting new features and improvements to the table. Unfortunately, the expansion is also affected by a series of technical issues.

In this article, we’re going to list the most common Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels issues on both PC and console, as well as their corresponding workarounds whenever available.

Forza Horizon 3: Hot Wheels reported bugs

Players can’t back out of the buy screen

I’m unable to back out of the hot wheels screen right after the short video after the new hot wheels update.

To fix this problem, follow these steps:

Load up Forza Horizon 3 and go to the “Buy Now” screen you are stuck at.

Press the Xbox Guide button to go back to the dashboard and open up the Forza Hub App. Do not shut the game down.

Open up the Hot Wheels is Here! Story on the Forza Hub App.

Press the black “Play Now” button on the first page of the story and select Continue when prompted.

Go back to the game. You should now be able to back out of the “Buy Now” screen.

Hot Wheels won’t install

Many players report that they can’t install the Hot Wheel extension because the download process suddenly stops. Sometimes, error 0x87E00005 appears on the screen as well.

Updated FH3 last night, and this morning, I go to install the expansion itself. It gets to just over 1GB, then it suddenly stops […] I’ve restarted my console, and gone to install it again, and it won’t download at all. It gave me an error code: 0x87E00005

If you’ve encountered this issue, try performing a hard reset. First, close all your games and hold the X button down until the system shuts down. Then, disconnect the external power from the wall plug and wait one minute.

Plug the power cord back in, restart the console, and then wait until the device self-checks and fully boots to the dashboard. This time, the Hot Wheels extension should install smoothly.

Low FPS issues

When driving through a Loop-the-Loop alongside multiple cars in an online session, the frame rate dips noticeably.

Players further detail that this issue often occurs only when they are looking forward during sunrise or sunset, or when multiple cars are on-screen at the same time.

Players don’t have access to all their cars

I have gotten 100 medals and completed the goliath race but i only have access to the Rip Rod, the bone shaker, and the twin mill. how do i get the rest of my cars

To get all your cars, simply go to the autoshow and DLC tile, then go to All cars and collect them from there.

Blizzard Mountain won’t load after installing Hot Wheels

after the Hot Wheels Expansion the game won´t let me travel to Blizzard Mountain. I´m always stuck in in infinite loadingscreen.

Turn 10 Studios has already acknowledged this issue and is working on a fix.

Dishonored 2 Issues: Game Freezes, Low Fps Rate, Control Lag, And More

Dishonored 2 issues: game freezes, low FPS rate, control lag, and more

Dishonored 2 is now available in Early Access for those who pre-ordered it. Steam’s stats confirm that 8,000 gamers are playing Dishonored 2. The game’s official release is scheduled to take place tomorrow, November 11.

Dishonored 2 will also have a day-one patch of 9GB and for a good reason: Early Access players already report the game is affected by various issues that severely limit the gaming experience. It’s likely the patch won’t fix all Dishonored 2 bugs, and we’ve prepared a list of the most common issues reported by gamers so that you know what to expect.  Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be experiencing all these issues.

Dishonored 2 reported issues Game download stops at 65%

This is definitely a very annoying issue for all the gamers who are dying to play Dishonored 2. The download process suddenly stops and when players want to resume it, an error message appears on the screen.

Anyone know what to do? it’s installing on my external HD that has about 400gb left of free space.

Low FPS rate

Many gamers complain that Dishonored 2’s low FPS rate causes stuttering even on low settings. For the time being, there is no clear workaround available to fix this bug.

Game runs horrible, even on low settings i got like 30 fps, if anyone has a solution which might help, pls let me know.

White dots around edges in certain places

Some gamers also report that there are white dots around edges, especially on ceilings. These white speckles can become very distracting at times. The good news is that you can quickly fix this bug by using the TXAAx1 method on far right in the menu. The downside of this solution is that it makes everything look a bit blurry.

White dots around certain edges in the game. it appears to be mostly the ceilings and no where else which means it is not artifacting. anyone know of a fix for this.

The game crashes at loading screen

Expert tip:

So I verified the cache and tried everything but it keeps crashing at the loading screen with Emily and Corvo. Anyone else running into this issue? […] I’m also running DirectX 11. Could you guys please help out? I really want to play it and would even be willing to deal with crappy framerate but not getting past the first screen is annoying as hell.

Dishonored 2 freezes

Players report that the game runs fine for the first 10-15 minutes but then suddenly freezes. The game becomes unresponsive and a window pops up with an annoying “Check for solutions” message.

Game will with out fail run fine for 5-10 minutes and then Freeze. The last triggered audio will play itself out, be it Emily’s voice or a cut scene character, and then the game becomes unresponsive and windows pops up the “check for solutions” box. […]  I’ve tried lowering various settings but the crashing persists. I have the latest Nvidia driver and Windows update. Any idea what to try next?

