What is Autodesk BIM

3D animation, modelling, simulation, game development & others

Autodesk designed it to get better business outcomes that play a significant role in creating the world. With BIM, we can create and manage information that belongs to the built asset in a holistic way of working. It has an intelligent model enabled by a cloud server platform. With the help of these features, it can integrate multi-disciplinary data and structure them that can produce a representation (digitally) of a particular asset throughout its lifecycle. After getting introduced to BIM, you must want to know why we go with BIM concerning architecture and the construction sector.

Why Autodesk BIM?

It is building information modeling software that can transform information digitally of built assets and analyzes 3d modeling through an effective process.

So there are several reasons to start working with BIM:

First, the BIM process helps capture and communicate details of the construction and design of the drawing representation of the AEC project.

It explains to stakeholders to understand different expectations of the component of the 3d model that needs to be built and how one can build that component accurately and quickly.

With BIM, construction and design teams can benefit from their technology investment and have précised output in their modeling work by analyzing every detail of specific elements.

It creates and manages information about AEC projects throughout their lifecycle with the help of its standard features. The management process collects all the construction information, documentation, and multi-disciplinary design in a set of standard data.

One of the most helpful features of it is that data can extract in the multiple representation form by using details of 2D and 3D tables.

These facts make it worthwhile for the users who want the best result in the building information modeling process.

How to Use Autodesk BIM?

Here you will get details about how to start using Autodesk BIM for your project.

Once you start using it, you have to go through three significant steps that are as follows:

Account Administration

Creation of Project

Activation of Service

Let’s see about the account administration steps:

1. Account Administration

This is a part of the portal through which we can manage our BIM account concerning projects, members, and companies. So as per your requirement, you can manage details in it.

It has a security and control feature for your projects that works in two levels of administrational control.

Account Admins have full control to activate BIM 360 (only account admins can activate the services) to create new projects and assign project administrators.

While using BIM, you need to manage your account details so that you can do this through the account settings option.

2. Account Settings

You can customize your account by going through the Account Settings tab. This includes uploading your company’s logo for proper identification, editing the name of your account, inviting account admins, and defining business units for reporting.

Here you can add additional account administrators if you want, so for adding that:

Go to Account Settings, and select the + icon.

Please enter the name or email address to add the account admin and save it.

After completing these steps, BIM will send an email invitation for an additional account admin.

The next important step of using BIM is the Activation of the Project.

Activation of Project:

To activate the project, go to the Project menu and create a project.

1. Create a Project

Go to the toolbar and select the Projects tab.

Now enter details of the project on which you want to work.

2. Activate Service

Now assign a project administrator. You not only give one project but can also add multiple projects.

Your project setup is ready, and you can start your work on it.

Here we saw the BIM process to understand what this exactly is. Using the above-discussed information about BIM, you can start working with it and enhance your working output concerning assets of 3D modeling in the construction and architectural sectors.

What Is Openai Jukebox And How To Use It?

AI has grown in importance, especially Generative AI in writing and image creation. But now we have a member on the list of generative AI creations, music. Now people can create or generate music using AI tools without spending hours in studios.

We have OpenAI’s music-making AI model, Jukebox starting in the world of AI music. The tool is far from complete and does not sound great, so t it has the potential to be a game-changing tool in the market.

So what is Jukebox all about, and how can someone use it? That is what we will answer in this article.

What is OpenAI Jukebox: AI That Generates Music as Raw Audio

Jukebox is OpenAI’s music generator that can create audio if information about music genre, artist, or even lyrics is provided. With all that information, this AI tool will work on creating a unique piece of music for you.

The music output will be in Raw format, which is the format that musicians work with when creating music. The format we listen to on our phones is mostly mp3 format songs heavily compressed in size and quality.

But Raw formats like aac are unaltered and uncompressed in every way. So the piece generated by Jukebox will be uncompressed and can be edited or changed in any way a musician wants. The RAW format will ensure greater customizing and editing options.

Unlike ChatGPT and Dall E, though, Jukebox did not come into the limelight of generative AI much. Its primary cause is the non-user friend web app and tediously long generation time.

