Installing macOS Big Sur on your Mac grants you access to a handful of new features, design improvements, and a bunch of system customization options. Big Sur may be the best operating system ever released by Apple, but there’s one thing it shares in common with previous macOS versions: imperfection.
No operating system is perfect, but Big Sur seems to have an enormous amount of bugs and problems. This is quite understandable, though—it’s a relatively new OS. In this article, we compile five common Big Sur issues encountered by many Mac users. You’ll also find several ways to get the issues fixed.

Note that while some of these problems with Big Sur have been fixed in subsequent updates, others still very much exist. In fact, bigger problems may emerge at a later date. For the unfixed/existing problems, however, we’ve provided some brilliant workaround that helped other Big Sur users experiencing similar problems.
1. Screensaver BugPutting your Mac to sleep (close the lid or press Command + Option + Power button) will dismiss the screensaver, but only temporarily. Try the recommendations below to put a stop to the screensaver glitch.
Disable Fast User SwitchWe should mention that this bug majorly affects Macs with multiple user accounts. Creating a new user account on your Mac running Big Sur may also birth this issue.
Apparently, it appears that the “Fact User Switching” feature is responsible for this error. Disabling the feature in System Preferences and removing it from the Menu Bar and Control Center can fix this problem.
2. Enter your Mac’s password to proceed.

2. Battery Drain IssuesSeveral Mac users reported significant battery drainage after upgrading to macOS Big Sur. We also found a couple of users experiencing random battery discharge when their Mac is powered off or in sleep mode.
Before we list some solutions to these problems, you should note that sometimes, battery drainage is normal after a software update. That’s because several processes run in the background to acclimate your Mac to the new operating system.
These processes consume a lot of power but they only last a couple of days. The issue should resolve itself in about 2-5 days and battery usage should return to normal. If the battery drainage persists beyond this period, there’s probably a problem with your Mac’s battery calibration. Try some of the methods below to fix the problem.
Recalibrate Your Mac’s BatteryMacBooks undergo a calibration process that helps to estimate how long your battery would last on its current charge level. A system update can mess with your Mac’s calibration routine and cause the battery to drain faster than it’s supposed to.
To recalibrate your battery, use your Mac till the battery discharges completely and shut down. Wait for a couple of minutes and charge your Mac till the battery gets a full charge (i.e. 100%).
Reset SMC and NVRAMResetting your Mac’s System Management Controller (SMC) and NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random-access memory) can help put a stop to macOS Big Sur battery drainage issues. To perform an NVRAM reset, shut down your Mac and turn it back on. Press and hold these keys as soon as the Apple logo comes up on the screen: Command + Option + P + R. Release all four keys after 20 seconds.
The SMC also controls how your Mac manages power, battery, and other related functionalities. The procedures involved in resetting the SMC vary and mostly depend on the type of processor your Mac uses. Refer to this guide on resetting SMC on Mac or visit Apple’s Support page to learn more.
Update Your AppsRunning outdated applications on a new operating system can affect your Mac’s performance. We found that some users stopped experiencing random battery drainage on Big Sur after updating their applications to the latest versions.
For apps that aren’t on the App Store, head to the apps’ Settings menu or the developer’s website to check for available updates.
3. Mac Not Detecting External DisplaysIf your Mac no longer recognizes your external monitors (via USB-C hubs or adapters) after upgrading to macOS Big Sur, or it won’t detect more than one external monitor, you’re not alone.
There are hundreds and thousands of external display-related complaints in this Apple Communities thread. Several users also pointed out that Mac doesn’t project the highest resolution (particularly 4K) to their external display after the Big Sur upgrade.
Currently, there’s no official fix for this problem—even on Big Sur 11.2. Common troubleshooting steps for resolving USB and display issues (e.g. resetting the SMC and NVRAM) yield no positive result, either. The tricks below helped some Mac users get around this annoying Big Sur problem.
Hold Down Option on Scaled ResolutionOne quick fix you can try is to first head over to the Display page in System Preferences.
As you can see, I now have the option for the full 6K resolution that my Pro XRD display supports. Up till now, I was running at 3K. You should see the option here for the highest resolution your monitor can support.