 Control bugs

Dishonored 2 players are also complaining about control lag. Often, it takes a few seconds for your action to translate into the game. There is no solution for this bug yet.

Dishonored 2 is stuck in Windowed Mode

Other issues include:

Obscured edges of the screen. This gets even worse when gamers crouch, as the effect is a strange blurry overlay on the corners of the screen.

There’s no button option for (hold) lean left and right: “I really just want to be able to tap lean to peak like in the last game, and it should be sped up a bit as well right now it feels a bit too slow and the disoriented slanted state it leaves you in is ridiculous and disorienting when you’re trying to move away from that state.”

Mouse aim is locked to certain speeds : “It doesn’t act like traditional mouse acceleration, what it feels like is more like it’s locked to certain speeds where I’ll move quickly to a point and stop and it’ll take a second for the screen to catch up”

There’s no description on any of the graphical or HUD options.

The FPS (frames per second) rate can have a big impact on games’ gameplay when it drops. FPS rates aren’t always consistent as some Windows users have found that their frame rates are somewhat lower when they start games up.

The frame rates might drop to 10-20 FPS on some games’ startup menus. These are a few resolutions that might fix low FPS frame rates on game startups.

How do I fix low FPS in games on startup?

You can open Device Manager by pressing the Win key + X hotkey.

Select Device Manager on the menu to open its window below.

The driver date on that tab tells you when it was last updated.

Press the Update Driver button on that tab if the driver hasn’t had any recent update.

Then you can select a Search automatically for updated driver software option to find a more updated driver.

Uninstall Device is an alternative option you can select on the Driver tab.

Press that button to uninstall a driver that might be corrupted.

Windows will automatically reinstall the driver when you restart the OS.

Launch games with Game Booster software

Dodgy or outdated graphics card drivers can certainly have an impact on frame rates. Windows Update usually automatically updates graphics card drivers so you shouldn’t need to.

However, anybody who has switched the update service off should check for graphics card updates.

Alternatively, you can fix a corrupted graphics card driver by reinstalling it. Device Manager is the window to open for updating or reinstalling drivers.

Use the Alt + Tab Hotkey

Expert tip:

That opens the Alt + Tab switcher with which you can reopen the game. When you return to the game, its FPS frame rate will usually jump up.

Developers release updates to fix issues in their latest games. Some updates might fix known FPS issues. For example, SEGA released an update to fix a frame rate bug in Vanquish.

Check the games’ official websites for new updates from which you can then download and install patches.

Background software and processes always reduce system resources for games. Whether your games have low FPS rates or not, you should always free up RAM before launching them to ensure they run smoothly and reduce potential system conflicts.

There are a few game booster, or launcher, software that automatically optimize Windows when you launch a game.

Razer Cortex: Boost is a renowned freeware game launcher for Windows 10/8/7, and some Razer users have stated that it dramatically boosts FPS rates.

One of the best things about the software is its Game-Boosting mode that automatically closes superfluous background processes when you open a game from Cortex’s library, the Start menu, Steam, Origin or a desktop shortcut.

Furthermore, the software also includes a FPS counter and stats tools.

Those fixes might boost your games’ startup FPS rates and ensure they stay consistent with the average frame rate. For some more general tips to increase frame rates, check out this Windows Report article.

Nvidia Geforce Gts 450 1Gb Gets Official For $129

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1GB gets official for $129

NVIDIA has given the official nod to the new GeForce GTS 450 video card, an “affordable” model that still attempts to deliver decent gaming performance.  In fact, the company reckons the Fermi-based card packs 2.4x the geometry processing performance over its predecessor, along with DirectX 11 support and a roughly $129 price tag.

More interesting, perhaps, is NVIDIA’s claim that the GeForce GTS 450 1GB is up to 65-percent faster than AMD’s ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB, something we can’t imagine their arch rivals are happy about.  There’s also support for NVIDIA 3D Vision and SLI for multi-card setups.

ASL, ASUS, Colorful, ECS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Jetway, KFA2, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle and Zotac are all launching GeForce GTS 450 cards, so you’re spoilt for choice if you’re in the mood for Fermi but aren’t feeling flush.

New NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 Delivers DX11 Done Right to Even More PC Gamers

New GeForce GTS 450 Delivers 2.4X Geometry Processing Performance Over Previous Generation Products

‘The GeForce GTS 450 makes huge strides in expanding DX11 capability to the masses. Civilization V plays beautifully on the GTS 450 and looks even more amazing with 3D Vision technology.’

–Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development, Firaxis Games

‘We are excited about the GeForce GTS 450, which brings awesome performance to a very affordable price point. By delivering a great gaming experience mixed with some cutting-edge features such as support for 3D Vision, we are confident that fans of Dead Rising 2 will have a great platform to play on.’