To help you better understand, generating a minute-long audio file in Jukebox will require a total render time of something close to 9 hours.

It is more than just the long duration too. You might also have to tinker with some code to better interact with the model.

How Does the OpenAI Jukebox Work?

Unlike other AI tools, Jukebox cannot generate a song from scratch. It requires a combination of prerecorded samples or MIDI information to work on it using its digital synthesizer.

The digital synthesizer will analyze the input to produce an output that resembles the provided data.

This tool is more complex than what we see with other OpenAI tools like ChatGPT and Dall E, but it is only the beginning of AI in the music world.

How to Use OpenAI Jukebox

Much like what we see with other OpenAI tools, the process here is also somewhat similar. You enter the prompt describing the output you want and let the tool do its magic.

This tool lets you insert any sample of music as a reference either.

So firstly, you head over to the OpenAI website and download the Jukebox zip file. Once you have the zip file, unzip it and then run the openai-jukebox program file.

After this, provide a dataset of music files to the jukebox program and describe the type of output you expect from the Jukebox. Then let the tool do its job, and after hours of waiting, you will get your production the way you ordered it.

What Can You Do With Jukebox?

The jukebox can only be used as a tool to create unique music content that a content creator can use as its background audio.

Creating a full-fledged song on this tool is not possible at all. It is more like an experiment that can be edited or corrected to get a unique desired audio output.

If you plan to create music from scratch with Jukebox, you simply cannot do that.

OpenAI’s Jukebox Limitations

Significant limitations of OpenAI Jukebox can be narrowed down to two things:

The music rendering time could be faster.

The output is what you get in the end. You can modify the search to get any desired music, but there is only the ability to work and edit the final output. Unlike traditional means, you can’t edit or change the music as it is being prepared.

What is OpenAI’s Jukebox Future

OpenAi will slowly and gradually add more music to the training data of Jukebox, enabling it to work with all kinds of music worldwide.

Dall E 2 got better with more data getting into the training phase. We can expect something similar from Jukebox as well.

The world of music and its data is extensive and incomprehensible in measurable terms. It will take a while to incorporate more musical data into the tool’s training, but once it happens, we might see a tool that could create music just from a single text prompt.

What is the Alternative to the OpenAI Jukebox?

There are many AI music generators: Amper Music, AIVA, Ecrett Music, Soundraw, and Boomy. But the one that best works as a perfect alternative to OpenAI’s Jukebox is OpenAI’s very own MuseNet.

Musenet is easy to use and takes less time to create music.

Stay tuned for our other articles if you want to know more about these alternative options for AI music generators.

What Does Jukebox Sound Like?

The results that you get out of the Jukebox are far from perfect. Some might argue that the audio could be more usable for most people.

Listening to the music, you can make the shape of the audio and the genre it belongs to, but the sound quality is extremely muffled. It is like listening to old recorded music on an ancient musical device.

It sounds muffled in its output. The audio can also be closely related to the songs we hear on our radio when the frequency is not set perfectly. Some songs that come out sound like a remake of existing songs, while some sound like a continuation of existing songs.

The quality and output of the generated audio are not up to the mark in every standard, but the sheer ability to create any music you want is still astonishing.

As times go, we will see more sophistication come into tools like Jukebox, possibly making it the default choice for new content creators.

How OpenAI’s Jukebox Was Trained and How much data?

OpenAI’s Jukebox was trained with a dataset of over 1.2 million songs, all in English. So the primary training data for the model is old songs, and hence the output they generate mainly does sound like old songs playing on a radio.

In terms of number, 1.2 million might seem like a lot, but in terms of Dall E, hundreds of millions of images were used as a training model.

So, in that case, there is still a lot of training to do. On top of that, the data used in the datasets were only sometimes in consent with the creators. So there is a complication in terms of acquiring as well.

For now, most of the dataset comprises Western music, making it specific to a region. But human musical history far exceeds what 1.2 million songs can capture. With more data pouring in, we might see a better version of Jukebox soon.

Does AI Music Move You?

No, it does not move you as music usually does. To some extent, the music generated by AI is real music, and no one can dismiss that. But the quality of the piece could be better.

