The average price of a stock weighted by the total trading volume

What is Volume Weighted Adjusted Price (VWAP)?

The Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) is, as the name suggests, is the average price of a stock weighted by the total trading volume. The VWAP is used to calculate the average price of a stock over a period of time.

The volume weighted average price helps compare the current price of the stock to a benchmark, making it easier for investors to decide when to enter and exit the market. Also, the VWAP can assist investors in determining their approach towards a stock (active or passive) and make the right trade at the right time.

How to Calculate Volume Weighted Average Price

The volume weighted average price is calculated for each day. It starts when the markets open and ends when the markets close for the day. Since it is done every day, the calculation uses intraday data. The formula for calculating VWAP is as follows:

Sample Calculation

The first step is to calculate the typical price for the stock. It is the average of the high price, the low price, and the closing price of the stock for that day. Using the formula [(H+L+C)/3], if H = 20, L = 15 and C = 18, the stock’s average price would be:

Typical Price = (20+15+18) / 3 = 17.67

Next, you need to multiply the typical price by the volume. If V = 20, then:

17.67 * 20 = 353.33

You can keep a running total of the volume as they aggregate through the day to give you the cumulative volume. The cumulative volume, in our example, is 78.

Therefore, using the VWAP formula above:

VWAP = 353.33 / 78 = 4.53

The volume weighted average price can be calculated for every period to show the VWAP for every data point in the stock chart. The results of the VWAP are represented on the stock chart as a line. An investor does not always need to calculate the VWAP; it is done automatically on the trading software. The trader only needs to specify the desired number of periods to be considered in the VWAP calculation.

Importance of Volume Weighted Average Price

The volume weighted adjusted price is the true average price of the stock and does not affect its closing price. The VWAP calculation, like the moving average, experiences a lag as it is based on historical data, making it better suited for intraday trading. VWAP is a popular tool among investors for many reasons:

1. It can indicate if the market is bearish or bullish

The market is bearish when the price is below the VWAP and bullish if the price is above the VWAP. During a bullish market, there will be an increase in the buying price, and the trend line on the chart will move upward. However, during a bearish market, there is more pressure to sell the stock, leading to a downward trend on the stock chart.

2. You will know when to sell or buy

Investors who use the VWAP as a technical analysis tool will not buy a stock when there is a signal to do so. Instead, they wait for a favorable price. A trader who pays for a stock trading below the VWAP line will not pay more than the stock’s average price.

However, traders who use the VWAP line as an indicator will be able to buy at a low price, thus making more profits when they sell the stock. VWAP helps the investor make more informed decisions when buying stocks.

3. It is a better tool than the moving average

The VWAP is also used by pension plans looking to occupy a larger portion of the market. It allows them to take a different position without disrupting the market too much. With day trading, timing is the most crucial element, and the VWAP lets investors know the right time to enter or exit the market and not just follow the general trend.

The VWAP is a great indicator when choosing what stocks to buy, but it provides greater value when used with other trading strategies. It is a formula that can tell you a lot about the current and future state of a stock for both long and short positions. VWAP can help investors make more educated trades.

Mobile Search Volume In Google’S Keyword Tool

A review of 9 new features in Google’s consumer search behaviour insight tool

When the Google Keyword Tool was removed and replaced with the Keyword Planner, approximately a year ago, the ability for marketers to filter traffic estimates by device was lost. It was no longer possible to see the volume of searches by consumers made on mobile devices including smartphone and tablet.

However, with the introduction of nine new features to the Google Keyword Planner Tool last month, users will now have greater insight into mobile device volumes, mobile trends, enhanced location breakdowns and how this data trends over time.

In this post, I’m going to focus on the mobile and location enhancements, which offer some really useful data and allows us to consider how we can optimise our sites more effectively for mobile and tablet searchers.

Contribution of search volume for keywords by device

From the nine new features Google have introduced, different businesses will gain something different from each of them. But one of the most exciting features that’s likely to interest both small and larger enterprises alike is the re-introduction of device search insights:

This feature provides visual data to enable users to understand the expected search volume contribution from individual devices. As you can see from above, a group of keywords representing a particular theme or topic can be analysed to get an aggregate volume of searches, in total as well as broken down by device type.

This type of data allows one to see how people are searching online for particular terms and phrases.

For example, if it’s clear that a relatively equal volume of searches is coming from tablet, mobile devices and desktop computers, the data could be useful for building a business case for SEO investment  in a responsive or adaptive website.

Alternatively, you can also analyse individual keywords to determine specifically how each of them is performing by device type. In the first image above, we could see that [isa] was driving 49,500 searches per month as part of the aggregate list, however we can also see how these 49,500 [isa] searches themselves are broken down by device type in the second image.

