Outside of the regular Patch Tuesday schedule, Microsoft is now rolling cumulative update KB4467682 for Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2023 Update) to fix a long list of issues.

KB4467682 bumps the version number to build 17134.441, and according to the company fixes problems with precision touchpad and keyboard. It addresses issues with the logon experience, removing apps from the Start menu, problems with the File Explorer, third-party antivirus errors, networking, and it fixes a problem that prevents users set apps as default.

Windows 10 Build 14955 Releases With A Bunch Of Fixes And Improvements

Microsoft is now rolling out Windows 10 build 14955 for PC and Mobile devices enrolled in the Fast ring of the Insider program. The new test version of the operating system and part of the Creators Updates is a minor release without new features, but it brings a slew of improvements, and the Mail app gets updated with a new feature.

Windows 10 build 14955, according to Microsoft, brings an updated version of Mail & Calendar with new features to let users open emails in a new window. You can use the Quick Actions directly from new email notifications. And you can now also get someone’s attention by using “@” for mentions in the body of the email.

Fixes and improvements for Windows 10 build 14955

Windows Ink has been updated to let you draw along the protractor while making the degree visual until you start drawing.

Advanced tab on the device properties window in the Sounds control panel has been updated to allow you to select the following sample rates: 24 and 32 bit at 176400Hz, and 16, 24 and 32 bit at 352800 Hz.

USB Audio 2.0 devices now use names based on the make/model of the device, rather than using a generic name.

Microsoft Edge should no longer crash when using the Share button to share web pages and PDFs to Mail.

Known issues for Windows 10 Mobile

If your phone never received Windows 10 Mobile 14955, you can follow this workaround, otherwise you should be able to update.

You can’t install additional languages, keyboards, and speech packs on your phone until further notice.

If you see the error 0x80242006 trying to update, then do the following:

Switch your device to the Slow ring.

Change device date to 7 days in the future.

(You may need to switch “Set date and time automatically” to OFF).

Check for updates (should say “no updates available”)

Change device date back to current date.

Change device back to Fast ring.

Check for updates.

Windows 10 Build 10565: Hands

Here’s the full video tour with the new changes found in the latest preview of Windows 10.

Microsoft has just rolled out Windows 10 build 10565 to the Fast ring of updates. This new build includes significant changes and improvements over build 10547, and even from build 10558, which recently leaked to the internet.

Today, I’m adding a new video to the Pureinfoctech YouTube channel highlighting the most important changes and enhancements for build 10565.

Below you’ll find a summary with the new changes:

Start menu

Resigned context menus for the Start menu tiles.

Update Jump List menu for File Explorer.

Users can now pin contacts to Start.

Desktop

Taskbar brings back the white minimalistic icons for apps.

File Explorer and desktop apps now show new darker title bar color and white font to match the system color scheme.

New icons for the Registry, elements on Control panel, and USB connected devices.

Settings app

On Display, located inside of System — users can now change DPI settings and changes will apply automatically.

On Storage, located inside of System — Microsoft is enabling the ability to install apps to an external storage, such as SD card, USB flash or hard drive.

On Offline maps, located insider of System — Users now have the choice to save maps on a different storage location.

On About, located inside of System — users will now see the “Windows 10” logo, which match the theme color.

On Accounts, users now have the “Email, calendar, and contacts” section, which allows to add accounts globally in the operating system, and there is also a new section called “Accounts used by other apps” to let users add different accounts to use with other apps.

On Update & security, there is a new option called Find My Device and similar to the option for Windows phones, you can configure to this option to track your device using GPS, if you lose it or get stolen. On the Advanced options for updates, Insiders have a new slider switch to change from Slow to Fast ring. And Activation now shows the device product key status.

Microsoft Edge

The version has been bumped to 23.10565.0.0.

There is a new tap preview feature to pick opened tabs without having to move through web pages.

Users can finally sync Favorites and Reading list items between devices.

There is a new settings page for favorites.

The F12 tools now docks to the browser window.

User can open new instances of the web browser.

Apps

Messaging app has been included as an early preview.

Skype Video app has been included as an early preview.

Phone app has been included as an early preview.

Sway comes pre-installed in the new version of the operating system.

You can quick reply to messages from a toast notification alert or Action Center with the new apps powered by Skype.

As you can see there are lot new things in the newly released build of Windows 10, which the company is planning to release later in November as part of Threshold 2.