AI in music is not entirely a new concept altogether, though. We have seen some implementations but none as raw audio output.

Jukebox is the first to push out raw work but still lacks enough features and sophistication to be packaged as a commercial tool.

Actual human musicians still produce the best music to move someone, much like ChatGPT and Dall E cannot create the originality only a human can bring to the content.

What Is Twitter Fleets And How To Use It?

Twitter has been testing its transient tweets that vanish after 24 hours feature for quite some time now. Dubbed as “Fleets”, this feature allows you to create a tweet that doesn’t go on your main timeline. If you have ever used Snapchat Stories feature that was later adopted by Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, you already know what Fleets look like. That being said, Twitter has not just copied the “Stories” feature, rather it has implemented its take on it. In this article, we are going to discuss everything you need to know about Twitter Fleets and how you can use it on your profile.

What Is Twitter Fleets

As mentioned, Twitter Fleets are a response to the popular “Stories” feature that we have seen on other social media platforms. According to Twitter, Fleets are for sharing fleeting thoughts that you want to disappear and don’t want to see on your timeline. Like on other services, Fleets on Twitter disappear after 24 hours. Fleets are perfect for posting something casual and less permanent.

What Differentiates Fleets from Stories?

How to Create Twitter Fleets

Creating Twitter Fleets is easy. On your profile, there’s a Fleets carousel at the top. Apart from showing Fleets from people that you follow, it shows your profile picture with a “+” icon at the beginning.

2. Here, you can type your thoughts and paste links. Just like normal Tweets, you can post fleets up to 280 characters.

3. You can also add hashtags and mentions. Just type ‘#’ or ‘@’ followed by the text and it will show you suggestions, as shown below.

4. Tap on the “camera” or the “picture” button to add images and videos.

5. Tap on the “Aa” button at the top-right to add text over your photos and videos.

How to View Fleets

If someone you are following has access to Fleets and has shared a fleeting thought, then you will see it in the carousel at the top of the home feed. You can also find fleets by visiting someone’s profile. If they have shared a fleet, you will see a circle around their profile picture. You can tap on it to reveal the button to open the Fleet.

Interacting with Fleets

When you tap to view a Fleet, you will notice that Twitter has adopted a slightly different approach. The Fleets scroll vertically on swiping up and down or tapping, instead of moving horizontally. They also don’t scroll automatically which is the case with most other apps with Stories. I hate the auto-scroll feature on other apps as I have to hold down a story to keep it from moving. That’s not the case here and I love it. That being said, my colleague (@_bournesach) Anmol, found it cumbersome. So, I guess it depends on person to person.

Since Tweets are ephemeral and vanish after 24 hours, Twitter does not allow you to publicly like, retweet, or reply to fleets. You can react to Fleets with emojis or reply via Direct Messages. If you are DMs are open, anyone can send a reply to your fleet, but if they are closed, only the people you follow can send a reply.

You can still screenshot someone else’s Fleet and share it on your timeline or Fleet – similar to Instagram Stories. The user won’t receive a notification of the screenshot, which is sad, and sort of beats the purpose of ephemeral tweets. You will, however, be able to see who all have viewed your Fleets.

Shortcomings and Bugs of Twitter Fleets

As Twitter Fleets are right now in the testing phase, there are not a lot of features. You can add text, images, links, videos, and gifs, and that’s about it. There’s no support for stickers and there are no text styling options. Also, while you can add hashtags and mentions in text fleets, you cannot do so in Fleets with photos and videos, which is a bummer. This gives Instagram Stories a leg above Fleets right now.

Another thing that I don’t like about Fleets is that the Fleet carousel is half-sticky. What I mean by half-sticky is that it disappears when you scroll down your timeline but comes back as soon as you scroll up. It doesn’t wait for you to get to the top of your timeline. And that is just annoying.

Talking about the Bugs, I encountered a few when testing Fleets. I tested Fleets on both Android and iOS devices. On iOS, when uploading a video, I was restricted to 30 seconds. But on Android, I was able to upload videos of length up to 1 minute 40 seconds. Similarly, when recording a video on Android, I was restricted to 1 minute while the feature flat out didn’t work on the iPhone.

