For those who have purchased a developer edition RAZR HD, installing custom ROMs and other hacks is probably on the top of the agenda. To do all that, however, one needs a custom recovery, and both the popular custom recoveries – ClockworkMod (CWM) and TWRP – are now available for the RAZR HD Developer Edition (XT926), thanks to XDA Senior Member GoClifGo05.

Both CWM and TWRP recovery work well, though I’d say that TWRP takes the crown thanks to its more intuitive touch interface. But both recoveries allow you to flash custom ROMs, make ROM backups, etc, so it’s entirely up to you which of those you want to try out, and the guide below will help you flash either of those on your RAZR HD.

However, neither of these recoveries should be tried on the normal RAZR HD (XT925). These are only for the RAZR HD Developer Edition (XT926) for Verizon. Owners of the non-developer edition RAZR HD can find CWM recovery → here.

Now, let’s take a look at how CWM/TWRP recovery can be installed on the Verizon RAZR HD Developer Edition.

Compatibility

This guide is applicable only for the Motorola RAZR HD Developer Edition for Verizon, model number XT926. Do not try this on the non-Verizon RAZR HD or on any other device.

How to Install CWM/TWRP Recovery on Droid RAZR HD (XT926)

Backup everything on your phone, including the data on the internal storage, as flashing CWM requires unlocking the bootloader, which erases all data on the phone. To backup contacts, SMS, apps, etc, take the help of this Android backup guide. If you already have an unlocked bootloader on your phone, you can skip the backup.

[Important] Make sure the bootloader on your RAZR HD is unlocked. You can unlock the bootloader by following the official procedure at the Motorola website → here.

Root your RAZR HD by following the guide → here.

After rooting, follow steps 4.1 to 4.6 to rename the stock recovery file, otherwise it will always replace CWM/TWRP recovery after a reboot.

Install ES File Explorer from the Play Store, then open it from the apps menu.

Also enable the options “Up to Root” and “Mount File System”. Then, close the settings and go back to the main app.

Then, press the “Up” button on the top till you can see folders such as “acct”, “cache” etc.

Go into the /system/etc folder, then rename the RECOVERY.SH file to something else (doesn’t matter what you name it).

Download and install the Android SDK → from here. This will install the necessary drivers for the phone on your computer. Skip this if you have already installed Android SDK/drivers while unlocking the bootloader in step 2.

Download CWM or TWRP recovery. Keep in mind that you only need one of the two recoveries, not both.

Extract the Fastboot.zip file on your computer to get a folder named Fastboot with four files inside it. To keep things easy, extract the Fastboot folder to drive C.

Then, connect your RAZR HD to the computer with your USB cable, then wait for Windows to finish installing the drivers (drivers will be installed only the first time). For reliability, ensure that you use a USB port at the back if you are using a desktop computer, as the front panel ports can be loose and cause problems.

Now, perform the following steps in the command prompt to flash CWM recovery:

Navigate to the Fastboot folder which you obtained in step 8. For example, if the Fastboot folder is in drive C on your computer, enter cd C:Fastboot in command prompt (and press Enter) to navigate to the folder.

Then, enter fastboot devices. If your RAZR HD has been detected properly, you will see a device ID show up in command prompt. If nothing comes up, make sure you have installed the drivers (step 5).

Finally, to flash CWM/TWRP recovery on the phone, enter the following command:

For CWM: fastboot flash recovery cw-recovery-vanquish.img

For TWRP: fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery-vanquish.img

After the recovery is flashed, type fastboot reboot-bootloader. This will reboot your device into the Boot Mode Selection Menu again. Here, highlight and select Recovery to reboot into ClockworkMod or TWRP recovery and try them out.

Your phone now has ClockworkMod/TWRP recovery installed. Recovery can be entered by booting into the Boot Mode Selection Menu and selecting Recovery, just like we did in step 12.4.

CWM/TWRP recovery is now installed on your RAZR HD Developer Edition, and will allow you to install custom ROMs and the like. Have fun!

Motorola DROID RAZR: what we’ll see tomorrow

Earlier today we were given a few more clues as to what we’ll be seeing at the big Motorola news conference tomorrow in New York City – a device by the name of DROID RAZR now seems rather likely, a new crowned king of Verizon LTE devices, soon to be in our hands. But what have we gathered as far as specifications go? How big is the display, what’s going on with the camera, and what sort of processor is inside? And most importantly, will the full package equal a device that’s going to entice those who also have had the choice of picking up a dual-core smartphone from Motorola since early this year with the original Atrix, the USA’s first dual-core smartphone?

As you may be aware, there’s also an Atrix 2 out there right now, complete with a lovely smooth overhaul and the newest version of Motorola’s vision for Android for a user interface. The Motorola DROID BIONIC was supposed to be the king of all machines – and if you’ve got all the Motorola machines it connects with, it certainly is. Now there’s a new device popping out, popping out tomorrow no less, that MUST be the next step in this evolution for Motorola. It’ll have Verizon 4G LTE, we can be pretty sure of that, but how will it out-do the BIONIC?