Finally, remember that there are not just visual changes and improvements, but also changes under-the-hood, as users can now activate Windows 10 using their qualifying Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1 product key without needing to go through the initial upgrade process.

Microsoft is rolling out the preview through the Fast ring of updates, which means that even though there are new fixes and improvements, there are also bugs and a number of things that don’t work correctly, as such it’s not recommended to make this your primary operating system — you’ll better off testing on a virtual machine or spare computer.

Microsoft just released a new build for Windows 10 Preview and Windows 10 Mobile Preview. The new build is labeled 14946 and is available to all Insiders on the Fast Ring.

Build 14946 brings a handful of system improvements and a few new features, so we can finally say that we have a legitimate Redstone 2 build. Each previous Redstone 2 build included some improvement but build 14946 is the most feature-rich build so far. Of course, the Redstone 2 update is still in its early development phase, so we expect even more additions in future releases.

When it comes to content, this build’s main highlight is improved touchpad gestures customization. Users now have the ability to set up what three and four finger gestures do. Gestures can activate Cortana, switch between apps, open the Action Center, play/pause playback, and more. Read more about improved touchpad gestures here.

Microsoft continues to bring improvements to Windows 10’s Settings app, on both PC and Mobile. This time, the new build improves the Wi-Fi settings page, as users can now set up a timer to have it turned on automatically.

The new build also brings some handy improvements to Mobile, more precisely in its typing experience. Starting with Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview build 14946, it is easier for users to use auto-correct when typing.

As always, Microsoft released the list of known issues and other improvements in build 14946. While the list of improvements for both versions of the system is long, Microsoft reported just one known issue for Mobile and One for PC.

Expert tip:

Optional components such as Hyper-V and Bash should remain installed after updating to this build.

We have fixed the issue where signing into games that use Xbox Live would not work. You should be able to sign-in to Xbox Live in games in this build.

We fixed the issue causing Microsoft Edge to sometimes crash on launch, or when you type in address bar or try to open a new tab. You no longer need to run the PowerShell script.

We fixed the issue causing touch scrolling to be too sensitive in Windows 10 apps, such as Microsoft Edge.

We fixed an issue where chúng tôi would hang when attempting to open considerably large .MOV files.

We fixed an issue that could result in the network icon occasionally getting into a state where a red X would display in the taskbar despite an active internet connection, until the device had been restarted.

We’ve updated Narrator’s reading order for Windows 10 apps which display an app bar on the bottom of the app, for example OneDrive, so now the contents of the page will be read before the contents of the app bar

We fixed an issue resulting in video thumbnails sometimes not being shown in WhatsApp – videos received from this build onwards will display a thumbnail.

We fixed an issue resulting in Camera app video recordings having a slight crackle to their audio in recent builds.

Known issues for PC:

“If you have 3rd party antivirus products such as Bitdefender, Kaspersky Antivirus, F-Secure Antivirus and Malwarebytes installed on your PC – your PC might not be able to complete the update to this build and roll-back to the previous build.

Larger Windows Store games such as ReCore, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct and Rise of the Tomb Raider may fail to launch.”

Known issues for Mobile:

“If your phone has additional speech packs installed – this build will fail to install on your phone with an 0x80188319 error. This is why we polled Insiders about language pack usage this week. Based on the response, we decided to push forward and send the latest bits. This issue will be fixed in the next build we release. NOTE: Removing speech packs will not correct the issue. Your device will continue to try and download and install the update and fail. It is recommended you move to the Slow ring until this issue is fixed.”

Microsoft has finally started rolling out the Anniversary Update to all eligible Windows 10 users. However, since a huge number of computers needs to get the update, the company decided to roll it out gradually, so not everyone is going to get the Anniversary Update immediately.

It could even take a few days for some users to finally receive the update via Windows Update. However, if you’re not so patient, and you don’t want to wait for the update to come through Windows Update, there’s actually a way to upgrade your Windows 10 to version 1607 manually.

Upgrading Windows 10 manually is actually a simple action, and it requires just one tool. So, let’s see how to upgrade your computer to the Anniversary Update, even if you still haven’t receive it from Windows Update.

Method 1 – With Media Creation Tool

So as we said, the process is pretty simple, you just create a bootable image, and upgrade your system the way you do when clean installing. Of course, none of your files will be lost during process, so don’t worry about that. Here’s exactly what you need to do:

Method 2 – With Windows Upgrade Assistant

If you don’t like the Media Creation tool, you can use another Microsoft’s tool for upgrading to the Anniversary Update called the Upgrade Assistant.