Switch or Downgrade Monitor’s Input StandardIf your USB-C adapter has both HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 1.4 ports, connecting the external display to the latter may force macOS to offer the highest resolution. For DisplayPort connections, try downgrading the monitor’s input to DisplayPort 1.2 from DisplayPort 1.4.
It seems that macOS Big Sur isn’t fully compatible with the newest versions of these display standards. Hence the reason why your Mac won’t detect external displays or project content in UW-QHD (3440 x 1440p) and 4K resolutions.
For USB-C monitors, try switching the cable to a USB 2.0 port. That worked the magic for some users, so try that and check if your Mac now detects the monitor’s native resolution. If the problem persists, restart your Mac and try again.
4. AirPods Auto Switch IssuesWith the “Automatic Device Switching” feature, your AirPods should switch between your iCloud devices—depending on which one’s actively playing audio. On Big Sur, AirPods will automatically switch from Mac to other iCloud devices (iPhone or iPad) but won’t switch back to the Mac. This describes the plight of many Mac users running Big Sur.
This issue is yet to be fixed in any Big Sur updates but some users revealed that signing out of Apple ID and signing back in resolved the problem—although temporarily.
Reconnect your Apple ID and check if your AirPods now switch back to your Mac from other iCloud devices.
5. Big Sur Printing Problems Big Sur, Big BugsThese are some of the “unfixed” problems with the macOS Big Sur upgrade. There are also reports of keyboard backlighting not working after upgrading to Big Sur. If you ever encounter this issue, try resetting your Mac’s System Management Controller.

Oneplus 6 Problems And How To Fix Them (Updated)
Note: Not every user will come across these issues. In fact, your OnePlus 6 may not face any problems at all.

Call and mobile data connectivity issues
One of the most common OnePlus 6 problems concerns call and mobile data connectivity issues. There is no solution or workaround available, save for performing a soft reset. At least some of these problems will be addressed by OnePlus in the next software update:
Call drops – Many users are dropping calls when using the OnePlus 6. This doesn’t seem to be limited to a particular region or network carrier either — it’s happening across the globe. Wiping the cache partition might help. You can find the instructions on how to do so below.
Missed calls – Users are getting missed call or voicemail alert notifications but the phone doesn’t ring before that. The phone isn’t set to silent or do not disturb mode.
No data connectivity – Users are seeing a full signal on the phone, but the data connection doesn’t seem to work. Toggling the data on and off or switching to Airplane mode and disabling it seems to do the trick, but this issue comes back often. Many users find this problem occurs numerous times a day.
Calls continue after hanging up – This one is a doozy. Some users have found they can still hear the person at the other end of the line after hanging up. The only way to fully end the call is to restart the device. This is one of the biggest OnePlus 6 problems for users that have come across it and should be addressed by OnePlus immediately.
Cannot be heard during calls – Users have reported that the person at the other end of the line isn’t able to hear, or are unable to hear the other person. The only option is to hang up and call the person again. This bug has been acknowledged by OnePlus and will hopefully be fixed soon.
Connectivity issues
Connectivity issues are quite common in new devices, and the OnePlus 6 no exception. Below are the general steps you can follow when facing problems with connecting to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices. Wi-Fi issues seem to be particularly prevalent with this device.

Turn off your router and phone, and wait for a while before turning them back on.
Go to the Wi-Fi settings on the device and forget the preferred network. Enter the details again from scratch.
Check the level of activity on your current channel with the Wi-Fi Analyzer application. If necessary, simply switch to a different channel.
Disable Power Saving Mode through Settings.
Bluetooth Issues
Make sure no power saving mode is enabled.
Tur your device’s Bluetooth off and back on again.
If the problem continues, clear the cache for Bluetooth by going to the Bluetooth Settings.
Restart the phone after clearing the data and cache.
If the Bluetooth device saves multiple profiles, you might have reached the limit for the number of profiles it can save. Delete old and unused profiles, and try setting up the connection once again from scratch.
Display more notification icons in the status bar, when reducing the display size setting has created more space before the notch. The three overflow status bar dots will also be fixed.
Increased notification and ringtone sound volume.
Rear camera autofocus improvements. This is another one of the major OnePlus 6 problems that have been reported.
Restore status bar battery percentage option. Many users have complained about the battery percentage number not being available.
The Scheduled Do Not Disturb feature will be added in the next update.
Double tap to wake issue – Some users have found the double tap to wake feature doesn’t work as expected, requiring multiple taps before the device responds. This seems to occur particularly if the phone has been idle for a while. This problem could be related to the aggressive battery optimizations and Doze feature.
Selfie portrait mode – OnePlus has confirmed a portrait mode with the front-facing camera is in the works, to be available in a future update.
Display/UI overlap – There have been multiple reports of UI overlap, where parts of the display are cut out, making key areas of apps inaccessible.
Other camera issues – While the autofocus issue will be addressed in the next update, there are a few other camera problems as well. Some users have found the Panorama mode doesn’t work very well and that the scene is extremely dark when trying to capture slow motion video.