This is useful for understanding how keyword groups differ from one another and whether individual content sections or landing pages might need to be tailored for those searching on desktop, mobile or tablet computers.

Analysing mobile trends over time

In addition to looking at overall search volume trends over time for particular keywords, e.g.:

… the Keyword Planner also allows users to see the mobile percentage of these search terms over a period of time:

This is particularly useful to see how consumer behaviour is changing in relation to how people are using mobile devices to search online:

For the term [weather] (used above), one can clearly see that the percentage of searches conducted on mobile devices has increased steadily over time, from 17.3% in May 2012 to 56.1% in April 2014.

Along with the contribution of search volume for keywords by device which we looked at in the previous section, this level of data allows marketers to look at how content is rendered on different devices, for either a particular search term or group of terms, and can inform how content can be tailored to create a more useful user experience across devices.

Get more accurate data by setting specific dates

In the example above, we looked at the term [isa]. The 49,500 searches per month is an average taken over the last 12 months. For other terms that are not as highly affected by seasonality (e.g. [bank accounts]), this annual average number is still quite useful.

However, because an ISA is a very seasonal financial product, it’s worth considering how search volume and demand for this term varies over the course of the year:

The seasonal snapshot above shows that there’s a clear escalation in search volume for the term [isa] from January onwards, with a peak in March. It might therefore be worth looking at the average search volume for this term during both ‘ISA season’ (January – April) and the rest of the year:

By selecting the dates we want to focus on using the ‘date range’ selector in the left-hand navigation, we can compare average monthly searches for two specific date ranges to see how they differ.

As you’ll see from the data above, the graph provides absolute and relative changes so we can see that there is nearly a +124% percentage change in searches for the term [isa] during ‘ISA season’ vs. the rest of the year. Armed with this information, content, SEO and paid search efforts can be prioritised during key times of the year in order to maximise the seasonal opportunities.

Another handy aspect of the date range feature is the ability to compare search volume year-on-year so that accurate comparisons can be made for search demand:

Understand how search trends differ by target locations

Another useful addition to the Keyword Planner is the ability to see a breakdown of search volumes by location:

This feature allows marketers to analyse the differences in search volume by location and identify segmentation opportunities. For example, although Nottingham is the second largest city by population size from the sample used above, it’s driving the least number of searches. Perhaps there is an opportunity to improve content and messaging on the website or modify bids in paid search campaigns in relation to Nottingham.

How To Increase The Maximum Volume In Windows

Sometimes turning the volume up to 100 is all you need. Other times, however, you need that little extra boost. When the Windows volume is all the way up but things are still too quiet, these options could make things a bit louder. The following methods will show how to maximize the device volume in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

1. Increase Volume Using Equalizer APO

Equalizer APO is a free open-source software that gives you extremely fine control over your PC equalizer settings. We could do a whole feature on all the crazy stuff you can do with this software, but for now we’re just focusing on cranking up that maximum volume.

In the “Configurator” window of the installer, select the devices you’d like to use with APO (Headphones, for example).

When the APO installation finishes, you will be asked to reboot Windows.

Following the device restart, go to the “Equalizer APO” install directory, followed by the “config” folder, then open the “config” file in Notepad.

Change the preamp number to a maximum of +20 dB (ideally, +10 dB is more than enough) and delete the rest of the text in the file so that it looks like the following image.

Save the file, reboot your PC, and you’re good to go!

2. Check the Software Volume

Some video player software may come with a volume-boosting option. For example, if you find VLC to be a little on the quiet side, you can increase its volume up to 300 percent within the player itself. Note that the higher you go, the more audio clipping and distortion you may experience. It’s a quick method but not necessarily the cleanest.

3. Adjust the Volume Dipping Option If Voice Calls Cause Trouble

If everything sounds perfectly fine during regular use but takes a sudden dip when you enter a voice call, you have a communications option set to lower volume during calls in Windows 11/10..

4. Check Individual Software Levels

If every app’s sound bar is at a good volume, the levels for that specific app may be low. To double-check this, balance individual software volume levels as shown. The methods to raise the volume for Windows 11 are slightly different from Windows 10.

Windows 11 has its own dedicated option for “Volume mixer,” which can be opened from the Start menu search.

For the input and output devices on Windows 11, check individual volume levels. If the bar is lower than the others, lift it to the same level.

You’ll see all the software you have open with the individual volume scales. Ensure the quiet app hasn’t had its volume dropped for some reason.

In Windows 11 the “App volume and device preferences” window opens. Here you can adjust the volume of individual input and output devices to ensure they are at similar levels.

5. Use Audio Enhancements

If everything is just too quiet in general, you can use audio enhancements in Windows 10 and Windows 11 to give your sound levels that extra boost.

