Suggested March 2024 Spotify Web Player Not Working – How To Fix The Issue?

Spotify is very well known among music enthusiasts for its prediction algorithm. Spotify is a music streaming platform that can be used to listen and download (premium only) songs over the internet. It has a vast collection of music across various genres, and many people use it on a regular basis.

Here I will discuss why the Spotify web player is not working, and how you can resolve it.

This serious flaw can become very annoying for those looking to relax listening to their curated playlists. We now look at what may be causing the error.

This error is most probably caused by mismatched cache. An outdated cache can cause all sorts of errors on your device, including this Spotify web player error.

Since Spotify lets you remotely control the playback across your devices, if you have set your primary speakers as your phone, you may notice Spotify not playing through your web browser. This is another common cause that users are unable to play audio through the Spotify web player.

If you too see the Spotify web player an error occurred message on your device, or see Spotify not playing any songs, you can follow this list of potential solutions to successfully solve this error.

More often than not, users tend to forget what device they are playing the song on. This happens mostly due to the fact that Spotify remembers which device you last played on, and uses that speaker as the default output device. Hence, if you have more than one device connected to your account, you are more likely to forget to change the output device.

You will now be able to play songs out of the device that you have the web browser opened in.

Note: If you have more than three devices connected to the same account, try switching the output to different devices and then select the web browser option at the end. Many users said that this simple workaround involving cycling through the connected devices solved the error on their part.

Even if you have subscribed to Spotify Premium, if you have an ad blocker installed, there will be some error or the other because of conflicts within the two. You will need to turn off the ad-blocker or add Spotify to your adblocker’s white list to solve the Spotify web player error.

If you see the Spotify web player an error occurred on your web browser, it is possible that there may be some issue with your internet connectivity that is causing the Spotify failure. This is a very common issue and can be resolved very easily.

First, try opening the Spotify Web Player in another browser and try playing audio through it. If the web player fails to play music on other browsers as well, there is a possibility that there may be some error with your internet connectivity.

On nearly every kind of network, there is a timeout period, after which the connectivity throttles upon continued usage. Restarting your router and putting your device on Airplane mode and back, will reset the network, and the throttle should be over. This will clear the network errors, and you should be able to resolve the Google Chrome error.

On Windows, you can try clearing the DNS cache as well. To do that:

Open an elevated Command Prompt. To do this, open a Run window by pressing Win + R. Type cmd and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to launch Command Prompt with administrative privileges.

ipconfig /flushdns

Wait for the confirmation message and then try loading your web pages again.

If none of the above methods helped you, you need to clear the outdated cache on your device that may be the cause of this error.

Many websites store some data on your devices so as to load them faster the next time you visit these sites. These stored data are called cache and are very useful in reducing the waiting time for websites to load.

However, the outdated cache can cause a conflict with the new site data, and cause all sorts of errors with the site. This can be the possible reason that you are facing this error.

To solve your Spotify web player not working error; clear all your Google Chrome data like cookies and cached images and files.

To clear Google Chrome data, press the Ctrl + Shift + Delete in a new tab to open the Clear browsing data dialog box. Here select All time from the Time range drop-down menu. Then select Clear data.

Note: This shortcut also works for many other browsers like Firefox and Edge.

How To Fix Messenger Notifications Not Working

Are your Facebook Messenger Notifications not working?

If they aren’t, you won’t be able to receive notifications when someone messages you on the app.

A user mentioned that all of their notifications are on, but they are not working half the time.

Another user said that they couldn’t receive any messages.

There’s also a report saying that there is a notification bug.

In this guide, you’ll learn why your Facebook Messenger notifications are not working and how to fix it.

Why are my Messenger notifications not working?

Your Messenger notifications are not working because you’ve probably turned them off.

If your notifications are on but you’re still not getting them, it means that Facebook Messenger is down or due to a bug.

If Facebook Messenger is down, there is nothing that you can do on your end.

Instead, you need to wait for the Facebook engineering team to fix the downtime or bug.

This will usually take no more than 24 hours.

Bugs and glitches happen all the time on Messenger.

Fortunately, the Messenger app frequently has updates to fix them.

How to fix Messenger notifications not working

To fix Messenger notifications not working, you need to make sure that your notifications are enabled.

If you didn’t allow notifications for Facebook Messenger, you won’t be able to receive message notifications.

However, if you enabled notifications but you still can’t receive them, it means that Facebook is probably down or there’s a bug on the app.

If that’s the case, you need to wait for Facebook to fix the issue on their end.

This will usually take no more than 24 hours.

When they fixed the issue, an update will typically be released for the app.

Hence, you need to check the App Store or Google Play Store to see if Messenger has an update.

1. Make sure that your notifications are enabled

Open your Settings.

Scroll down and tap on “Messenger”.

Select “Notifications”.

Enable “Allow Notifications”.

After you’ve enabled “Allow Notifications”, you need to force close Messenger.

Messenger will then be able to send you message notifications.

If you’ve already enabled notifications for the app but you still can’t receive them, it means that there’s a bug or glitch on the app.

If that’s the case, you need to try the other two methods below.

2. Check if Messenger is down

If you’ve already enabled notifications on Messenger but you still can’t receive them, it probably means that the app is down.