–Shinsaku Ohara, Producer of Dead Rising 2, Capcom

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwire) — 09/13/2010 — NVIDIA today announced the latest addition to its Fermi-class of graphics processing units (GPUs), the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTS 450 — which was designed to deliver the best DX11 price/performance in the $129 USD price category. According to the latest Steam survey, a leading indicator of the hardware used by PC gamers today, 56 percent(i) of gamers play at mainstream resolutions, typically between 1600×1050 and 1280×1024. The GTS 450 was specifically designed to excel at these resolutions, delivering awesome DX11 performance with 4X antialiasing turned on, enabling more gamers than ever before to experience incredibly detailed characters, terrain and game environments with blazing fast performance and awesome visuals.

For games and applications that feature tessellation — the key feature of DX11 — the GTS 450 is up to 65% faster than the closest competitive product(ii). Even in last generation DX9 and DX10 games, the GTS 450 is faster by over 30%(iii), including in the blockbuster PC title StarCraft II. This makes the GTS 450 a terrific GPU for playing this year’s hottest games including the upcoming holiday titles like Civilization V and Hawx2, both of which feature support for DX11 and tessellation, and other games, such as Dead Rising 2.

“The GeForce GTS 450 makes huge strides in expanding DX11 capability to the masses,” said Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development, Firaxis Games. “Civilization V plays beautifully on the GTS 450 and looks even more amazing with 3D Vision technology.”

“We are excited about the GeForce GTS 450, which brings awesome performance to a very affordable price point,” said Shinsaku Ohara, Producer of Dead Rising 2 at Capcom. “By delivering a great gaming experience mixed with some cutting-edge features such as support for 3D Vision, we are confident that fans of Dead Rising 2 will have a great platform to play on.”

With full support for NVIDIA 3D Vision™ technology, the GeForce GTS 450 also provides the graphics horsepower and video bandwidth needed to experience games and high definition Blu-ray movies in eye-popping stereoscopic 3D. And with NVIDIA SLI technology, the industry’s most scalable multi-GPU platform, gamers will be ecstatic to almost double their gaming performance by adding a second GTS 450 to their PC, when budget allows.

The GeForce GTS 450 is available starting today from the world’s leading add-in card partners, including ASL, ASUS, Colorful, ECS, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Jetway, KFA2, Leadtek, MSI, Palit, Point of View, PNY, Sparkle, Zotac and others.

Nvidia Geforce Gtx 780 Delivers Titan Die With A “Pure Gaming Focus”

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 delivers TITAN die with a “pure gaming focus”

As NVIDIA continues its journey down the gaming road with software specifics such as the GeForce Experience, so too do they continue to tweak and empower their graphics cards – like the GeForce GTX 780, for instance. This week the GTX 780 has been revealed with much of the same hardware delivered in the GeForce GTX TITAN, but with slight differences that make it just a little bit less expensive and, as NVIDIA has informed us, “more of a pure gaming focus card than TITAN.”

The GeForce GTX 780 works with the same GK110 GPU used in the GeForce GTX TITAN. Inside are 12 SMX units bringing 2,304 CUDA cores, along with six 64-bit memory controllers (that’s 384-bit) with 3GB of GDDR5 memory – that’s 50% more of each than the GTX 680 delivered.

This memory interface also delivers up to 288.4GB/second peak memory bandwidth to the GPU. Like TITAN, this card is meant to run next-generation technology such as WaveWorks and FaceWorks, each of these demoed at NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference earlier this year.

GeForce GTX 780 works with a base clock speed of 863MHz while a typical Boost Clock speed works at 900MHz. This number comes from an average found by NVIDIA running “a wide variety of games and applications”, while the actual Boost Clock speed will depend completely on your actual system conditions. Memory speed on the 780 is noted at a 6008MHz.

The software solution that allows this control will be available on the NVIDIA reference design for the GTX 780 as well as to partners who wish to implement it on their fans. Expect a bit more of a smooth ride with this feature implemented on your card – TITAN quiet.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 is build to work with, again, the same die as the GTX TITAN, but here has no extra double-precision floating-bit. Users will be working with around a 70% performance upgrade over the GTX 580, and an overall experience that’s consistent with gamers wanting to blast out maximum graphics settings and screen resolutions with high levels of AA to boot.

The NVIDIA-made GeForce GTX 780 reference board is 10.5-inches in length and works with two dual-link DVIs, one DisplayPort connector, and a full-sized HDMI out. Users will need to power this amalgamation with one 6-pin PCIe power connector and one 8-pin PCIe power connector.

THe NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780’s pricing sits at $649 USD and this will be the first card delivered with NVIDIA giving manufacturers the GeForce Experience to include on their install disks. While the GeForce Experience is an entirely optional system to install, and it’s completely free to download from the web either way, this release does mark the first point at which NVIDIA is formally pushing the GeForce Experience as an interface they recommend to anyone and everyone working with GeForce hardware and a love for one-button graphics and performance optimization for games.