Once the speaker or headphones properties are displayed in Windows 11, go to the “Advanced” tab and check the box for “Enable audio enhancements” if not already checked.

In Windows 10 there is a separate “Enhancements” tab under “Speaker Properties.” Check and apply the “Loudness Equalization” box.

Working with audio enhancements will boost the sound even further, which should hopefully make it loud enough for you to hear! If, however, you’re not getting any sound on your Windows device, you need to disable audio enhancements.

External Sound Boosters in Windows 10/11

It can be annoying when the sound is too quiet but your volume is maxed out. The cause can be many things, from automatic voice call features to individual app volume sliders being low. Sometimes, however, things are just too quiet in general, at which point you can use sound boosters within either Windows 11/10 or the software itself to get those extra few decibels. We have covered two such examples below.

6. Use FxSound Enhancer

Do you want professional quality sound effects on your Windows device, such as bass and surround sound? FxSound is one of the best sound boosters for that razor sharp audio clarity.

Play a sample audio. Make minor band adjustments in the sound enhancing tool to suit your desired levels.

In the Pro version of FxSound Enhancer, you can set various “presets,” including one that gives a “Volume boost.” The sound effects with this app are louder than anything possible with your PC or laptop.

7. Use Your Smartphone Audio with WO Mic

Recent smartphones provide high fidelity audio along with bass and special effects. With the right booster app, you can make use of those speakers on a Windows 11/10 system to maximize its volume.

Download the WO Mic Installer for Windows application and install it on your device.

During installation, you need to set the proper WO Mic Driver as a default based on your PC configuration (x64, ARM64, etc.).

Download the WO Mic app for Android or iPhone.

You need to set up a transport mechanism in the app to communicate with the laptop device. It can be Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, or USB.

Go back to the WO Mic desktop client and set it up with the same transport mechanism as your phone.

For example, if the phone was configured using Wi-Fi, use Wi-Fi to connect it with the desktop client. Also, ensure that the IP address is the same on both your phone and laptop/PC.

Frequently Asked Questions 1. Does Windows 11/10 come with an equalizer?

At the moment, Windows 11/10 does not have its own built-in equalizer. This is why you should use an external equalizer software such as Equalizer APO or FxSound Enhancer.

2. How do I increase System Volume in Windows 11/10?

To increase the system (or device) volume in Windows 11, you need to use the “Enhancements” option from “Control Panel Sounds.” Windows 10 has additional options for “Loudness Equalization.”

3. Can I control the volume on Windows using my keyboard?

The computer keyboard is an easily accessible device to manipulate the volume of Windows 11/10 systems. Use the Fn + F8 keys to increase the volume and Fn + F7 to lower it. To mute/unmute the keyboard, use Fn + F6. As you press the keys, you will see the volume change on your screen.

Shiba Inu News: Cardano Price Plummets, Collateral Network Price Rises

In the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies, the past month has seen some significant movements. Shiba Inu (SHIB) and Cardano (ADA), two popular tokens, have experienced contrasting fortunes, while the upcoming Collateral Network is generating buzz with its imminent COLT presale.

Shiba Inu: A Dogged Pursuit of Value

Despite multiple promising developments, memecoin Shiba Inu is experiencing a downtrend lately. Not even Shiba can withstand the crypto market’s downturn.

Shiba Inu, a meme coin that has captured the hearts of many, has been struggling to maintain its momentum. The token, known for its Shiba Inu dog logo, has been trading below the $0.000007 mark, with buyers seemingly hesitant to seize the initiative.

Shiba Inu is a decentralized meme token that grew into a vibrant ecosystem. ShibaSwap, fun tokens, Artist Incubator, and growing 500k+ community are some of the exciting features of this project.

However, the recent developments have been less than favorable. The token is currently trading at $0.00000672, and if the situation does not change by the end of the day, the drop is likely to continue in the coming days.

This downturn in Shiba Inu’s value is a stark contrast to the token’s previous performance, which saw it gain popularity and value rapidly. However, the crypto market is notoriously volatile lately, which likely explains Shiba Inu’s current struggles.

Cardano: A Week to Forget

The Cardano token also experienced negative developments as of late. Its delistment from popular trading platforms may convince investors to look for another platform.

Cardano, another popular token, has had a week to forget. The token, Cardano, which has been hailed as a potential “Ethereum killer” due to its robust technology and strong development team, has seen its price drop by 30% over the past week.

The drop is due to Cardano’s delisting from popular trading platforms like Robinhood, which contributed to its worst week since May 2023.

Despite the recent downturn, Cardano has a strong foundation and a dedicated community. The question now is whether Cardano can rebound from this setback and regain its previous momentum.