Twitter Fleets – Conclusion

What Is The Windows Event Viewer And How To Use It

If you’re a Windows user, you have probably heard the term Event Viewer being thrown around, but what is it? This guide takes an in-depth look at the Windows Event Viewer, discussing how to access it and what you can do with it.

Good to know: need to change the Administrator user in Windows? Learn several ways to do it.

What Is the Windows Event Viewer?

The Windows Event Viewer is a native utility for monitoring and keeping track of Windows events. It captures and stores detailed information about various occurrences, such as system errors, warnings, application crashes, and a wide range of additional information messages generated by Windows resources and third-party applications running on your computer.

You can think of it as a log that your computer keeps, documenting all sorts of things that happen on it. When things aren’t working as they should, you can check the log to figure out what went wrong.

How to Access the Windows Event Viewer

By default, the Windows Event Viewer is included in all versions of Windows and can be accessed in various ways, as detailed below.

Press Windows + R to launch the Run dialog box.

Type CMD and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to launch an elevated version of the Command Prompt.

Type eventvwr and press Enter.

The Event Viewer window will open.

Alternatively, go through Control Panel to open Event Viewer. Press the Windows key and type “Control.” Select “Best match” underneath.

What You Can Do With Windows Event Viewer

You can leverage the Event Viewer to perform a variety of tasks, including those mentioned below:

1. View System Events

One of the primary functions of the Event Viewer, as the name implies, is to provide a way to view all the events generated by Windows and other applications on your computer. As a utility program, it collects and logs events as they occur, meaning you can view both active and past events that are generated on your computer.

While you’ll find different categories of events on the Windows Event Viewer, three of them are where you’ll make frequent visits when using this tool. All are found under the “Windows Logs” folder.

Application – logs events related to software applications installed on your computer. Examples include application crashes, installation or uninstallation of apps, app updates, etc.

System – includes events related to Windows and its components, such as system errors, warnings, and notifications related to hardware devices, drivers, and system services.

Security – this category logs events about security-related actions taken on the computer. Examples include login attempts, changes to user accounts or privileges, network security changes, etc.

2. Diagnose Problems

As previously mentioned, the Event Viewer also doubles as a tool for diagnosing problems on your computer.

Tip: make sure you check on the health of your hard disk regularly. Learn how to ensure it remains in the best shape possible.

3. Monitor Performance

Beyond tools like the Task Manager, you can also use Event Viewer to get insights on the health of your computer. It can provide important information on system events, such as CPU usage and disk activity, and you’ll be able to use this information to identify performance bottlenecks and learn how to optimize your system for better performance.

In addition, you can get information on system performance-related metrics under either Administrative Events or System. Watch for event logs related to your CPU or RAM.

4. Monitor PC Usage

The Event Viewer can also be used to monitor PC usage by tracking system events related to user logins, logouts, and other user activities. Harness this for monitoring user behavior and detecting potential security threats.

For instance, you can find out if someone else has been logging in to your PC by scrutinizing logs in the “Security” tab. Similarly, you can check your computer’s startup and shutdown history with this information.

5. View and Export Error Logs

One of the other popular uses of the Event Viewer is viewing and exporting detailed error logs. Whether you’re a regular user, an administrator, or part of an IT department, you’ll find the saved log files useful for identifying the cause of system errors.

To export error logs, hold down the Ctrl and select each one. Alternatively, select “Save All Events As” in the right pane to save all logs under a group.

Tip: what’s the best scenario for your computer when you’re not using it: shutting it down or putting it to sleep?

Frequently Asked Questions Can I filter the events recorded in the Event Viewer?

Yes. This is your best bet if you want to quickly find the events you’re interested in. You can filter events based on various criteria, such as event type, source, and date once you select the “Create Custom View” option.

What Is Windows 11 S Mode And How To Use It

S Mode is a relatively new feature available on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 that boosts security and performance. It makes your Windows PC run apps exclusively from the Microsoft Store, ensuring that no malicious software can be activated.

In this article, we’ll explain what Windows 11 S Mode is and how to use it (or not).

Table of Contents

What Is Windows S Mode?