5 Common Paypal Scams And How To Avoid Them
Since its start eighteen years ago, PayPal has become one of the de-facto ways to send money online. While it is a very reliable service by itself, scammers can still find loopholes and escape routes to dodge PayPal’s anti-scam precautions. Here are a few ways scammers cheat people on PayPala and how to avoid them.
1. Fake “Money Received” Emails Affects you as a: SellerOne scam involves someone agreeing to send you money for an item. Usually, PayPal will send you an email to notify you when you receive money. This trick, however, involves the scammer sending a fake email to you impersonating PayPal, saying that the money has been sent. The key is to trick you into thinking they have paid, prompting you to send the item. The scammer has your item, but you get no money.
Solution 2. Refunding “Overpayments” Affects you as a: SellerYou’re selling an item and have already agreed on a price for the product and postage. When a buyer sends you the money, you notice they’ve paid slightly more than agreed. The buyer will claim this was an accident or that it’s for additional shipping fees via a company they’ve selected. Either way, they will then ask you to wire the extra money, either to them or their “shipping company.”
The buyer may be purchasing your item with a stolen account or credit card. If the account is flagged as compromised, the bank will take back any fraudulent transactions, including the payment you received for your item. Because you wired some of the stolen money back out of your account, the scammer gets to keep the product and the extra money, leaving you with nothing.
SolutionIf you notice someone has overpaid, you should be able to refund them through PayPal before you send the item. If you can’t, or you already accepted the payment, it’s worth opening a support ticket with PayPal to figure out what to do next.
3. Changing Delivery Details Affects you as a: SellerYou’ve successfully sold an item when the buyer wants to change how the package is sent. Perhaps they want you to use their shipping company account, as they claim it’ll be cheaper. The problem is by putting the delivery in the buyer’s hands, you give them the ability to exploit it. If you use their shipping service, they can tell the company to redirect the package elsewhere. If you send to ab address different than the one on PayPal’s transaction details, it’s out of PayPal’s domain.
When the buyer recovers the item, they then dispute the sale and say they never received it. Usually you can dispute this with a recorded delivery tied to the address mentioned on the PayPal transaction. However, because the seller shifted the delivery away, you either have no verification or verification of delivery to a totally different address than the one listed on PayPal’s records. As such, you can’t argue your ground.
SolutionAlways take charge of the delivery. Use your own shipping accounts and don’t allow the buyer to wrestle the responsibility off of you. If someone legitimately gave the wrong address and wants it changed, resolve the issue via PayPal so they know of the address change.
4. Using “Friends And Family” for Business Payments Affects you as a: BuyerYou’ve agreed to buy an item when the seller has a great idea. You could send money the normal way, but that incurs PayPal fees they’d rather not have you pay. Instead, they give you their email and ask you to send the money via PayPal Friends And Family, which is free of fees.
Unfortunately, the fees are there for a good reason; it’s so PayPal can protect you! Friends And Family is meant to be used for people you know well. There are no fees included because it’s a simple money transfer. It’s designed to be used for gifts, payments for favors, or simply paying back people. There’s no transaction tied to the transfer, so there’s no coverage or protection should the seller not send the product.
SolutionAs much as it feels bad to pay fees, it’s worth it! Always do a proper transaction when buying items, and never use Friends And Family for anything more than paying back someone close to you. It’s also against PayPal’s user agreement for a seller to ask for a Friends And Family payment for a business transaction, so report it if you can.
5. Attempting To Dodge a PayPal Transaction Affects you as a: Buyer, Seller SolutionIf you entered a deal with PayPal in mind, don’t back down. If someone cannot meet you on the original terms, do not do business with them, no matter how alluring their counteroffer is.