There are a couple of ways to check if the app is down.

Firstly, you can go to DownDetector and search for “Facebook Messenger”.

Once you’re on the “Facebook Messenger” page, you need to check the graph for it.

If the graph has a spike, it means that the app is down for everyone and not just you.

If so, you need to wait for 24 hours for Facebook to fix the issue on their end.

Another way to check if Messenger is down is to search for “Facebook Messenger Down” on Twitter.

After you’ve searched for it, check the top and latest tweets to see if anyone tweeted about it.

You can also search for the specific issue that you’re facing (e.g. Facebook Messenger not sending notifications).

If there are a lot of tweets about it, it means that there’s a global outage.

3. Update Messenger

The final method is to check if you have the latest version of Messenger.

However, some Messenger updates contain bugs and glitches.

If so, Facebook will typically release a follow-up update to fix them.

Updates that you want to be looking out for are the ones that contain bug fixes and improvements.

After you’ve updated the app, open it and check if you can receive notifications,

If there isn’t an update, you need to wait for 24 to 48 hours for one.

Instead of updating the app, you can also uninstall and reinstall it.

By doing so, the app’s cache will be cleared and it’ll be updated to the latest version.

Conclusion

Despite its maturity, Facebook Messenger still has bugs, glitches, and crashing issues.

These bugs and glitches are usually caused by a new update.

In rare cases, there might be a server issue.

If there are a lot of users complaining or reporting about them, Facebook will implement a fix.

You’ll then have to update the app to the latest version to get rid of the bug.

How To Fix Dark Mode Not Working Problem

After ages of praying and pleading, Google has finally officially introduced a system-wide Dark theme in Android 10. And as expected, the Dark theme has emerged as one of the standout features of Android 10.

If you are one of the very few people who aren’t aware of the benefits of having a darker theme, the hype can feel a bit overwhelming. But in our humble opinion, it seems to be worth it.

Most users prefer using a darker theme for aesthetic purposes, claiming it allows the app icons to pop up more than lighter alternatives. Having a darker theme, especially in poorly-lit conditions, reduces eye strain. And finally, it has been confirmed by Google that dark mode gives your battery a helping hand, aiding your phone to attain higher screen-on times.

Like every new feature, the Dark theme, too, has encountered a few roadblocks along the way, and in this piece, we’ll try to knock them down for you.

What is Dark mode?

As mentioned earlier, Dark mode is a visual tweak, which turns all your whites into dark greys or black, thus reducing eye strain. We’ve seen its adaptation in apps (Nova Launcher, for example)/system (One UI, for example) over the last couple of years.

Implementing the Dark mode in apps is quite different than system-wide implementation. In apps, developers aren’t usually required to think about erratic interference, as they simply ship off Dark mode as a regular theme.

System-wide implementation — like Google has done in Android 10 — on the other hand, is a lot trickier. Unpredictable behavior, app override, and extensive implementation in all menus and sub-menus across the system make it a really challenging project.

How do you activate Dark mode?

The previous section should have made it abundantly clear that Dark mode implementation is done differently in apps and system. So, it’s obvious that the procedure for turning on Dark mode would also vary.

On Google Pixel or any Android 10-powered smartphone, you’ll find the Dark mode/theme toggle under Display settings. There’s also an option to schedule Dark mode, which would switch your phone to black, automatically, when the clock runs down.

As for apps, it’s hard to pinpoint an exact location for the Dark Mode toggle, but it’s generally found under the themes section. Also, starting with Android 10, many apps would also let you pick “System default” as your theme, making sure your app and system’s themes are always in sync.

Why it may not be working

Despite endless refinement and incremental beta releases, it’s not always possible to hash out inconsistencies, especially not before the update’s gone live in the wild. Dark mode (theme) has been one of Android 10’s standout features, for sure, but many users have been having a hard time getting the feature to work in certain apps.

Pinpointing the exact reason behind these issues is hardly possible, but app developers usually iron out the wrinkles over two, three updates. As Android 10 and 10-based apps are still in their early days, those aren’t exactly as refined as we’d like. We should see some positive changes over the next few months.

How to fix it

Yes, it might be a no-brainer, but it’s not a bad idea to be extra careful and check the theme settings of the apps you’re having trouble with. Be sure to set it to System default (if Dark theme is turned on) or Dark.

If that doesn’t solve the issue, go to the app’s settings, clear cache, and try setting the theme again. Unlucky again? You will probably have to wait for the app developer to address the issue and release a patch.

Make sure you have the latest version installed of the app you are looking to enable the dark mode on. Remember, not all apps have the dark mode right now, but the good news is that most of the popular apps from your popular tech companies now have it. So, the situation is not as bad as it was when Android 10 was launched.

To update an app, open your Play Store app, tap the Hamburger menu button at the top left, tap My apps and games. Here’s you will have the listy of all apps for which an update is available.

Alternatively, simply search for the app on the Play Store, open its listing, and hit the update button is an update is available.

Is Dark mode available for the app?

The most important factor in being able to use dark mode feature is its availability, which differs from app to app as not many apps have the dark mode yet.

If you can’t find the Dark Mode or Theme option in the app’s settings, then it basically means that the Dark Mode is not available for your app at the moment.