S Mode was introduced with Windows 10 as a security mode that prevents apps from outside the Microsoft Store from being able to run. In Windows 10, S Mode is available in Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education Editions.

In Windows 11, S Mode is only available on Windows 11 Home Edition. It isn’t available on any other edition of Windows. This means that to upgrade from Windows 10 in any of these editions, you’ll need to switch out of S mode.

The main purpose of S Mode is to freeze all non-Microsoft processes so that your computer can free up RAM and other resources to run better. This makes it quite similar to Chromebooks, which mostly limit app options to their web versions.

Finally, switching out of S Mode is a one-way affair. Once you’ve switched to normal Windows, it’s impossible to switch back. There’s also no charge associated with switching out of S Mode, but you cannot switch it back on.

When Should You Use Windows S Mode?

Here are a few examples of people who could benefit from S Mode:

S Mode can add another layer of parental control by limiting how much your child can do on your PC. For example, they won’t be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store, and they’ll only be able to browse the web using Microsoft Edge as the default browser (which comes with Bing’s parental control options).

Business owners.

If you deal with sensitive documents, S Mode can restrict the chances that you install malware. However, keep in mind that you cannot use proprietary software with S Mode, so you won’t be able to use a number of apps that you might need.

People who want a faster PC.

If your PC is slowing down, and you need it to be faster, S Mode can drastically improve performance at the cost of flexibility. It may also increase battery life and startup time. So, if you just use your Windows PC for basic functions, then S Mode is for you.

The Downsides of Windows S Mode

S Mode is extremely limiting and isn’t suitable for many users — especially those who like to customize their PC and have freedom over what programs they install and use.

Here are some reasons you might not want to use Windows S Mode:

You can only use

from the

Windows Store

Windows S Mode only allows compatible Windows apps that run on the Modern Universal Windows Platform (UWP). These are Microsoft Store apps created by or verified by Microsoft developers and are sure to not contain malicious code.

You can’t use the

command line

If you frequently use the Windows Command Line, PowerShell, or Linux, then S Mode isn’t for you. These apps, as well as code editing apps and developer tools, do not run in S Mode.

You can’t access the

Windows registry

. The Windows registry is also disabled in S Mode, meaning that you can’t configure Windows using this tool.

You can’t install drivers for third-party hardware.

Another limitation of Windows 11 S Mode is that you cannot install drivers from an installer, which means you may be unable to install particular hardware on your PC.

You can’t use third-party antivirus or

web browser

Because you can’t install third-party apps, you won’t be able to use browsers like Google Chrome. You also will be limited to Windows Defender as your sole choice of antivirus.

You can’t switch in and out of

S Mode

Once you leave S Mode, you can’t return, meaning it’s only valuable if you intend to stay in S Mode for as long as you use the device.

How to Check if You’re Using Windows S Mode

You can easily find out if your PC is in S Mode or not. To do so:

Press the

Windows key

to open

Scroll down to the “Windows Specifications” section and check whether it says “in S mode” after Edition. For example, it might say “Windows 11 Home in S Mode” or “Windows 10 Home in S Mode.”

How to Activate S Mode in Windows 11

S Mode comes pre-installed with the Windows operating system. You have to activate it when setting the device up for the first time. If you originally set up Windows 11 Home Edition in the normal mode, you won’t be able to activate S Mode.

Some Microsoft PCs, like some Microsoft Surface models, come with S Mode pre-activated.

How to Leave S Mode in Windows 11

Just to reiterate, leaving S Mode is irreversible. If you follow these instructions, you won’t be able to put your PC back into S Mode.

If you still want to continue, here’s how to leave S Mode:

Press the

Windows key

to open

Switch to

Windows 11 Pro

, select

Go to the Store

Here, you’ll see the “Switch out of S Mode” page. Select the

After you see the confirmation pop-up message, your PC is no longer in S Mode.

Windows S Mode: Fast, Safe, and Limited

S Mode in Windows 11 is an interesting version of Windows that some users may find useful. However, because it has limited features, many users may find it to be more trouble than it’s worth. For this reason, if you want the full Windows experience, we recommend not using S Mode.