This new device which we’ll continue calling the Motorola DROID RAZR is tipped to have a 4.3-inch display with qHD resolution similar to what we’ve seen on the BIONIC and the Droid X2. This device is said to have LTE on Verizon and will be the thinnest LTE device on the market when it’s released. The processor inside is yet unknown, but we’ll go ahead and guess that it’s the same dual-core 1.0GHz OMAP4 processor found in the BIONIC upgraded to 1.2GHz — perhaps though it’ll be the 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core chip we’ve seen in the HTC Jetstream?

Another rumor has the device using 1GB of RAM and a 960×540 pixel resolution Super AMOLED display. The camera on the back appears very likely to be the same 8-megapixel camera that the DROID BIONIC has, also capable of 1080p resolution video.

Then here’s where it gets real exciting: the front of the device is said to be fully Gorilla Glass, while the rest of the chassis is said to be Kevlar with a splashproof coating. No more poolside mishaps for you! Docks will be offered right out of the box, similar to what we’ve seen with the BIONIC and the PHOTON, and the device has been called three things: DROID RAZR, Motorola Spyder, and DROID HD. We’re guessing for the first option.

Root Yureka Plus And Install Twrp Recovery

Yureka’s Full HD display toting cousin, the Yureka Plus has got root access available and if you love apps like Xposed and Titanium backup, there is no reason to wait anymore for you. Moreover, you can decide to install TWRP recovery for Yureka Plus, which is a great utility, and allows you to flash custom ROMs, create backups, etc.

The root is done by flashing the SuperSU zip file, which is a very common and most popular working root package for Android devices. And for that you need TWRP recovery — though that doesn’t mean you have to install it necessarily to root Yureka Plus.

In case you don’t want to install TWRP recovery, so that the default stock recovery of your Yureka Plus is retained as it is, then just use the boot command below to boot into TWRP recovery without actually installing it. Then root Yureka Plus and restart, you’re done and stock recovery isn’t replaced at all either.

Though, if you would want TWRP recovery, use the flash command below to install the TWRP recovery. Don’t use boot command in such case.

Btw, using the boot command to use TWRP recovery without actually installing it helps you retain stock recovery, which in turn is plenty helpful when any OTA update comes around, including Android 5.1.

Because when it comes, you can simply download the 5.1 OTA update — keep an eye on this very blog for that — and install it yourself without waiting for the YU team to push it to your device.

Installation Instructions

Step 1. Backup important files (music, photos, documents, videos, etc.) stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below.

Step 2. Download Yureka Plus TWRP recovery and root package file from above.

Step 3. Connect the device to PC and transfer the root package file (SuperSU) to it. Then disconnect the device.

Step 4. Open the folder on your PC where you have the TWRP recovery file.

Step 5. Rename the recovery’s filename from TWRP_V2.8.7.0_YUREKA.img to chúng tôi

Step 6. Open the command window in the folder where you have the TWRP recovery file (yuplus-twrp.img). For this:

Step 7. Install ADB and fastboot drivers.

Step 8. Enable USB debugging on your Yureka Plus.

→ But if you don’t get the above pop-up on your device even when you’ve entered an adb command, then it means drivers aren’t installed properly. So, search for and install the drivers of your device manufacturer.

Step 11. Reboot Yureka Plus into fastboot mode. Copy the command below and paste it in command window. Then hit enter key.

adb reboot bootloader

→ Unlocking will erase everything on device, so be sure to take appropriate backups.

fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem device-info

If it says True in above command, then skip the command below.

However, if it says False, then you need to unlock bootloader now. Run the following command for that.

fastboot -i 0x1ebf oem unlock

Step 13. Now, we boot into TWRP recovery mode for flashing the SuperSU root package. You have a CHOICE here!

First, simply boot into TWRP recovery without actually installing it, thus retaining stock recovery which is a must have for OTA updates installation whenever it comes. For this, simply run the boot command below that will boot your Yureka Plus into TWRP recovery for once.

fastboot -i 0x1ebf boot yuplus-twrp.img

Or second, install TWRP recovery, and then Reboot into TWRP recovery to flash root package. In this case, run the flash command below, and then reboot into recovery mode manually. Note: You will need to re-install the stock recovery later on to install OTA updates directly. Otherwise, you can download the OTA update, and install it using TWRP using its ADB sideload option. That would work too.

fastboot flash recovery yuplus-twrp.img

Step 14. [Optional] It;s highly recommended that you create a backup. Tap on backup, and then select partitions of your choice, preferably all of them, and then do the Swipe action at bottom to start backing up the whole phone! It would always come very handy in case anything bad happens to phone. Go back to TWRP’s main screen by tapping on Home button at bottom left corner.

Step 15. On main screen of TWRP, tap on Install, and then browse and select the SuperSU file. On next screen, just do the Swipe action at the bottom to root your device.

Step 16. Tap on Reboot System to restart the device.