Collateral Network: A New Opportunity

Collateral Network aims to disrupt the lending industry by offering decentralized lending protocols for real-world assets on the Ethereum blockchain. The Collateral Network platform accepts a wide range of assets as collateral, including real estate, fine art, vintage cars, gold, fine wines, watches, diamonds, and collectibles.

For lenders, Collateral Network offers fixed passive income, tangible NFTs backed by real physical assets, and security in case of borrower default. For borrowers, the platform offers fast turnaround, privacy, transparency, low cost, and borderless borrowing.

Also, token holders that are borrowers can use the token to get discounts on borrowing fees and interest. The more tokens you hold the lower the interest rate. On the other hand, COLT token holders that are lenders can use the token to get discounts on trading fees in the marketplace. The more tokens you hold the higher the discounts on fees.

The token’s initial starting price is $0.01 and has already risen to $0.0168. Analysts predict a 3,500% (35x) price increase by the time COLT is released on major exchanges.

How To Boost Or Increase Microphone Volume Beyond Its Settings

Whether you are recording, gaming, or in a meeting, your voice may sound quieter than it should. Still, you can resolve this issue of low amplification of your voice through the microphone by creating changes in its settings.

Sometimes, however, your device or your ports may have some problems. We recommend connecting those devices to different ports or computers to find the cause. You can replace the faulty hardware if you find any. Also, clean the ports and the microphones to get clear signals. Some external microphones also have volume control on the device. So, please check for it.

This article will show you how to boost microphone volume for different systems if the problem still persists.

Boosting Microphone Volume in Windows

Windows makes it easy to control the settings for all hardware and software devices. To increase or boost the volume of your microphone, you may use the control panel or the system settings.

Through Microphone Properties in Control Panel

The control panel allows users to control the configuration of all devices. Naturally, you can access microphone properties through this tool. To do so, follow these directions:

Open the Levels tab in the new window. Here, you can adjust or boost the volume of your microphone.

If the volume doesn’t change while using some apps, the apps may be overriding this setting. Navigate to the Advanced tab in Microphone Properties. Here, disable the Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device option.

You can also change the microphone settings from the apps themselves. You may prefer this option if you want different configurations for different programs.

Through Input System Settings

Another way to control microphone volume in Windows is through the settings. It provides the same result as the method above. So, you can choose one according to your preference.

There is a slider to adjust the volume in the new tab.

Follow the same steps from the previous method to boost the microphone.

You can also test your microphone volume in its Device Properties settings.

Through Virtual Audio Device

Windows may not be able to manipulate external microphones lacking their drivers. You can install a virtual audio device on your computer to solve this issue. It comes with an independent driver. After passing the mic through the virtual device, boosting the input signal will become possible.

Using audio equalizer software is also necessary to adjust the sensitivity or gain of your microphones. There are many virtual device applications and equalizers available in the market. You can search for and install reliable ones on your PC.

Boosting Microphone Volume in Mac

Mac has options to alter gain or sensitivity in its System Preferences. You can boost your microphone volume through the input sound preferences. To do so, follow the steps below:

Here, select your microphone device and use the slider to adjust its volume.

Boosting Microphone Volume in GNU/Linux based OS

You can use the command-line interface to adjust the settings in GNU/Linux-based systems. To boost or increase the microphone volume in such systems, follow these instructions:

Press Ctrl + T to open the terminal.

You can use the following commands to increase or decrease the mic volume:

amixer set Capture 5%+

amixer set Capture 5%-

Change the number to what you wish.

However, it is better to use the alsamixer settings. Enter sudo alsamixer to open it with root privilege.

You can press F6 to select the correct sound card.

Press F5 to view all options and navigate by using directional keys.

Locate the Mic Boost option and highlight it. Press the M key to change mute status (MM to 00).

Then locate the Mic option near Line and CD. You can set it to the gain you want by using up-down directional arrow keys. This option should stay at MM.

It would also be better to change the amplification in the Capture option near Mix and Mix Mono.

Play around with these gains to find your optimal configuration. Finally, press ESC to exit.

These settings reset every time you reboot your computer. To store the settings, enter- sudo alsactl store on the terminal.

Make sure to enter both the alsamixer and alsactl store commands as root using the sudo keyword.

Check the FAQ section to find what you can do if these settings do not reload after a reboot.

Why is the Microphone Boost option not available? (Windows)

If the option is not available in your system, you may want to try running the Recording Audio troubleshooter. Also, make sure to install the latest updates for your drivers.

What is the difference between microphone volume and microphone boost?

Microphone volume means the loudness for your microphone signals. This doesn’t affect the tone of the sound at all. Boost means the amplification of the sound and affects its tonal quality. Boosting volume increases all sounds, even noise, so it is a good idea to only boost your mic when necessary.