Huawei Honor 6 Root And Twrp Recovery On Android 5.1 Update

If you are using Huawei Honor 6 on Android 5.1 under the beta program, then you will need a new version of TWRP that is compatible with Android 5.1. And that’s already available for download and installation. With Honor 6 due to receive official Android 5.1 update shortly, it was about time a working TWRP recovery for 5.1 update was available already.

Installing the Android 5.1 compatible TWRP recovery is usual easy, as you need to flash the recovery from fastboot mode. Check out the guide below for full instructions. And btw, credit for this goes to  , thanks a lot!

Don’t try this TWRP recovery on Android 5.0 build on your Honor 6 and this might not be compatible with pre-5.1 builds. Until it’s confirmed, better void it.

How to Install TWRP Recovery on Huawei Honor 6 running Android 5.1 build

Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files.

Install ADB drivers.

Install Huawei Honor 6 drivers by downloading and installing its PC suite.

On your Honor 6, enable USB debugging. For this:

Go back to Settings, then choose ‘Developer options’. Find the ‘USB debugging’ option and use its toggle button to enable it. Accept warning by tapping on OK button.

Download the TWRP recovery’s .img file for your Honor 6 from above.

Now, open command window in the folder where you have the recovery’s .img file. For this:

You will see a command window open up, with location directed to folder where you have the twrp recovery file.

Boot your Honor 6 into bootloader mode. For this, run the following command in command window. adb reboot bootloader

→ Upon this, you should get a serial no. with fastboot written after it. If you don’t get fastboot written on cmd window, then it means you need to reinstall adb and fastboot drivers, or change restart PC, or use original USB cable.

Flash TWRP recovery now. Use the following command for that. fastboot flash recovery twrp_2.8.7.0_hwh6_5.1.img

TWRP recovery will now be installed on your Honor 6! To restart from bootloader mode, run the command fastboot reboot and then to access TWRP, with device connected to PC, open a command window and run adb reboot recovery command. That’s it.

Well, now that you have TWRP recovery, root is very simple to achieve.

This one SuperSU file packages root files required, and is compatible with all Android devices with bootloader unlocked and a custom recovery like TWRP installed. In case it doesn’t work, you should try the new beta version of SuperSU here: SuperSU v2.49 beta

Download the SuperSU file on your device. If you download it on PC, be sure to transfer it to device.

Open a command window on your PC.

Connect your Honor 6 to PC and run the following command. adb reboot recovery

You will enter recovery mode, and will see TWRP recovery.

[Optional] Create a backup. Tap on backup, and then select partitions of your choice, preferably all of them, and then do the Swipe action at bottom to start backing up the whole phone! Latest Twrp Recovery For Sk Telecom Galaxy Note 2 (Android 4.4 Compatible!)

With all the famous variants of a flagship model, people many a times forget about the lesser known carriers/variants like SK Telecom. But Team Win doesn’t.

They have recently pushed a latest version of their famous recovery which promises to be void of in-compatibility issue with KitKat ROMs due to the ‘set metadata recursive’ error.

Now all the Android 4.4 ROMs like RastaKat, ParanoidAndroid, CyanogenMod 11, etc will be compatible with the latest TWRP Recovery.

At the time of posting, the latest version of TWRP for SK Telecom Galaxy Note 2 is 2.6.3.0.

CHECK DEVICE MODEL NO.

To make sure your device is eligible with this, you must first confirm its model no. in ‘About device’ option under Settings. Another way to confirm model no. is by looking for it on the packaging box of your device. It must be SHV-E250S!

CHARGE YOUR DEVICES

If your android device, or PC, powers off due to lack of battery while the process is underway, it could damage the device.

So, make sure both of them are adequately charged and that no power interruption takes place when the process is undergoing — at least 50% battery of the device and laptop is what we would recommend.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Extract/Unzip the TWRP Recovery file, samsung-galaxy-note2-sk-twrp-odin.zip on your computer (using 7-zip free software, preferably). You’ll get the following files:

Disconnect the Galaxy Note 2 from PC if it is connected.

Press and hold these 3 buttons together until you see Warning! screen: Volume Down + Power + Home.

If you don’t get the Added! message, here are some 

troubleshooting tips

:

Make sure you have installed driver for Galaxy Note 2 as said above in ‘Before you begin..’ section.

If you have already installed driver, then uninstall them and reinstall back.

Connect using a different USB port on your PC.

Try a different USB cable. The original cable that came with your phone should work best, if not, try any other cable that’s new and of good quality.

Reboot phone and PC and then try again.

Load the recovery file (extracted in Step 1) into Odin as instructed below:

Now in the Option section of Odin, make sure that Re-Partition box is unchecked. (Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time boxes remain checked, while all other boxes remain unchecked.)

Double check the above two steps.

If you see FAIL message instead of the RESET in Odin’s top left box, that a problem. Try this now: disconnect your Galaxy Note 2 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.

Also, If device is Stuck at setup connection or on any other process, then too, try this: disconnect your Galaxy Note 2 from PC, close Odin, remove phone’s battery and put it back inside in 3-4 seconds, open Odin and then repeat from Step 3 of this guide again.
